JERUSALEM	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Tout grand prêtre, en effet, pris d'entre les hommes, est établi pour intervenir en faveur deshommes dans leurs relations avec Dieu, afin d'offrir dons et sacrifices pour les péchés.	1 For every high priest taken from among men, is ordained for men in the things that appertain to God, that he may offer up gifts and sacrifices for sins:
2 Il peut ressentir de la commisération pour les ignorants et les égarés, puisqu'il est lui-mêmeégalement enveloppé de faiblesse,	2 Who can have compassion on them that are ignorant and that err: because he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
3 et qu'à cause d'elle, il doit offrir pour lui-même des sacrifices pour le péché, comme il le fait pourle peuple.	3 And therefore he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
4 Nul ne s'arroge à soi-même cet honneur, on y est appelé par Dieu, absolument comme Aaron.	4 Neither doth any man take the honour to himself, but he that is called by God, as Aaron was.
5 De même ce n'est pas le Christ qui s'est attribué à soi-même la gloire de devenir grand prêtre, maisil l'a reçue de celui qui lui a dit: Tu es mon fils, moi, aujourd'hui, je t'ai engendré;	5 So Christ also did not glorify himself, that he might be made a high priest: but he that said unto him: Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
6 comme il dit encore ailleurs: Tu es prêtre pour l'éternité, selon l'ordre de Melchisédech.	6 As he saith also in another place: Thou art a priest for ever, according to the order of Melchisedech.
7 C'est lui qui, aux jours de sa chair, ayant présenté, avec une violente clameur et des larmes, desimplorations et des supplications à celui qui pouvait le sauver de la mort, et ayant été exaucé en raison de sapiété,	7 Who in the days of his flesh, with a strong cry and tears, offering up prayers and supplications to him that was able to save him from death, was heard for his reverence.
8 tout Fils qu'il était, apprit, de ce qu'il souffrit, l'obéissance;	8 And whereas indeed he was the Son of God, he learned obedience by the things which he suffered:
9 après avoir été rendu parfait, il est devenu pour tous ceux qui lui obéissent principe de salut éternel,	9 And being consummated, he became, to all that obey him, the cause of eternal salvation.
10 puisqu'il est salué par Dieu du titre de grand prêtre selon l'ordre de Melchisédech.	10 Called by God a high priest according to the order of Melchisedech.
11 Sur ce sujet, nous avons bien des choses à dire, et difficiles à exposer parce que vous êtes devenuslents à comprendre.	11 Of whom we have much to say, and hard to be intelligibly uttered: because you are become weak to hear.
12 En effet, alors qu'avec le temps vous devriez être devenus des maîtres, vous avez de nouveaubesoin qu'on vous enseigne les premiers rudiments des oracles de Dieu, et vous en êtes venus à avoir besoin delait, non de nourriture solide.	12 For whereas for the time you ought to be masters, you have need to be taught again what are the first elements of the words of God: and you are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13 Effectivement, quiconque en est encore au lait ne peut goûter la doctrine de justice, car c'est untout petit enfant;	13 For every one that is a partaker of milk, is unskillful in the word of justice: for he is a little child.
14 les parfaits, eux, ont la nourriture solide, ceux qui, par l'habitude, ont le sens moral exercé audiscernement du bien et du mal.	14 But strong meat is for the perfect; for them who by custom have their senses exercised to the discerning of good and evil.
