NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	SMITH VAN DYKE
1 The LORD said to Moses,	1 ثم كلم الرب موسى قائلا
2 "Send men to reconnoiter the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. You shall send one man from each ancestral tribe, all of them princes."	2 ارسل رجالا ليتجسسوا ارض كنعان التي انا معطيها لبني اسرائيل. رجلا واحدا لكل سبط من آبائه ترسلون. كل واحد رئيس فيهم.
3 So Moses dispatched them from the desert of Paran, as the LORD had ordered. All of them were leaders among the Israelites;	3 فارسلهم موسى من برية فاران حسب قول الرب. كلهم رجال هم رؤساء بني اسرائيل
4 by name they were: Shammua, son of Zaccur, of the tribe of Reuben;	4 وهذه اسماؤهم. من سبط رأوبين شمّوع بن زكّور.
5 Shaphat, son of Hori, of the tribe of Simeon;	5 من سبط شمعون شافاط بن حوري.
6 Caleb, son of Jephunneh, of the tribe of Judah;	6 من سبط يهوذا كالب بن يفنّة.
7 Igal (son of Joseph), of the tribe of Issachar;	7 من سبط يسّاكر يجآل بن يوسف.
8 Hoshea, son of Nun, of the tribe of Ephraim;	8 من سبط افرايم هوشع بن نون.
9 Palti, son of Raphu, of the tribe of Benjamin;	9 من سبط بنيامين فلطي بن رافو.
10 Gaddiel, son of Sodi, of the tribe of Zebulun;	10 من سبط زبولون جدّيئيل بن سودي.
11 Gaddi, son of Susi, of the tribe of Manasseh, for the Josephites, with	11 من سبط يوسف من سبط منسّى جدّي بن سوسي.
12 Ammiel, son of Gemalli, of the tribe of Dan;	12 من سبط دان عميئيل بن جملّي.
13 Sethur, son of Michael, of the tribe of Asher;	13 من سبط اشير ستور بن ميخائيل.
14 Nahbi, son of Vophsi, of the tribe of Naphtali;	14 من سبط نفتالي نحبي بن وفسي.
15 Geuel, son of Machi, of the tribe of Gad.	15 من سبط جاد جأوئيل بن ماكي.
16 These are the names of the men whom Moses sent out to reconnoiter the land. But Hoshea, son of Nun, Moses called Joshua.	16 هذه اسماء الرجال الذين ارسلهم موسى ليتجسّسوا الارض. ودعا موسى هوشع بن نون يشوع
17 In sending them to reconnoiter the land of Canaan, Moses said to them, "Go up here in the Negeb, up into the highlands,	17 فارسلهم موسى ليتجسّسوا ارض كنعان وقال لهم اصعدوا من هنا الى الجنوب واطلعوا الى الجبل
18 and see what kind of land it is. Are the people living there strong or weak, few or many?	18 وانظروا الارض ما هي. والشعب الساكن فيها أقويّ هو ام ضعيف. قليل ام كثير.
19 Is the country in which they live good or bad? Are the towns in which they dwell open or fortified?	19 وكيف هي الارض التي هو ساكن فيها أجيدة ام ردية. وما هي المدن التي هو ساكن فيها أمخيّمات ام حصون.
20 Is the soil fertile or barren, wooded or clear? And do your best to get some of the fruit of the land." It was then the season for early grapes.	20 وكيف هي الارض أسمينة ام هزيلة. أفيها شجر ام لا. وتشددوا فخذوا من ثمر الارض. واما الايام فكانت ايام باكورات العنب
21 So they went up and reconnoitered the land from the desert of Zin as far as where Rehob adjoins Labo of Hamath.	21 فصعدوا وتجسّسوا الارض من برية صين الى رحوب في مدخل حماة.
22 Going up by way of the Negeb, they reached Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, descendants of the Anakim, were living. (Hebron had been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)	22 صعدوا الى الجنوب واتوا الى حبرون. وكان هناك اخيمان وشيشاي وتلماي بنو عناق. واما حبرون فبنيت قبل صوعن مصر بسبع سنين.
23 They also reached the Wadi Eshcol, where they cut down a branch with a single cluster of grapes on it, which two of them carried on a pole, as well as some pomegranates and figs.	23 وأتوا الى وادي اشكول وقطعوا من هناك زرجونة بعنقود واحد من العنب وحملوه بالدقرانة بين اثنين مع شيء من الرمان والتين
24 It was because of the cluster the Israelites cut there that they called the place Wadi Eshcol.	24 فدعي ذلك الموضع وادي اشكول بسبب العنقود الذي قطعه بنو اسرائيل من هناك.
25 After reconnoitering the land for forty days they returned,	25 ثم رجعوا من تجسّس الارض بعد اربعين يوما
26 met Moses and Aaron and the whole community of the Israelites in the desert of Paran at Kadesh, made a report to them all, and showed them the fruit of the country.	26 فساروا حتى اتوا الى موسى وهرون وكل جماعة بني اسرائيل الى برية فاران الى قادش وردّوا اليهما خبرا والى كل الجماعة وأروهم ثمر الارض.
27 They told Moses: "We went into the land to which you sent us. It does indeed flow with milk and honey, and here is its fruit.	27 واخبروه وقالوا قد ذهبنا الى الارض التي ارسلتنا اليها وحقا انها تفيض لبنا وعسلا وهذا ثمرها.
28 However, the people who are living in the land are fierce, and the towns are fortified and very strong. Besides, we saw descendants of the Anakim there.	28 غير ان الشعب الساكن في الارض معتزّ والمدن حصينة عظيمة جدا. وايضا قد رأينا بني عناق هناك.
29 Amalekites live in the region of the Negeb; Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites dwell in the highlands, and Canaanites along the seacoast and the banks of the Jordan."	29 العمالقة ساكنون في ارض الجنوب والحثّيون واليبوسيون والاموريون ساكنون في الجبل والكنعانيون ساكنون عند البحر وعلى جانب الاردن.
30 Caleb, however, to quiet the people toward Moses, said, "We ought to go up and seize the land, for we can certainly do so."	30 لكن كالب انصت الشعب الى موسى وقال اننا نصعد ونمتلكها لاننا قادرون عليها.
31 But the men who had gone up with him said, "We cannot attack these people; they are too strong for us."	31 واما الرجال الذين صعدوا معه فقالوا لا نقدر ان نصعد الى الشعب لانهم اشدّ منا.
32 So they spread discouraging reports among the Israelites about the land they had scouted, saying, "The land that we explored is a country that consumes its inhabitants. And all the people we saw there are huge men,	32 فاشاعوا مذمة الارض التي تجسّسوها في بني اسرائيل قائلين الارض التي مررنا فيها لنتجسّسها هي ارض تاكل سكّانها. وجميع الشعب الذي رأينا فيها اناس طوال القامة.
33 veritable giants (the Anakim were a race of giants); we felt like mere grasshoppers, and so we must have seemed to them."	33 وقد رأينا هناك الجبابرة بني عناق من الجبابرة. فكنّا في اعيننا كالجراد وهكذا كنّا في اعينهم
