GREEK BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
ο φοβουμενος κυριον ποιησει αυτο και ο εγκρατης του νομου καταλημψεται αυτην1 He who fears the LORD will do this; he who is practiced in the law will come to wisdom.
και υπαντησεται αυτω ως μητηρ και ως γυνη παρθενιας προσδεξεται αυτον2 Motherlike she will meet him, like a young bride she will embrace him,
ψωμιει αυτον αρτον συνεσεως και υδωρ σοφιας ποτισει αυτον3 Nourish him with the bread of understanding, and give him the water of learning to drink.
στηριχθησεται επ' αυτην και ου μη κλιθη και επ' αυτης εφεξει και ου μη καταισχυνθη4 He will lean upon her and not fall, he will trust in her and not be put to shame.
και υψωσει αυτον παρα τους πλησιον αυτου και εν μεσω εκκλησιας ανοιξει το στομα αυτου5 She will exalt him above his fellows; in the assembly she will make him eloquent.
ευφροσυνην και στεφανον αγαλλιαματος ευρησει και ονομα αιωνος κατακληρονομησει6 Joy and gladness he will find, an everlasting name inherit.
ου μη καταλημψονται αυτην ανθρωποι ασυνετοι και ανδρες αμαρτωλοι ου μη ιδωσιν αυτην7 Worthless men will not attain to her, haughty men will not behold her.
μακραν εστιν υπερηφανιας και ανδρες ψευσται ου μη μνησθησονται αυτης8 Far from the impious is she, not to be spoken of by liars.
ουχ ωραιος αινος εν στοματι αμαρτωλου οτι ου παρα κυριου απεσταλη9 Unseemly is praise on a sinner's lips, for it is not accorded to him by God.
εν γαρ σοφια ρηθησεται αινος και ο κυριος ευοδωσει αυτον10 But praise is offered by the wise man's tongue; its rightful steward will proclaim it.
μη ειπης οτι δια κυριον απεστην α γαρ εμισησεν ου ποιησει11 Say not: "It was God's doing that I fell away"; for what he hates he does not do.
μη ειπης οτι αυτος με επλανησεν ου γαρ χρειαν εχει ανδρος αμαρτωλου12 Say not: "It was he who set me astray"; for he has no need of wicked man.
παν βδελυγμα εμισησεν ο κυριος και ουκ εστιν αγαπητον τοις φοβουμενοις αυτον13 Abominable wickedness the LORD hates, he does not let it befall those who fear him.
αυτος εξ αρχης εποιησεν ανθρωπον και αφηκεν αυτον εν χειρι διαβουλιου αυτου14 When God, in the beginning, created man, he made him subject to his own free choice.
εαν θελης συντηρησεις εντολας και πιστιν ποιησαι ευδοκιας15 If you choose you can keep the commandments; it is loyalty to do his will.
παρεθηκεν σοι πυρ και υδωρ ου εαν θελης εκτενεις την χειρα σου16 There are set before you fire and water; to whichever you choose, stretch forth your hand.
εναντι ανθρωπων η ζωη και ο θανατος και ο εαν ευδοκηση δοθησεται αυτω17 Before man are life and death, whichever he chooses shall be given him.
οτι πολλη η σοφια του κυριου ισχυρος εν δυναστεια και βλεπων τα παντα18 Immense is the wisdom of the LORD; he is mighty in power, and all-seeing.
και οι οφθαλμοι αυτου επι τους φοβουμενους αυτον και αυτος επιγνωσεται παν εργον ανθρωπου19 The eyes of God see all he has made; he understands man's every deed.
ουκ ενετειλατο ουδενι ασεβειν και ουκ εδωκεν ανεσιν ουδενι αμαρτανειν20 No man does he command to sin, to none does he give strength for lies.
