1 Que le désert et la terre aride se réjouissent, que la steppe dise sa joie avec des fleurs; comme le narcisse,	1 Let the desert and the dry lands be glad, let the wasteland rejoice and bloom; like the asphodel,
2 qu’elle se couvre de fleurs, qu’elle pousse des cris de joie, des acclamations! À elle de recevoir la gloire du Liban, la splendeur du Carmel et de Saron; à eux de voir la Gloire de Yahvé, la splendeur de notre Dieu.	2 let it burst into flower, let it rejoice and sing for joy. The glory of Lebanon is bestowed on it, thesplendour of Carmel and Sharon; then they wil see the glory of Yahweh, the splendour of our God.
3 Fortifiez les mains qui tombent, affermissez les genoux qui tremblent,	3 Strengthen al weary hands, steady al trembling knees
4 dites aux craintifs: “Courage, ne craignez pas! Voici votre Dieu qui vient pour sa revanche, il leur rendra ce qu’ils ont mérité; lui-même vient pour nous sauver.”	4 and say to the faint-hearted, 'Be strong! Do not be afraid. Here is your God, vengeance is coming,divine retribution; he is coming to save you.'
5 Alors les yeux des aveugles verront, les oreilles des sourds entendront,	5 Then the eyes of the blind wil be opened, the ears of the deaf unsealed,
6 le boiteux sautera comme un cerf et la langue du muet chantera sa joie, car des eaux jailliront dans le désert, et des torrents dans la steppe.	6 then the lame will leap like a deer and the tongue of the dumb sing for joy; for water wil gush in thedesert and streams in the wastelands,
7 La terre brûlante se changera en étang, et le pays de la soif en eaux débordantes. Dans le repaire où les chacals étaient chez eux, l’herbe poussera comme les roseaux et les joncs.	7 the parched ground wil become a marsh and the thirsty land springs of water; the lairs where thejackals used to live wil become plots of reed and papyrus.
8 Il y aura un chemin, une route, qu’on appellera la voie sacrée; l’impur n’y passera pas, car le Seigneur lui-même ouvrira la route et l’homme sans conscience ne s’y aventurera pas.	8 And through it wil run a road for them and a highway which will be cal ed the Sacred Way; the uncleanwil not be al owed to use it; He wil be the one to use this road, the fool will not stray along it.
9 On n’y verra jamais le lion, les bêtes sauvages n’y monteront pas; on n’en rencontrera pas sur cette route, mais les rachetés y marcheront.	9 No lion wil be there, no ferocious beast set foot on it, nothing of the sort be found; it will be used by theredeemed.
10 Ceux que Yahvé a rachetés reviendront, ils arriveront à Sion tout en fête, on lira sur leur visage la joie qui ne passe pas. Ils déborderont de bonheur et de joie: pleurs et douleurs auront pris fin.	10 For those whom Yahweh has ransomed wil return, they will come to Zion shouting for joy, their headscrowned with joy unending; rejoicing and gladness wil escort them and sorrow and sighing wil take flight.
