Proverbios 27

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 No te gloríes del día de mañana, porque no sabes lo que depara cada día.	1 Do not congratulate yourself about tomorrow, since you do not know what today wil bring forth.
2 Que te alabe otro, no tu boca, que sea un extraño, no tus propios labios.	2 Let someone else sing your praises, but not your own mouth, a stranger, but not your own lips.
3 Pesada es la piedra y también la arena, pero más pesado aún es el despecho de un necio.	3 Heavy is the stone, weighty is the sand; heavier than both -- a grudge borne by a fool.
4 Cruel es el furor, agua desbordada la ira, pero ¿quién resistirá a los celos?	4 Cruel is wrath, overwhelming is anger; but jealousy, who can withstand that?
5 Más vale una reprensión abierta que un cariño disimulado.	5 Better open reproof than feigned love.
6 Leal es la herida que inflige el amigo, engañosa los besos del enemigo.	6 Trustworthy are blows from a friend, deceitful are kisses from a foe.
7 El hombre satisfecho pisotea un panal de miel, para el hambriento, hasta lo amargo es dulce.	7 The gorged throat revolts at honey, the hungry throat finds al bitterness sweet.
8 Como pájaro que anda lejos de su nido, así es el hombre que anda lejos de su hogar.	8 Like a bird that strays from its nest, so is anyone who strays away from home.
9 El aceite perfumado alegra el corazón, y la dulzura de un amigo, más que el propio consejo.	9 Oil and perfume gladden the heart, and the sweetness of friendship rather than self-reliance.
10 No abandones a tu amigo ni al amigo de tu padre, ni acudas a tu hermano en el día del infortunio: más vale vecino cerca que hermano lejos.	10 Do not give up your friend or your father's friend; when trouble comes, do not go off to your brother'shouse, better a near neighbour than a distant brother.
11 Sé sabio, hijo mío, alegra mi corazón, y podré replicar al que me denigra.	11 Learn to be wise, my child, and gladden my heart, that I may have an answer for anyone who insultsme.
12 El hombre precavido ve el mal y se esconde, los incautos siguen adelante y la pagan.	12 The discreet sees danger and takes shelter, simpletons go ahead and pay the penalty.
13 Toma su ropa, porque salió fiador de otro, tómalo a él como prenda, porque dio su aval a gente extraña.	13 Take the man's clothes! He has gone surety for a stranger. Take a pledge from him, for personsunknown.
14 Saludar al prójimo en alta voz, de madrugada, es tenido en cuenta como una maldición.	14 Whoever at dawn loudly blesses his neighbour -- it will be reckoned to him as a curse.
15 Gotera incesante en día de lluvia y mujer pendenciera, se asemejan:	15 The dripping of a gutter on a rainy day and a quarrelsome woman are alike;
16 querer frenarla es como frenar el viento o recoger aceite con la mano.	16 whoever can restrain her, can restrain the wind, and take a firm hold on grease.
17 El hierro se afila con el hierro, y el hombre en el trato con el prójimo.	17 Iron is sharpened by iron, one person is sharpened by contact with another.
18 El que cuida una higuera comerá de su fruto y el que respeta a su patrón recibirá honores.	18 Whoever tends the fig tree eats its figs, whoever looks after his master wil be honoured.
19 Como el rostro se refleja en el agua, así el hombre se mira a sí mismo en los demás.	19 As water reflects face back to face, so one human heart reflects another.
20 El Abismo y la Perdición son insaciables, e insaciables son también los ojos del hombre.	20 Sheol and Perdition are never satisfied, insatiable, too, are human eyes.
21 Hay un crisol para la plata y un horno para el oro, pero el hombre es apreciado por su reputación.	21 A furnace for silver, a foundry for gold: a person is worth what his reputation is worth.
22 Aunque machaques al necio en un mortero, entre los granos, con un pisón, su necedad no se apartará de él.	22 Pound a fool in a mortar, among grain with a pestle, his fol y wil not leave him.
23 Conoce bien el estado de tus ovejas, presta mucha atención a tus rebaños,	23 Know your flocks' condition well, take good care of your herds;
24 porque la riqueza no dura para siempre ni una diadema indefinidamente.	24 for riches do not last for ever, crowns do not hand themselves on from age to age.
25 Una vez cortada la hierba, aparecido el renuevo y apilado el heno de las montañas,	25 The grass once gone, the aftergrowth appearing, the hay gathered in from the mountains,
26 ten corderos para vestirte, chivos para pagar el precio de un campo,	26 you should have lambs to clothe you, goats to buy you a field,
27 y bastante leche de cabra para alimentarte, para mantener a tu familia y para que vivan tus servidoras.	27 goat's milk sufficient to feed you, to feed your household and provide for your serving girls.
