1 Questo è il carico di Ninive; il libro della visione di Naum Elceseo.	1 The burden of Ninive. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elcesite.
2 Iddio amatore, e Signore vendicatore, il quale hae il furore; Signore vendicatore contro li nimici suoi, ed esso s' adira contro li nimici suoi.	2 The Lord is a jealous God, and a revenger: the Lord is a revenger, and hath wrath: the Lord taketh vengeance on his adversaries, and he is angry with his enemies.
3 Signore paziente, e grande in fortezza, e mondando (e nettando) l'uomo, non lo farà innocente; le vie del Signore in tempesta e in grandi venti, e le nebbie sono la polvere de' suoi piedi.	3 The Lord is patient, and great in power, and will not cleanse and acquit the guilty. The Lord's ways are in a tempest, and a whirlwind, and clouds are the dust of his feet.
4 Il quale riprende il mare, e seccalo, e tutti li fiumi mena al diserto. Infermato è Basan e Carmelo; il fiore del Libano ha perduto il suo vigore.	4 He rebuketh the sea, and drieth it up: and bringeth all the rivers to be a desert. Basan languisheth and Carmel: and the dower of Libanus fadeth away.
5 I monti sono commossi da lui; e' monticelli piccoli sono desolati; la terra ha tremato dalla faccia sua, il mondo e tutti coloro che ivi àbitano.	5 The mountains tremble at him, and the hills are made desolate: and the earth hath quaked at his presence, and the world, and all that dwell therein.
6 Chi starà dinanzi dalla faccia della sua indignazione? e chi resisterà nell' ira del furore suo? La indignazione sua s'è sparta come fuoco, e le pietre sono disfatte da lui.	6 Who can stand before the face of his indignation? and who shall resist in the fierceness of his anger? his indignation is poured out like fire: and the rocks are melted by him.
7 Buono è il Signore, e confortaci nel dì della tribulazione; e (sa e) conosce coloro che sperano in lui.	7 The Lord is good and giveth strength in the day of trouble: and knoweth them that hope in him.
8 E nel diluvio trapassante farà la consumazione dello luogo di colui; e le tenebre perseguiteranno li nimici suoi.	8 But with a flood that passeth by, he will make an utter end of the place thereof: and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
9 Per che pensate contro a Dio? Egli vi consumerà; non si leverae due tribulazioni	9 What do ye devise against the Lord? he will make an utter end: there shall not rise a double affliction.
10 Però che si giungeranno insieme come le spine; così il convito di coloro che bevono insieme sarà consumato, come la paglia pienamente secca.	10 For as thorns embrace one another: so while they are feasting and drinking together, they shall be consumed as stubble that is fully dry.
11 (Però che) di te uscirà colui che penserà malizia contro al Signore, e tratterà nella mente sua la prevaricazione.	11 Out of thee shall come forth one that imagineth evil against the Lord, contriving treachery in his mind.
12 Queste parole dice il Signore: se saranno perfetti, e anche molti così, saranno percossi e trapasseranno; io t'ho afflitto, e non t'affliggerò più.	12 Thus saith the Lord: Though they were perfect: and many of them so, yet thus shall they be cut off, and he shall pass: I have afflicted thee, and I will afflict thee no more.
13 E ora spezzerò la verga sua dal dorso tuo, e romperò i legami tuoi.	13 And now I will break in pieces his rod with which he struck thy back, and I will burst thy bonds asunder.
14 E comanderà sopra te il Signore, e non si seminerà più nel nome tuo; della casa del tuo Iddio ucciderò gl' idoli scolpiti e formati al fuoco; porrò il sepolcro tuo, però che tu se' disonorato.	14 And the Lord will give a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name shall be sown: I will destroy the graven and molten thing out of the house of thy God, I will make it thy grave, for thou art disgraced.
15 Ecco sopr' a' monti li piedi di colui che evangelizza e annunzia la pace; celebra, Giuda, le feste tue, e rendi li voti tuoi; però che non passerà più in te Belial, però che al tutto è morto..	15 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, and that preacheth peace: O Juda, keep thy festivals, and pay thy vows: for Belial shall no more pass through thee again, he is utterly cut off.
