Hebrews 10

1 For the law contains the shadow of future good things, not the very image of these things. So, by the very same sacrifices which they offer ceaselessly each year, they can never cause these to approach perfection.	1 N'ayant, en effet, que l'ombre des biens à venir, non la substance même des réalités, la Loi estabsolument impuissante, avec ces sacrifices, toujours les mêmes, que l'on offre perpétuellement d'année enannée, à rendre parfaits ceux qui s'approchent de Dieu.
2 Otherwise, they would have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, once cleansed, would no longer be conscious of any sin.	2 Autrement, n'aurait-on pas cessé de les offrir puisque les officiants de ce culte, purifiés une foispour toutes, n'auraient plus conscience d'aucun péché?
3 Instead, in these things, a commemoration of sins is made every year.	3 Bien au contraire, par ces sacrifices eux-mêmes, on rappelle chaque année le souvenir des péchés.
4 For it is impossible for sins to be taken away by the blood of oxen and goats.	4 En effet, du sang de taureaux et de boucs est impuissant à enlever des péchés.
5 For this reason, as Christ enters into the world, he says: “Sacrifice and oblation, you did not want. But you have fashioned a body for me.	5 C'est pourquoi, en entrant dans le monde, le Christ dit: Tu n'as voulu ni sacrifice ni oblation; maistu m'as façonné un corps.
6 Holocausts for sin were not pleasing to you.	6 Tu n'as agréé ni holocaustes ni sacrifices pour les péchés.
7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I draw near.’ At the head of the book, it has been written of me that I should do your will, O God.”	7 Alors j'ai dit: Voici, je viens, car c'est de moi qu'il est question dans le rouleau du livre, pour faire,ô Dieu, ta volonté.
8 In the above, by saying, “Sacrifices, and oblations, and holocausts for sin, you did not want, nor are those things pleasing to you, which are offered according to the law;	8 Il commence par dire: Sacrifices, oblations, holocaustes, sacrifices pour les péchés, tu ne les aspas voulus ni agréés - et cependant ils sont offerts d'après la Loi --,
9 then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,’ ” he takes away the first, so that he may establish what follows.	9 alors il déclare: Voici, je viens pour faire ta volonté. Il abroge le premier régime pour fonder lesecond.
10 For by this will, we have been sanctified, through the one time oblation of the body of Jesus Christ.	10 Et c'est en vertu de cette volonté que nous sommes sanctifiés par l'oblation du corps de JésusChrist, une fois pour toutes.
11 And certainly, every priest stands by, ministering daily, and frequently offering the same sacrifices, which are never able to take away sins.	11 Tandis que tout prêtre se tient debout chaque jour, officiant et offrant maintes fois les mêmessacrifices, qui sont absolument impuissants à enlever des péchés,
12 But this man, offering one sacrifice for sins, sits at the right hand of God forever,	12 lui au contraire, ayant offert pour les péchés un unique sacrifice, il s'est assis pour toujours à ladroite de Dieu,
13 awaiting that time when his enemies will be made his footstool.	13 attendant désormais que ses ennemis soient placés comme un escabeau sous ses pieds.
14 For, by one oblation, he has brought to fulfillment, for all time, those who are sanctified.	14 Car par une oblation unique il a rendu parfaits pour toujours ceux qu'il sanctifie.
15 Now the Holy Spirit also testifies for us about this. For afterward, he said:	15 Or l'Esprit Saint lui aussi nous l'atteste; car après avoir déclaré:
16 “And this is the testament which I will commit to them after those days, says the Lord. I will instill my laws in their hearts, and I will inscribe my laws on their minds.	16 Telle est l'alliance que je contracterai avec eux après ces jours-là, le Seigneur dit: Je mettrai meslois dans leur coeur et je les graverai dans leur pensée.
17 And I will no longer remember their sins and iniquities.”	17 Ni de leurs péchés, ni de leurs offenses, je ne me souviendrai plus.
18 Now, when there is a remission of these things, there is no longer an oblation for sin.	18 Or là où les péchés sont remis, il n'y a plus d'oblation pour le péché.
19 And so, brothers, have faith in the entrance into the Holy of Holies by the blood of Christ,	19 Ayant donc, frères, l'assurance voulue pour l'accès au sanctuaire par le sang de Jésus,
20 and in the new and living Way, which he has initiated for us by the veil, that is, by his flesh,	20 par cette voie qu'il a inaugurée pour nous, récente et vivante, à travers le voile - c'est-à-dire sachair --,
21 and in the Great Priest over the house of God.	21 et un prêtre souverain à la tête de la maison de Dieu,
22 So, let us draw near with a true heart, in the fullness of faith, having hearts cleansed from an evil conscience, and bodies absolved with clean water.	22 approchons-nous avec un coeur sincère, dans la plénitude de la foi, les coeurs nettoyés de toutesles souillures d'une conscience mauvaise et le corps lavé d'une eau pure.
23 Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope, without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful.	23 Gardons indéfectible la confession de l'espérance, car celui qui a promis est fidèle,
24 And let us be considerate of one another, so as to prompt ourselves to charity and to good works,	24 et faisons attention les uns aux autres pour nous stimuler dans la charité et les oeuvres bonnes;
25 not deserting our assembly, as some are accustomed to do, but consoling one another, and even more so as you see that the day is approaching.	25 ne désertez pas votre propre assemblée, comme quelques-uns ont coutume de le faire, maisencouragez-vous mutuellement, et d'autant plus que vous voyez approcher le Jour.
26 For if we sin willingly, after receiving knowledge of the truth, there is no sacrifice remaining for sins,	26 Car si nous péchons volontairement, après avoir reçu la connaissance de la vérité, il n'y a plus desacrifice pour les péchés.
27 but instead, a certain terrible expectation of judgment, and the rage of a fire that shall consume its adversaries.	27 Il y a, au contraire, une perspective redoutable, celle du jugement et d'un courroux de feu quidoit dévorer les rebelles.
28 If someone dies for acting against the law of Moses, and is shown no compassion because of two or three witnesses,	28 Quelqu'un rejette-t-il la Loi de Moïse? Impitoyablement il est mis à mort sur la déposition dedeux ou trois témoins.
29 how much more, do you think, someone would deserve worse punishments, if he has tread upon the Son of God, and has treated the blood of the testament, by which he was sanctified, as unclean, and has acted with disgrace toward the Spirit of grace?	29 D'un châtiment combien plus grave sera jugé digne, ne pensez-vous pas, celui qui aura foulé auxpieds le Fils de Dieu, tenu pour profane le sang de l'alliance dans lequel il a été sanctifié, et outragé l'Esprit de lagrâce?
30 For we know that he has said: “Vengeance is mine, and I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”	30 Nous connaissons, en effet, celui qui a dit: A moi la vengeance. C'est moi qui rétribuerai. Etencore: Le Seigneur jugera son peuple.
31 It is dreadful to fall into the hands of the living God.	31 Oh! chose effroyable que de tomber aux mains du Dieu vivant!
32 But call to mind the former days, in which, after being enlightened, you endured a great struggle of afflictions.	32 Mais rappelez-vous ces premiers jours, où après avoir été illuminés, vous avez soutenu un grandassaut de souffrances,
33 And certainly, in one way, by insults and tribulations, you were made a spectacle, but in another way, you became the companions of those who were the object of such behavior.	33 tantôt exposés publiquement aux opprobres et aux tribulations, tantôt vous rendant solidaires deceux qui étaient ainsi traités.
34 For you even had compassion on those who were imprisoned, and you accepted with gladness being deprived of your goods, knowing that you have a better and more lasting substance.	34 Et, en effet, vous avez pris part aux souffrances des prisonniers; vous avez accepté avec joie laspoliation de vos biens, sachant que vous étiez en possession d'une richesse meilleure et stable.
35 And so, do not lose your confidence, which has a great reward.	35 Ne perdez donc pas votre assurance; elle a une grande et juste récompense.
36 For it is necessary for you to be patient, so that, by doing the will of God, you may receive the promise.	36 Vous avez besoin de constance, pour que, après avoir accompli la volonté de Dieu, vousbénéficiiez de la promesse.
37 “For, in a little while, and somewhat longer, he who is to come will return, and he will not delay.	37 Car encore un peu, bien peu de temps, Celui qui vient arrivera et il ne tardera pas.
38 For my just man lives by faith. But if he were to draw himself back, he would not please my soul.”	38 Or mon juste vivra par la foi; et s'il se dérobe, mon âme ne se complaira pas en lui.
39 So then, we are not sons who are drawn away to perdition, but we are sons of faith toward the securing of the soul.	39 Pour nous, nous ne sommes pas des hommes de dérobade pour la perdition, mais des hommes defoi pour la sauvegarde de notre âme.
