| 1 Ogni uomo che crede che Iesù è Cristo, è nato da Dio; e ogni uomo che ama colui che ingenerò, ama colui che nato è da lui. | 1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God. And every one that loveth him who begot, loveth him also who is born of him. |
| 2 In questo conoscemo che noi amiamo i figliuoli di Dio, conciosia cosa che noi amiamo Iddio, e facciamo (la sua volontà e) le sue comandamenta. | 2 In this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God, and keep his commandments. |
| 3 Però che questa è la carità di Dio, che noi osserviamo le sue comandamenta; e le comandamenta sue non son gravi. | 3 For this is the charity of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not heavy. |
| 4 Però che ogni cosa ch' è nata da Dio, vince il mondo; e questa è la vittoria che vince il mondo, la fede nostra. | 4 For whatsoever is born of God, overcometh the world: and this is the victory which overcometh the world, our faith. |
| 5 Ma chi vince il mondo, se non quelli che crede che Iesù è Figliuolo di Dio? | 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? |
| 6 Questo è Iesù Cristo il quale venne per acqua e sangue (e spirito); non solamente in acqua, ma in acqua e sangue. E il Spirito testimonia che Iesù è verità. | 6 This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus Christ: not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit which testifieth, that Christ is the truth. |
| 7 Però che tre sono, che danno testimonianza in cielo: il Padre, il Figliuolo e il Spirito Santo; e questi tre son una cosa. | 7 And there are three who give testimony in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. And these three are one. |
| 8 E tre son quelli che danno testimonianza in terra; il spirito, l'acqua e il sangue; e questi tre son una medesima cosa. | 8 And there are three that give testimony on earth: the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three are one. |
| 9 Se noi ricevemo la testimonianza delli uomini, quella di Dio è maggiore; chè questa è la testimonianza di Dio, ch' è maggiore, però che ha testimonianza del suo Figliuolo. | 9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater. For this is the testimony of God, which is greater, because he hath testified of his Son. |
| 10 E quelli che crede nel Figliuolo di Dio, ha il testimonio di Dio in sè. Quelli che non crede nel Figliuolo di Dio, fa lui menzognere; però che non crede nella testimonianza, la quale ha testimoniato del suo Figliuolo. | 10 He that believeth in the Son of God, hath the testimony of God in himself. He that believeth not the Son, maketh him a liar: because he believeth not in the testimony which God hath testified of his Son. |
| 11 E questo è il testimonio, che diede a noi vita eterna. E questa vita è nel suo Figliuolo. | 11 And this is the testimony, that God hath given to us eternal life. And this life is in his Son. |
| 12 Quelli che ha il Figliuolo, ha vita (eterna); quelli che non ha il Figliuolo (di Dio), non ha vita. | 12 He that hath the Son, hath life. He that hath not the Son, hath not life. |
| 13 Queste cose scrivo a voi, acciò che sappiate chi averà vita eterna, voi che credete nel nome del Figliuolo di Dio. | 13 These things I write to you, that you may know that you have eternal life, you who believe in the name of the Son of God. |
| 14 E questa è la fidanza la quale avemo in lui, che qualunque cosa dimandaremo secondo la sua volontà, egli ode noi. | 14 And this is the confidence which we have towards him: That, whatsoever we shall ask according to his will, he heareth us. |
| 15 E sapemo ch' egli dà a noi qualunque cosa noi addomandaremo; e sapemo che avemo gli addomandamenti li quali addomandiamo a lui. | 15 And we know that he heareth us whatsoever we ask: we know that we have the petitions which we request of him. |
| 16 Quelli che sa che il suo fratello pecca peccato non a morte, addimandi, e sara'li data la vita al peccante non a morte. È peccato a morte; non dico che alcuno preghi (Iddio) per lui. | 16 He that knoweth his brother to sin a sin which is not to death, let him ask, and life shall be given to him, who sinneth not to death. There is a sin unto death: for that I say not that any man ask. |
| 17 Ogni iniquità è peccato; ed è peccato a morte. | 17 All iniquity is sin. And there is a sin unto death. |
| 18 Sapemo che ogni uomo ch' è nato da Dio, non pecca; ma la generazione di Dio il conserva, e il maligno nol tocca. | 18 We know that whosoever is born of God, sinneth not: but the generation of God preserveth him, and the wicked one toucheth him not. |
| 19 Sapemo che siamo di Dio; e il mondo è tutto posto in maligno. | 19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world is seated in wickedness. |
| 20 E sapemo che il Figliuolo di Dio venne (e ricevette carne per noi, e fu morto, e resuscitò dalli morti per noi), e diede a noi senno, che conosciamo il vero Dio, e il vero suo Figliuolo (Iesù Cristo). Questo è vero Iddio, e vita eterna. | 20 And we know that the Son of God is come: and he hath given us understanding that we may know the true God, and may be in his true Son. This is the true God and life eternal. |
| 21 Figliuoli, guardatevi dalli idoli. | 21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. |
