DIODATI	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 ESSENDO presso alle fiumane di Babilonia, Dove noi sedevamo, ed anche piangevamo, Ricordandoci di Sion,	1 By the rivers of Babylon we sat mourning and weeping when we remembered Zion.
2 Noi avevamo appese le nostre cetere A’ salci, in mezzo di essa.	2 On the poplars of that land we hung up our harps.
3 Benchè quelli che ci avevano menati in cattività Ci richiedessero quivi che cantassimo; E quelli che ci facevano urlar piangendo Ci richiedessero canzoni d’allegrezza, dicendo: Cantateci delle canzoni di Sion;	3 There our captors asked us for the words of a song; Our tormentors, for a joyful song: "Sing for us a song of Zion!"
4 Come avremmo noi cantate le canzoni del Signore In paese di stranieri?	4 But how could we sing a song of the LORD in a foreign land?
5 Se io ti dimentico, o Gerusalemme; Se la mia destra ti dimentica;	5 If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand wither.
6 Resti attaccata la mia lingua al mio palato, Se io non mi ricordo di te; Se non metto Gerusalemme In capo d’ogni mia allegrezza	6 May my tongue stick to my palate if I do not remember you, If I do not exalt Jerusalem beyond all my delights.
7 Ricordati, Signore, de’ figliuoli di Edom, I quali, nella giornata di Gerusalemme, Dicevano: Spianate, spianate, Fino a’ fondamenti.	7 Remember, LORD, against Edom that day at Jerusalem. They said: "Level it, level it down to its foundations!"
8 O figliuola di Babilonia, che devi esser distrutta, Beato chi ti farà la retribuzione Del male che tu ci hai fatto!	8 Fair Babylon, you destroyer, happy those who pay you back the evil you have done us!
