Zechariah 2

1 I raised my eyes and looked; there were four horns.	1 Alzai i miei occhi, e stava osservando: ed ecco un uomo, che avea in mano una corda da misuratore.
2 Then I asked the angel who spoke with me what these were. He answered me, "These are the horns that scattered Judah and Israeland Jerusalem."	2 E io dissi: Dove vai tu? Ed eglimi disse: Vo' a misurare Gerusalemme per vedere quanta sia la sua larghezza,e quanta la sua lunghezza.
3 Then the LORD showed me four blacksmiths. And I asked, "What are these coming to do?"	3 Quand' ecco uscì fuora l'Angelo,che parlava in me, e l'altro Angelo andò incontro a lui,
4 And he said, "Here are the horns that scattered Judah, so that no man raised his head any more; but these have come to terrify them: to cast down the horns of the nations that raised their horns to scatter the land of Judah."	4 E gli disse: Corri, parla a quel giovine, e digli: Senza mura sarà abitata Gerusalemme per la gran quantità di uomini, e di bestie, che avrà nel suo seno.
5 Again I raised my eyes and looked: there was a man with a measuring line in his hand.	5 Ed io sarò ad essa, dice il Signore, una muraglia di fuoco, che la circonderà; ed io sarò glorificato in mezzo a lei.
6 "Where are you going?" I asked. "To measure Jerusalem," he answered; "to see how great is its width and how great its length."	6 O, o fuggite dalla terra settentrionale, dice il Signore, dappoiché io vi ho dispersi ai quattro venti del mondo, dice il Signore.
7 Then the angel who spoke with me advanced, and another angel came out to meet him,	7 Fuggi tu, o Sionne, tu che abiti presso la figlia di Babilonia.
8 and said to him, "Run, tell this to that young man: People will live in Jerusalem as though in open country, because of the multitude of men and beasts in her midst.	8 Perocché cosi dice il Signore degli eserciti: Dopo la (vostra) gloria egli mi spedirà alle genti, le quali vi spogliarono: perocché chi tocca voi, tocca la pupilla dell'occhio mio.
9 But I will be for her an encircling wall of fire, says the LORD, and I will be the glory in her midst."	9 Ecco, che io stendo sopra di loro la mia mano, ed elleno saranno preda di quelli, che furono schiavi loro; e voi conoscerete come il Signore degli eserciti mi ha mandato.
10 Up, up! Flee from the land of the north, says the LORD; for I scatter you to the four winds of heaven, says the LORD.	10 Canta inni di laude, e sta' lieta, o figliuola di Sion: perocché ecco, che io vengo, ed abiterò in mezzo a te, dice il Signore.
11 Up, escape to Zion! you who dwell in daughter Babylon.	11 E si accosteranno molte nazioni al Signore in quel giorno, e saranno mio popolo, ed io abiterò in mezzo a te, e conoscerai come il Signore degli eserciti mi ha mandato a te.
12 For thus said the LORD of hosts (after he had already sent me) concerning the nations that have plundered you: Whoever touches you touches the apple of my eye.	12 E il Signore possederà Giuda suo retaggio nella terra santa, ed eleggerà di nuovo Gerusalemme.
13 See, I wave my hand over them; they become plunder for their slaves. Thus you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me.	13 Tutta la carne si stia in silenzio dinanzi al Signore, perchè egli si è svegliato e mosso dalla sua mansione
14 Sing and rejoice, O daughter Zion! See, I am coming to dwell among you, says the LORD.
15 Many nations shall join themselves to the LORD on that day, and they shall be his people, and he will dwell among you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.
16 The LORD will possess Judah as his portion of the holy land, and he will again choose Jerusalem.
17 Silence, all mankind, in the presence of the LORD! for he stirs forth from his holy dwelling.
