Job 34

1 And Eliu continued his discourse, and said :	1 Adunque pronunciante Eliu, anco queste cose disse:
2 Hear ye, wise men, my words, and ye learned, hearken to me :	2 Udite, savii, le mie parole; e voi, ammaestrati, ascoltate me.
3 For the ear trieth words, and the mouth discerneth meats by the taste.	3 Certo l'orecchio prova le parole; e lo gorguzzolo l'esca collo assaggiare giudica.
4 Let us choose to us judgment, and let us see among ourselves what is the best.	4 Eleggiamo lo giudicio a noi, e intra noi giudichiamo quale sia lo migliore.
5 For Job hath said : I am just, and God hath overthrown my judgment.	5 Perciò che disse Iob: giusto sono, e Iddio sovvertì lo mio giudicio.
6 For in judging me there is a lie : my arrow is violent without any sin.	6 Certo, giudicando me, la bugia è; la sagitta mia è violenta senza alcuno peccato.
7 What man is there like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?	7 Chi è uomo, com' è Iob, che bee la derisione come acqua?
8 Who goeth in company with them that work iniquity, and walketh with wicked men?	8 Che va con coloro che òperano la iniquitade, e va con malvagi uomini?
9 For he hath said : Man shall not please God, although he run with him.	9 Certo elli disse: non piacerà l'uomo (ancora) a Dio, se ancora corresse con lui.
10 Therefore, ye men of understanding, hear me : far from god be wickedness, and iniquity from the Almighty.	10 E perciò, o uomini di buono cuore, udite me: partisi da Dio la empietà, e dall' Onnipotente la iniquitade.
11 For he will render to a man his work, and according to the ways of every one he will reward them.	11 Certo la opera dell' uomo renderae a lui, e (appena) secondo la via di ciascheduno restituirà a lui.
12 For in very deed God will not condemn without cause, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.	12 Veramente Iddio non condanna indarno, nè lo Onnipotente sovvertisce lo giudicio.
13 What other hath he appointed over the earth? or whom hath he set over the world which he made?	13 Quale altro constituì sopra la terra? ovver quale pose sopra lo mondo, lo quale elli fabbricò?
14 If he turn his heart to him, he shall draw his spirit and breath unto himself.	14 Se dirizzerà a lui lo suo cuore, lo spirito suo e lo fiato a sè trarrà.
15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall return into ashes.	15 Verrà meno tutta la carne insieme, e l' uomo nella cenere ritornerà.
16 If then thou hast understanding, hear what is said, and hearken to the voice of my words.	16 Adunque se tu hai intelletto, odi quello che si dice, e ascolta la voce del mio parlare.
17 Can he be healed that loveth not judgment? and how dost thou so far condemn him that is just?	17 Colui che non ama lo giudicio, puote egli essere sanato? e come tu quello che è giusto, intanto lo condanni?
18 Who saith to the king : Thou art an apostate : who calleth rulers ungodly?	18 Il quale dice allo re, partito dalla legge; lo qual chiama li duchi, malvagi;
19 Who accepteth not the persons of princes : nor hath regarded the tyrant, when he contended against the poor man : for all are the work of his hands.	19 lo quale non riceve le persone de' principi; nè non conosce lo tiranno, quando contende contro al povero; certo tutti quanti sono lavorìo delle sue mani.
20 They shall suddenly die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and they shall pass, and take away the violent without hand.	20 Subito morranno; e nella mezza notte li popoli saranno turbati, e trapasseranno, e porterannone la forza sanza mani.
21 For his eyes are upon the ways of men, and he considereth all their steps.	21 E gli occhii suoi sopra le vie degli uomini; e tutti gli andamenti loro considera.
22 There is no darkness, and there is no shadow of death, where they may be hid who work iniquity.	22 Non sono le tenebre, e non è l'ombra della morte, chè si nascondano quivi coloro che adòperano la iniquitade.
23 For it is no longer in the power of man to enter into judgment with God.	23 Nè più oltre è nella signorìa dell' uomo, (accid) ch' elli venga a Dio nel giudicio.
24 He shall break in pieces many and innumerable, and shall make others to stand in their stead.	24 Triterà molti e senza numero, e farà stare altri per loro.
25 For he knoweth their works : and therefore he shall bring night on them, and they shall be destroyed.	25 Per ch' egli ha conosciute l'opere loro; ed impercioe inducerae la notte, e fieno distrutti.
26 He hath struck them, as being wicked, in open sight.	26 Quasi come malvagi percosse loro nelli luoghi delli videnti.
27 Who as it were on purpose have revolted from him, and would not understand all his ways :	27 I quali quasi della loro industria si partirono da lui, e tutte le sue vie non volleno intendere;
28 So that they caused the cry of the needy to come to him, and he heard the voice of the poor.	28 acciò ch' elli faccino pervenire a lui lo grido dello bisognoso, e udire la voce de' poveri.
29 For when he granteth peace, who is there that can condemn? When he hideth his countenance, who is there that can behold him, whether it regard nations, or all men?	29 Adunque, elli concedente pace, chi è che lo condanni? e quando nascondesse lo volto, chi è che contemplasse lui e sopra le genti e sopra ogni uomo?
30 Who maketh a man that is a hypocrite to reign for the sins of the people?	30 Il quale fae regnare l' uomo ipocrita per li peccati del popolo.
31 Seeing then I have spoken of God, I will not hinder thee in thy turn.	31 Adunque, per ch' io favellai al Signore, ancora non ti contraddirò se tu vorrai parlare.
32 If I have erred, teach thou me : if I have spoken iniquity, I will add no more.	32 Se io errai, insegna a me; se io dissi cosa iniqua, più oltre non aggiugnerò.
33 Doth God require it of thee, because it hath displeased thee? for thou begannest to speak, and not I. : but if thou know any thing better, speak.	33 Or non la cerca Iddio da te, perciò che la dispiace a te? In verità tu cominciasti a favellare, e non io; e se tu alcuna cosa conoscesti migliore, favella.
34 Let men of understanding speak to me, and let a wise man hearken to me.	34 Gli uomini intendenti favellino a me, e l' uomo savio oda me.
35 But Job hath spoken foolishly, and his words sound not discipline.	35 E Iob stoltamente hae favellato; le parole sue non suonano disciplina.
36 My father, let Job be tried even to the end : cease not from the man of iniquity.	36 Padre mio, provisi Iob insino alla fine; non cessare di flagellare l' uomo iniquo,
37 Because he addeth blasphemy upon his sins, let him be tied fast in the mean time amongst us : and then let him provoke God to judgment with his speeches.	37 il quale aggiugne sopra li peccati la blasfemia; ancora intra noi sia costretto; e allora provochi Iddio con suoi sermoni.
