1 Ma noi, che siamo più fermi, dovemo sestenere l'imbecillità di coloro che non son bene fermi, e non dovemo piacere a noi medesimi.	1 It is for us who are strong to bear with the susceptibilities of the weaker ones, and not pleaseourselves.
2 Che ciascuno di noi si studii di piacere al suo prossimo in bene, a edificazione.	2 Each of us must consider his neighbour's good, so that we support one another.
3 Chè Cristo non piacette a sè medesimo, ma, secondo ch' è scritto: li improperii di coloro che rimprovorono, caddeno sopra me.	3 Christ did not indulge his own feelings, either; indeed, as scripture says: The insults of those whoinsult you fal on me.
4 (Fratelli, sappiate che) tutte le cose che son scritte, si son scritte a nostra dottrina; chè per la pazienza, e per la consolazione delle Scritture, abbiamo speranza.	4 And all these things which were written so long ago were written so that we, learning perseveranceand the encouragement which the scriptures give, should have hope.
5 E Iddio della pace e del solazzo dia a voi a sentire che siate una cosa secondo Iesù Cristo;	5 Now the God of perseverance and encouragement give you al the same purpose, fol owing theexample of Christ Jesus,
6 e d' una volontà e con una bocca facciate onore a Dio, padre del nostro Signore Iesù Cristo.	6 so that you may together give glory to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with one heart.
7 Per la qual cosa l'uno ricevete l'altro (a onore), secondo che Cristo ricevette voi in onere di Dio.	7 Accept one another, then, for the sake of God's glory, as Christ accepted you.
8 E dico a voi, che Iesù Cristo fu ministro della circoncisione, per mantenere la verità di Dio, e per fermare la promissione delli padri.	8 I tel you that Christ's work was to serve the circumcised, fulfil ing the truthfulness of God by carryingout the promises made to the fathers,
9 E dico, che le genti danno onore a Dio per la loro misericordia, secondo ch' è scritto: Signore (dice David) io ti confesso tra le genti, e al tuo nome dirò salmi.	9 and his work was also for the gentiles, so that they should give glory to God for his faithful love; as scripture says: For this I shall praise you among the nations and sing praise to your name.
10 E ancora dice: rallegratevi, genti, col popolo suo.	10 And in another place it says: Nations, rejoice, with his people,
11 E ancora dice: voi, genti tutte, lodate il Signore; e voi, popoli, magnificate lui.	11 and in another place again: Praise the Lord, all nations, extol him, al peoples.
12 E ancora dice Isaia: la radice di Iesse (cioè Cristo) si leverà a reggere le genti, e le genti spereranno in lui.	12 And in Isaiah, it says: The root of Jesse wil appear, he who rises up to rule the nations, and in himthe nations wil put their hope.
13 Ma Dio della speranza riempirà voi d'ogni allegrezza, e di pace nella fede, acciò che voi abbondiate di speranza, e della virtù del Spirito Santo.	13 May the God of hope fil you with all joy and peace in your faith, so that in the power of the HolySpirit you may be rich in hope.
14 Fratelli miei, io son certo che voi siete pieni di dilezione e d'ogni scienza, in tal guisa che voi potete ammaestrare l' uno l'altro.	14 My brothers, I am quite sure that you, in particular, are ful of goodness, ful y instructed and capableof correcting each other.
15 Con gran sicurtà scrissi a voi, fratelli, tanto ch' io vi recassi a memoria, per la grazia ch' è data a me da Dio,	15 But I have special confidence in writing on some points to you, to refresh your memories, because ofthe grace that was given to me by God.
16 acciò ch' io sia fedele servo di Iesù Cristo, fermando intra le genti e santificando l' evangelio di Dio, perchè sia l'offerta delle genti piacevole, e santificata nel Spirito Santo.	16 I was given grace to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the gentiles, dedicated to offer them the gospelof God, so that gentiles might become an acceptable offering, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
17 Adunque faccio grazie a Dio per Iesù Cristo.	17 So I can be proud, in Christ Jesus, of what I have done for God.
18 Chè io non ardisco di favellare niuna di queste cose, le quali Dio non compie per me, io che sono a obbedienza delle genti, con parole e con fatti,	18 Of course I can dare to speak only of the things which Christ has done through me to win theal egiance of the gentiles, using what I have said and done,
19 nella virtù de' miracoli e di grandi dimostrazioni, per la virtù del Spirito Santo; in questa guisa, che da Ierusalem insino in Schiavonia riempietti della predicazione di Cristo.	19 by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God. In this way, from Jerusalemand all round, even as far as Il yricum, I have ful y carried out the preaching of the gospel of Christ;
20 E (tra quella gente) predicai questo Evangelio, là dove Cristo non era ancora nominato (nè predicato); perche io non volea murare sopra il fondamento altrui, ma sì come scritto è (in Isaia il quale dice così):	20 and what is more, it has been my rule to preach the gospel only where the name of Christ has notalready been heard, for I do not build on another's foundations;
21 Coloro vederanno, alli quali non è annunziato; e quelli intenderanno, li quali non udirono.	21 in accordance with scripture: Those who have never been told about him wil see him, and thosewho have never heard about him will understand.
22 Per la qual cosa io sì era impedito di venire a voi, e sono ancora insino a qui.	22 That is why I have been so often prevented from coming to see you;
23 Ma ora non è più inanzi luogo in queste regioni, (per le quali io abbia impedimento); e però abbo in desiderio di venire a voi, già sono passati molti anni.	23 now, however, as there is nothing more to keep me in these parts, I hope, after longing for manyyears past to visit you, to see you when I am on the way to Spain-
24 Ma quando io averò a passare in Spagna, ho speranza che passando vederò voi; e da voi sarò menato là (in Ispagna), poi ch' io sarò stato con voi un poco.	24 and after enjoying at least something of your company, to be sent on my way with your support.
25 Adunque ora anderò in Ierusalem, per (provedere e) servire alli santi (che dimorano là).	25 But now I have undertaken to go to Jerusalem in the service of the holy people of God there,
26 Imperò che quelli di Macedonia, e quelli che son della provincia di Acaia, sì hanno fatto una colta di denari infra loro, per mandare alli fratelli poveri che dimorano in Ierusalem.	26 since Macedonia and Achaia have chosen to make a generous contribution to the poor amongGod's holy people at Jerusalem.
27 Piacque a coloro di fare questo; imperò che ne pare loro esser tenuti. Chè per certo, se le genti sono fatte partecipi di loro cose spirituali, degna cosa è che gli debbano provedere nelle cose temporali.	27 Yes, they chose to; not that they did not owe it to them. For if the gentiles have been given a sharein their spiritual possessions, then in return to give them help with material possessions is repaying a debt tothem.
28 Adunque poi ch' io averò compiuta questa cosa, e averò assegnato a coloro (di Ierusalem) questo frutto, io passerò in Spagna per le vostre terre.	28 So when I have done this, and given this harvest into their possession, I shall visit you on the way toSpain.
29 E so ch' io, vegnendo a voi, con abbondanza di benedizione [dell' evangelio] di Cristo venerò.	29 I am sure that, when I do come to you, I shal come with the fullest blessing of Christ.
30 Adunque pregovi, fratelli, per Iesù Cristo nostro Signore, e per la carità del Spirito Santo, che voi sì mi aiutiate nelle vostre orazioni, e che preghiate per me a Dio,	30 Meanwhile I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, that in yourprayers to God for me you exert yourselves to help me;
31 ch' egli mi scampi dalli infedeli li quali son in Iudea, e la mia offerta sia piacevole alli santi in Ierusalem;	31 praying that I may escape the unbelievers in Judaea, and that the aid I am carrying to Jerusalem wilbe acceptable to God's holy people.
32 che io per volontà di Dio con allegrezza possa venire a voi, e consolarmi con voi.	32 Then I shal come to you, if God wil s, for a happy time of relaxation in your company.
33 Dio della pace sia con tutti voi. Amen.	33 The God of peace be with you al . Amen.
