1 E parlommi lo Signore Iddio, e disse:	1 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
2 Va e grida nelle orecchie di Ierusalem, e di': questo dice lo Signore Iddio: io mi sono ricordato e hoe avuto misericordia di te, per cagione della tua giovinezza e per la carità della tua desponsazione, quando mi seguitasti nel deserto, nella terra che non si semina.	2 Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.
3 Israel santo a Dio, e le primizie delle biade sue; tutti quelli che lo divorano peccano, così dice lo Signore Iddio; lo male sarà pure sopra loro.	3 Israel was holiness unto the LORD, and the firstfruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, saith the LORD.
4 O casa di Iacob, e voi parenti della casa d' Israel, odi la parola di Dio,	4 Hear ye the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:
5 che dice così: che hanno trovato in me li vostri padri di iniquitade, però che si dilungarono da me, e seguitarono la vanità, e sono fatti vani?	5 Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?
6 E non dissono: ov'è lo Signore Iddio, ... lo quale ci menò per lo diserto, per terra inabitabile (cioè che non s' abita) e sanza via, per terra di sete, e nella imagine della morte, per terra nella quale non abitò e non andò mai uomo?	6 Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?
7 E menaivi in terra di Carmelo, acciò che voi mangiaste delli suoi frutti e della sua grassezza; e poi che vi foste, mi contaminaste (e bruttastemi) la mia terra, e la mia ereditade ponestila in abominazione.	7 And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.
8 Li sacerdoti non dissono: dove è Iddio? e tenendo la legge non mi conobbono, e li pastori sono prevaricati e tradirono me; e li profeti hanno profetato in Baal, e hanno seguitato l'idoli.	8 The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.
9 E però Iddio disse: ancora io contenderò con voi in giudicio, e colli vostri figliuoli disputerò.	9 Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your children's children will I plead.
10 Passate e andate alle isole di Cetim; e (radunatevi e) mettetevi in Cedar, e considerate (sottilmente e) fortemente; e considerate se così è fatto sopra me;	10 For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing.
11 e se la gente ha mutato li suoi iddii; ... ma tutto lo populo ha mutato la sua gloria, e postola nelli idoli.	11 Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.
12 O cieli, maravigliatevi di tanto fatto; e le sue porte sieno desolate con grande veemenza, dice Iddio.	12 Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD.
13 Due mali hae fatto lo popolo mio; (lo primo è) ch' egli hae abbandonato me, che sono fonte d'acqua viva; e hannosi cavato (e fatte) cisterne, (e sono) cisterne (fesse e) dissipate, le quali non possono tenere acqua.	13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
14 Or è egli servo Israel, ovver nato di servo? Per che dunque è egli fatto in preda?	14 Is Israel a servant? is he a homeborn slave? why is he spoiled?
15 Per che dunque ruggirono li leoni sopra lui, i quali hanno fatta la sua terra isbandita, e le sue cittadi sono arse, e non è chi le abiti?	15 The young lions roared upon him, and yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant.
16 E li figliuoli di Memfi e di Tafni (tanto) corruppero e vituperarono te insino al capo.	16 Also the children of Noph and Tahapanes have broken the crown of thy head.
17 Or non è questo fatto a te, però che tu hai abbandonato lo tuo Signore Iddio in quello tempo che ti menava per la via?	17 Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?
18 E ora che vuoi tu fare nella via di Egitto, acciò che tu beva l'acqua (del fiume) turbida? e per che vuoli tu fare con la via di quelli di Siria, acciò che tu bea l'acqua del fiume?	18 And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?
19 La tua malizia ti riprenderà, e lo tuo rivoltamento anche ti risponderà. Or sappi e vedi, che male e amaro è aver abbandonato lo tuo Signore Iddio, e non esser lo suo timore in te, dice Iddio. Signore delli esèrciti (e delle battaglie).	19 Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
20 Dal principio rompesti lo mio giogo, e rompesti li miei legami, e dicesti: non servirò. In ogni (luogo) colle e monte, e sotto ogni alboro fronduto, ti porrai a modo di meretrice.	20 For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot.
21 Ma io ti piantai per mia vigna eletta, e tutto è vero seme (di vigna): come se' tu voltata in (malfatta, rea e) prava vigna aliena?	21 Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?
22 Se ti laverai collo nitro (cioè d' una acqua come cristallo), e moltiplicherai a te molta erba di borit, (cioè che tu raduni molto di quella erba di borit), pur se' maculata e insozzata dinanzi da me, dice lo (nostro) Signore Iddio.	22 For though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord GOD.
23 Or che dici: io non sono corrutta e (come dici: io non andai e) non seguitai Baalim (cioè quello dio)? vedi le tue vie nella valle, e sappi quello che averai fatto; uno leggiere corriere manifestando le sue vie.	23 How canst thou say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: thou art a swift dromedary traversing her ways;
24 L' onagro, usato nel deserto, col desiderio. dell' anima sua attrasse lo vento del suo amore; (l'onagro si è un animale impaziente e lussurioso); nullo la poteo (ismuovere e) rivolgere della sua voglia; e tutti quelli che la addomandano, non verranno in difetto, (cioè che non si affaticheranno a trovarla, chè la troveranno tosto); e troverannola nelle sue brutture.	24 A wild ass used to the wilderness, that snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.
25 Guarda lo tuo piede dalla nudità, (cioè che non stia ignudo), e la tua gola dalla sete. E dicesti: io sono disperata, non lo voglio fare; io hoe amato gli altri iddii (e loro seguiterò) e dopo loro an lerò.	25 Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.
26 Sì come si confonde lo ladro quando è preso, così è confusa la casa d' Israel, essi e li suoi re e li suoi principi e li suoi sacerdoti e li suoi profeti.	26 As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,
27 Dissero al legno: tu se' mio (iddio e mio) padre; e alla pietra: tu m' hai generato. Rivolsonsi indietro a me colle reni, e [non] colla faccia; e poi quando verrà lo tempo della afflizione, diranno a me: o Iddio, lièvati suso, e liberaci (e aiutaci).	27 Saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.
28 Or dove sono i tuoi iddii, i quali tu hai fatti (ed eletti)? E' lèvinosi, e liberino te nel tempo della tua afflizione; o terra di Giudea, tanti avevi iddii, quanto era lo numero delle tue cittadi.	28 But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.
29 O per che volete voi meco (tutti) in giudicio contendere? Tutti m' abbandonaste, dice Iddio.	29 Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD.
30 Indarno battei (e corressi) li figliuoli vostri, però che non ricevettono la disciplina (e la mia dottrina); lo vostro coltello ha divorato (e morto) li vostri profeti; la vostra generazione è come uno leone guastatore (e disfattore).	30 In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.
31 Ragguardate (e pensate) la parola del nostro Signore or sono io fatto come uno deserto a Israel, o come la terra serotina? Per che dunque disse lo popolo mio: noi ci siamo partiti, e non verremo più a te?	31 O generation, see ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto thee?
32 O dimènticasi la vergine (e non ha memoria) del suo ornamento, e la sposa della fascia del suo petto? Ma lo mio popolo m'ha pure dimenticato (per tempo e) per dì sanza numero.	32 Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.
33 Per che ti sforzi di mostrare la tua buona via a dimandare amore, la quale anche hai insegnato (e dimostrato) alle tue vie le tue malizie?	33 Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love? therefore hast thou also taught the wicked ones thy ways.
34 E negli altri tuoi fatti è trovato lo sangue dell' anime de' poveri e delli innocenti (cioè de' non colpevoli); e non li trovai in quelle fosse, ma in quelle cose che io ho detto di sopra.	34 Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these.
35 E tu dicesti: io sono sanza peccato, e sono innocente; però partasi (e lievisi) lo tuo furore da me. Or ecco ch' io con giudicio contenderò teco, perciò che hai detto: non peccai.	35 Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned.
36 E se' fatta molto vile (molto) ricominciando le tue vie, e sarai confusa da Egitto, come tu sei confusa da Assur.	36 Why gaddest thou about so much to change thy way? thou also shalt be ashamed of Egypt, as thou wast ashamed of Assyria.
37 Imperciò che tu uscirai fuori da queste cose, e le tue mani saranno sopra lo tuo capo; perciò che Iddio hae atterrata (e attritata) la tua confidanza, e non averai alcuna cosa prospera (nè che molto ti sia in pace o diletto).	37 Yea, thou shalt go forth from him, and thine hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not prosper in them.
