1 E incontanente la mattina li sommi sacerdoti e li Scribi e li antiqui del popolo e l'universo consiglio deliberorono di legare Iesù, e menoronlo e detterlo a Pilato.	1 And immediately in the morning, after the leaders of the priests had taken counsel with the elders and the scribes and the entire council, binding Jesus, they led him away and delivered him to Pilate.
2 E Pilato il domandò: se' tu re de' Iudei? Ed egli rispose, e disse: tu l' hai detto.	2 And Pilate questioned him, “You are the king of the Jews?” But in response, he said to him, “You are saying it.”
3 E li sommi sacerdoti accusavanlo di molte cose.	3 And the leaders of the priests accused him in many things.
4 E Pilato anche lo dimandò, e disse: non rispondi tu? Non odi tu, di quante cose costoro ti accusano?	4 Then Pilate again questioned him, saying: “Do you not have any response? See how greatly they accuse you.”
5 E Iesù più nulla rispondeva; onde Pilato meravigliavasi.	5 But Jesus continued to give no response, so that Pilate wondered.
6 Era di consuetudine, che per lo giorno della (pasqua che era la loro) festa solevasi lasciare uno. prigione, qualunque domandavano.	6 Now on the feast day, he was accustomed to release to them one of the prisoners, whomever they requested.
7 Era in prigione uno uomo, che avea uome Barabba, il quale era preso per traditore; imperò che con tradimento avea fatto omicidio (nella città).	7 But there was one called Barabbas, who had committed murder in the sedition, who was confined with those of the sedition.
8 E sapendo questo la turba, pregorono Pilato, che così faceva per lo giorno solenne di lasciare uno prigione, ne lasciasse loro uno.	8 And when the crowd had ascended, they began to petition him to do as he always did for them.
9 Disse a loro Pilato: volete ch' io vi lasci il re de' Iudei?	9 But Pilate answered them and said, “Do you want me to release to you the king of the Jews?”
10 Questo disse, perchè sapeva bene che i sommi sacerdoti per invidia l' aveano accusato.	10 For he knew that it was out of envy that the leaders of the priests had betrayed him.
11 Ma li pontefici indussero la turba, che addomandasseno Barabba.	11 Then the chief priests incited the crowd, so that he would release Barabbas to them instead.
12 Pilato un' altra volta disse a loro: che volete ch' io faccia del re de' Iudei?	12 But Pilate, responding again, said to them: “Then what do you want me to do with the king of the Jews?”
13 E quelli un' altra volta gridorono: crucifiggilo.	13 But again they cried out, “Crucify him.”
14 E Pilato disse loro: or che male ha fatto costui? Ed ellino maggiormente gridarono: che sia crucifisso.	14 Yet truly, Pilate said to them: “Why? What evil has he done?” But they cried out all the more, “Crucify him.”
15 E volendo Pilato satisfare al popolo, lasciò Barabba, e dètte a loro Iesù flagellato, sì che il potessero crucifiggere.	15 Then Pilate, wishing to satisfy the people, released Barabbas to them, and he delivered Jesus, having severely scourged him, to be crucified.
16 Allora li cavalieri (presero Iesù e) menoronlo nella sala dove davansi le sentenze, e (insieme con loro) radunorono tutta la corte.	16 Then the soldiers led him away to the court of the praetorium. And they called together the entire cohort.
17 E vestironlo di porpora, e puosergli in capo una corona di spine.	17 And they clothed him with purple. And platting a crown of thorns, they placed it on him.
18 E cominciorono a salutarlo, e dire: Dio ti salvi, re de' Iudei.	18 And they began to salute him: “Hail, king of the Jews.”
19 E percotevangli lo capo con una canna, e sputavangli addosso; e inginocchiavansi a lui, e adoravanlo.	19 And they struck his head with a reed, and they spit on him. And kneeling down, they reverenced him.
20 E poi che l' ebbero così schernito, trassongli la porpora, e remisongli le sue vestimenta; e menoroulo a crucifiggerlo.	20 And after they had mocked him, they stripped him of the purple, and they clothed him in his own garments. And they led him away, so that they might crucify him.
21 E constrinsero uno uomo che veniva di villa, il quale avea nome Simone Cireneo, padre di Alessandro e di Rufo, che portasse la croce di Iesù.	21 And they compelled a certain passerby, Simon the Cyrenian, who was arriving from the countryside, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to take up his cross.
22 E menorono Iesù nel luogo di Golgota, che è interpretato luogo di Calvario.	22 And they led him through to the place called Golgotha, which means, ‘the Place of Calvary.’
23 E davangli a bevere vino mescolato con mirra; e non volse bevere.	23 And they gave him wine with myrrh to drink. But he did not accept it.
24 E quelli che il crucifissero, divisero infra loro le sue vestimenta, e sopra esse posero la sorte.	24 And while crucifying him, they divided his garments, casting lots over them, to see who would take what.
25 Era già l'ora di terza, quando il crucifissero.	25 Now it was the third hour. And they crucified him.
26 Era la cagione e il titolo suo scritto (sopra il capo suo): QUESTO È IL RE DE' IUDEI.	26 And the title of his case was written as: THE KING OF THE JEWS.
27 E con lui crucifissero due latroni, l'uno dal lato manco, e l' altro dal diritto.	27 And with him they crucified two robbers: one at his right, and the other at his left.
28 Ed è adempiuta la Scrittura che dice: e con li empii è deputato.	28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which says: “And with the iniquitous he was reputed.”
29 E quelli che passavano per la via biastemiavanlo, e moveano li capi loro, e dicevano: va, che dovevi disfare il tempio di Dio, e in tre giorni lo dovevi rifare,	29 And the passersby blasphemed him, shaking their heads and saying, “Ah, you who would destroy the temple of God, and in three days rebuild it,
30 salva ora te medesimo, e discendi dalla croce.	30 save yourself by descending from the cross.”
31 Simigliantemente schernivanlo li sommi sacerdoii e li Scribi, e dicevano: gli altri ha fatto salvi, e sè medesimo non può salvare.	31 And similarly the leaders of the priests, mocking him with the scribes, said to one another: “He saved others. He is not able to save himself.
32 E s' egli è Cristo, re d' Israel, discenda dalla croce, che noi il vediamo, e crederemogli. E quelli che erano crucifissi con lui, dicevanli villania.	32 Let the Christ, the king of Israel, descend now from the cross, so that we may see and believe.” Those who were crucified with him also insulted him.
33 Ed essendo l'ora di sesta, fatte sono le tenebre per tutta la terra insino all'ora nona.	33 And when the sixth hour arrived, a darkness occurred over the entire earth, until the ninth hour.
34 E nell' ora di nona gridò Tesù ad alta voce, e disse: ELOI, ELOI, LAMMA SABACTANI? ch' è interpretato: Dio mio, Dio mio, perchè mi hai abbandonato?	34 And at the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabacthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”
35 E alquanti di quelli che stavano ivi, dicevano: ecco che chiama Elia.	35 And some of those standing near, upon hearing this, said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.”
36 E allora andò uno, ed empiette una sponga di aceto, e puosela sopra una asta per darli da bevere, e diceva: aspettiamo, e vediamo se Elia viene per liberarlo.	36 Then one of them, running and filling a sponge with vinegar, and placing it around a reed, gave it to him to drink, saying: “Wait. Let us see if Elijah will come to take him down.”
37 Allora Iesù mise una grande voce, e spirò.	37 Then Jesus, having emitted a loud cry, expired.
38 E il velo del tempio si divise in due parti, dal capo al piede.	38 And the veil of the temple was torn in two, from the top to the bottom.
39 E vedendo questo, [i] centurione il quale li stava da lato, quando egli gridò e spirò, disse: veramente costui era Figliuolo di Dio.	39 Then the centurion who stood opposite him, seeing that he had expired while crying out in this way, said: “Truly, this man was the Son of God.”
40 E quivi erano femine che stavano a vedere da lungi, fra quali era Maria Maddalena, e Maria di Iacobo minore, e la madre di Iosef, e (Maria) Salome;	40 Now there were also women watching from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joseph, and Salome,
41 che mentre che Iesù era in Galilea, il seguitavano e servivanlo; e anche altre donne assai, le quali erano venute insieme con lui in Ierusalem.	41 (and while he was in Galilee, they followed him and ministered to him) and many other women, who had ascended along with him to Jerusalem.
42 Ed essendo già fatto sera; era pasqua il sabbato;	42 And when evening had now arrived (because it was the Preparation Day, which is before the Sabbath)
43 venne Iosef d' Arimatea, il quale era nobile e decurione, il quale aspettava il regno di Dio; questo arditamente andò a Pilato, e domando'li il corpo di Iesù.	43 there arrived Joseph of Arimathea, a noble council member, who himself was also awaiting the kingdom of God. And he boldly entered to Pilate and petitioned for the body of Jesus.
44 E Pilato meravigliandosi che così tosto fosse morto, domandò a Centurione, s' egli era già morto.	44 But Pilate wondered if he had already died. And summoning a centurion, he questioned him as to whether he was already dead.
45 E saputo che l' ebbe, donò il corpo di Iesù a Iosef.	45 And when he had been informed by the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
46 Allora Iosef comprò uno lenzuolo, e levò Iesù dalla croce, e involselo in quello lenzuolo, e puoselo in uno monumento (nuovo) ch' era tagliato in una pietra, e puoseli uno (grande) sasso all'uscio del monumento.	46 Then Joseph, having bought a fine linen cloth, and taking him down, wrapped him in the fine linen and laid him in a sepulcher, which was hewn from a rock. And he rolled a stone to the entrance of the tomb.
47 Maria Maddalena, e Maria di Iosef, guardavano dove venia posto.	47 Now Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph observed where he was laid.
