1 E quelli di Zif vennero a Saul in Gabaa, e dissero: ecco David, che è nascosto nel poggio di Achila, la quale è rimpetto alla solitudine (nella via).	1 And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon?
2 E levossi Saul, e discendeo nel deserto di Zif, e con esso lui III milia uomini degli eletti d'Israel, per cercare di David nel deserto di Zif.	2 Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.
3 E puose i loggiamenti in Gabaa di Achila, la quale era rimpetto alla solitudine nella via. E David abitava nel deserto; e veggendo che Saul era andato dopo lui nel deserto, così.	3 And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.
4 mandò spie, e seppe certissimamente ch' era	4 David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come in very deed.
5 E levossi David occultamente, e andò dove ch' era Saul; e veggendo il luogo dove Saul dormia, e Abner figliuolo di Ner, principe della sua milizia, e veggendo Saul dormire nel padiglione, e tutto il popolo dintorno,	5 And David arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched: and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Saul lay in the trench, and the people pitched round about him.
6 disse David ad Achimelec, e ad Abisai figliuolo di Sarvia, fratello di Ioab, e disse: chi discenderà meco a Saul nel campo? E Abisai disse: io verrò teco.	6 Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee.
7 E vennero David e Abisai la notte al popolo, e trovarono Saul che giacea e dormia nel padiglione, e l'asta fitta in terra al capo suo, e Abner e il popolo giacere dintorno a lui.	7 So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground at his bolster: but Abner and the people lay round about him.
8 E Abisai disse a David: Iddio hae oggi rinchiuso il tuo nemico nelle tue mani; ora il conficcherò una volta con la lancia in terra, e non farà bisogno la seconda ferita.	8 Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time.
9 E David disse ad Abisai: non l'uccidere; e chi sarà che estenda la mano sua nel cristo di Dio, e sarà innocente?	9 And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD's anointed, and be guiltless?
10 E disse David: vive il Signore, che se Iddio non l'ucciderà, ovvero che verrà il tempo della morte sua, ovvero che discendendo in battaglia sarà morto;	10 David said furthermore, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.
11 Iddio mi perdoni, ch' io non estenderò la mano nel cristo del Signore: ora tolli l'asta che è al capo suo, e il nappo dell' acqua, e andianci.	11 The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the LORD's anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go.
12 E tolsero l' asta, e il nappo dell' acqua la quale era al capo suo, e andorsene; e non era persona che il vedesse, nè sapesse, nè vegliasse; ma tutti dormiano, però che il sonno del Signore era venuto in loro.	12 So David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul's bolster; and they gat them away, and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither awaked: for they were all asleep; because a deep sleep from the LORD was fallen upon them.
13 E passato David, e istando di rincontro nella sommità del monte da lungi, ed essendo grande intervallo tra loro,	13 Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of an hill afar off; a great space being between them:
14 David gridò al popolo, e ad Abner figliuolo di Ner, e disse: non risponderai tu, Abner? E Abner, rispondendo, disse: chi se' tu che gridi, e inquieti il re?	14 And David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Answerest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that criest to the king?
15 E David disse ad Abner: non se' tu uomo? e chi è simile a te in Israel? come dunque non hae guardato il re tuo signore? egli è entrato uno del popolo per uccidere il re tuo signore.	15 And David said to Abner, Art not thou a valiant man? and who is like to thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord.
16 Non è buono quello che hai fatto; vive il Signore, che voi siete degni di morte, però che non avete guardato il vostro signore, unto del Signore: ora vedi, dove sia la lancia del re, e il nappo dell' acqua ch' era al capo suo.	16 This thing is not good that thou hast done. As the LORD liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept your master, the LORD's anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his bolster.
17 E Saul riconobbe la voce di David, e disse: non è ella la voce tua, figliuolo mio David? E David disse: signore mio re, la voce mia è.	17 And Saul knew David's voice, and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king.
18 Ed egli disse: qual è la cagione per la quale il mio signore persèguita il servo suo? che ho io fatto, o che si trova di male nelle mani mie?	18 And he said, Wherefore doth my lord thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in mine hand?
19 Ora ti prego, signore mio re, che tu intendi le parole del tuo servo: se Iddio ti incita che tu venghi contro a me, sia fatto sacrificio; ma se loro sono figliuoli di uomini, loro sono maledetti nel cospetto di Dio, che m' hanno cacciato oggi, ch' io non abiti nella eredità del Signore, e hanno detto: va, servi agli altrui idii.	19 Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the LORD have stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the children of men, cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods.
20 Ora non sia sparto lo mio sangue sopra la terra nel cospetto di Dio; chè è uscito il re d' Israel a cercare [una] pulice, sì come si persèguita la starna nel monte.	20 Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of the LORD: for the king of Israel is come out to seek a flea, as when one doth hunt a partridge in the mountains.
21 E Saul disse: io hoe peccato, ritòrnati, figliuolo mio David; perchè io non ti farò da quinci innanzi più male, però che la mia vita sì è istata oggi preziosa negli occhii tuoi: in verità appare ch' io ho fatto istoltamente, e non ho conosciute molte cose.	21 Then said Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David: for I will no more do thee harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly.
22 E David rispuose, dicendo: ecco l'asta del re, venga uno de' fanti, e riportila.	22 And David answered and said, Behold the king's spear! and let one of the young men come over and fetch it.
23 Iddio renderà a ciascuno secondo la sua giustizia e fede; in verità Iddio t' ha dato oggi nelle mie mani, e non volsi levare la mia mano nell' unto di Dio.	23 The LORD render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness: for the LORD delivered thee into my hand to day, but I would not stretch forth mine hand against the LORD's anointed.
24 E secondo l'anima tua oggi è magnificata negli occhii miei, così sia magnificata l'anima mia negli occhii di Dio, e lìberimi da ogni angoscia.	24 And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the LORD, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation.
25 E Saul disse a David; benedetto sii tu, figliuolo mio David; certo facendo tu farai, e potendo potrai. E David se n'andò alla via sua, e Saul tornò nel luogo suo.	25 Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
