1 I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.	1 Méditation d’Étan l’Ezrahite.
2 For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.	2 Je voudrais chanter toujours les grâces du Seigneur, proclamer d’âge en âge ta fidélité.
3 I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,	3 Ta faveur, je le sais, est indestructible, tu fis le ciel, tu y mis la fidélité.
4 Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.	4 Quand tu fis une alliance avec ton préféré, avec David, ton serviteur, tu lui dis:
5 And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints.	5 “J’établis ta descendance pour toujours, je te bâtis un trône qui tiendra d’âge en âge.”
6 For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?	6 Les cieux entendent chanter tes merveilles, et ta fidélité, dans l’assemblée des saints.
7 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.	7 Qui donc, dans les nues, est l’égal du Seigneur? Qui ressemble à Yahvé parmi les fils des dieux?
8 O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?	8 Lui, le Dieu redouté au Grand Conseil des Saints, il est craint de tous ceux qui l’entourent.
9 Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.	9 Seigneur, Dieu Sabaot, qui est comme toi? Puissant Seigneur, ta fidélité t’enveloppe!
10 Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.	10 Tu domines la fureur des mers, quand les flots se soulèvent, toi tu les apaises.
11 The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.	11 Tu as frappé le Monstre, tu l’as laissé mort, tes coups puissants ont dispersé tes ennemis.
12 The north and the south thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name.	12 Les cieux sont à toi, la terre de même; tu mis en place le globe et tout ce qui s’y loge.
13 Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.	13 Au nord comme au sud, tout fut créé par toi, le Thabor et l’Hermon célèbrent ton nom.
14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.	14 Rien ne te manque: la vaillance, les grands coups, une main puissante, une main prête à frapper.
15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.	15 Ton trône repose sur la droiture et la justice, Faveur et Fidélité marchent devant toi.
16 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.	16 Heureux le peuple qui a lieu de t’acclamer et qui s’avance dans la lumière de ta face,
17 For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.	17 pour qui ton Nom, tout le jour, est source de joie, et que ta justice élève au premier rang.
18 For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.	18 C’est toi qui nous donnes l’éclat, la puissance, et c’est de ta bonté que nous vient la victoire.
19 Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.	19 Notre protecteur est dans ta main, Seigneur, notre roi n’existe que par le Saint d’Israël.
20 I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:	20 Tu as parlé jadis, c’était une vision; tu mentionnais ton fidèle, et tu as dit: “J’ai accordé mon aide à ce guerrier, je l’ai pris parmi mon peuple, je l’ai élevé.
21 With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him.	21 J’ai trouvé David, mon serviteur, je l’ai consacré avec l’huile sainte.
22 The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.	22 Je le soutiendrai de ma main, mes coups d’éclat le rendront fort.
23 And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.	23 Les embûches de l’adversaire échoueront, les scélérats n’auront pas sur lui le dessus.
24 But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.	24 J’écraserai devant lui ses agresseurs, je frapperai ceux qui le haïssent.
25 I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.	25 Ma grâce et ma fidélité seront avec lui, mon Nom lui assurera la victoire.
26 He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.	26 Je ferai passer la mer sous sa baguette, les fleuves feront partie de son domaine.
27 Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.	27 Il pourra faire appel à moi: “Tu es mon Père, mon Dieu, le rocher où je m’abrite!”
28 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.	28 J’en ferai mon premier-né, le plus fameux des rois de la terre.
29 His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.	29 Je lui garderai à jamais ma faveur, je serai fidèle à mon alliance avec lui.
30 If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;	30 Je lui garantis une descendance, un trône qui durera autant que les cieux.
31 If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;	31 Si ses fils négligent ma loi et ne suivent pas mes décisions,
32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.	32 s’ils violent mes préceptes et ne gardent pas mes commandements,
33 Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.	33 je punirai leurs fautes avec des verges, ils recevront des coups pour leurs erreurs.
34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.	34 Mais je ne lui reprendrai pas ma faveur, je ne ferai pas mentir ma fidélité.
35 Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.	35 Je ne briserai pas mon alliance, je ne changerai pas ce qui est sorti de mes lèvres.
36 His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me.	36 Il suffit que j’aie juré par ma sainteté: je ne mentirai pas à David.
37 It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.	37 Sa descendance n’aura pas de fin, son trône, comme le soleil, restera devant moi.
38 But thou hast cast off and abhorred, thou hast been wroth with thine anointed.	38 Il est là pour toujours, comme la lune, ce témoin fidèle au-delà des nues.”
39 Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.	39 Et pourtant tu as rejeté ton roi, tu t’es emporté contre lui.
40 Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strong holds to ruin.	40 Tu as renié l’alliance donnée à ton serviteur, tu as jeté à terre sa couronne.
41 All that pass by the way spoil him: he is a reproach to his neighbours.	41 Tu as fait des brèches dans sa clôture, tu as laissé détruire ses forteresses.
42 Thou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.	42 Qui passe sur la route emporte ce qu’il veut, et ses voisins ne le respectent plus.
43 Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to stand in the battle.	43 Tu as donné l’avantage à ses adversaires, tu as mis en joie ses ennemis.
44 Thou hast made his glory to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground.	44 L’ennemi a repoussé son glaive et tu ne l’as pas soutenu au combat.
45 The days of his youth hast thou shortened: thou hast covered him with shame. Selah.	45 Tu as fait tomber de sa main le sceptre, tu as renversé à terre son trône.
46 How long, LORD? wilt thou hide thyself for ever? shall thy wrath burn like fire?	46 Tu as mis fin, bien vite, à ses jours de jeunesse, et tu l’as enfoncé dans le mépris.
47 Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain?	47 Jusqu’à quand, Seigneur, vas-tu te cacher? Connaîtrons-nous sans fin le feu de ta fureur?
48 What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.	48 Rappelle-toi, Seigneur, ce qu’est notre existence, et pour quelle misère tu as créé les fils d’Adam.
49 Lord, where are thy former lovingkindnesses, which thou swarest unto David in thy truth?	49 Qui donc, à son heure, ne verra pas sa fin, et sauvera sa vie des griffes de la mort?
50 Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants; how I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people;	50 Où sont donc, Seigneur, tes faveurs d’autrefois, tes serments à David, et ta fidélité?
51 Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O LORD; wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.	51 Vois, Seigneur: que d’affronts pour ton serviteur!
52 Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen.	52 Que d’insultes des ennemis du Seigneur, qu’ils jettent sur les pas de ton roi, ton élu!
	53 Béni soit le Seigneur, amen, amen!
