Isaia 51

BIBBIA VOLGARE	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Udite (e ascoltate) me, voi i quali seguitate (e fate) quella cosa la quale è giusta, che addomandate (e chiedete) lo Signore; attendete (e riguardate) alla pietra onde voi siete spiccati, e alla caverna dello lago (cioè dello inferno) onde voi siete tagliati.	1 Give ear to me, you that follow that which is just, and you that seek the Lord: look unto the rock whence you are hewn, and to the hole of the pit from which you are dug out.
2 Attendete ad Abraam, lo vostro padre, e a Sara la qual partorì voi; però che io lo chiamai uno, e benedissilo, e fecilo moltiplicare. (Nota di quella parola: io chiamai uno, che lo chiamò uno, cioè singolare, cioè Cristo, che fue diviso dalli altri uomini).	2 Look unto Abraham your father, and to Sara that bore you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and multiplied him.
3 E Iddio consolerà Sion di tutte le sue rovine, e lo suo deserto sarà pieno di ricchezze e di diletti, e lo suo sbandeggiamento quasi come l'orto del Signore. E troverassi in lei allegrezza e letizia, e ringraziamento (a Dio) e voce di laude.	3 The Lord therefore will comfort Sion, and will comfort all the ruins thereof: and he will make her desert as a place of pleasure, and her wilderness as the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of praise.
4 O populo mio, attendi e riguarda me, e voi, ischiatte mie, udite me; però che la legge uscirà da me, e lo mio giudicio si riposerà nella luce del populo.	4 Hearken unto me, O my people, and give ear to me, O my tribes: for a law shall go forth from me, and my judgment shall rest to be a light of the nations.
5 Lo mio giusto è appresso, ed è uscito di fuori lo mio salvatore, e le mie braccia giudicherauno li populi; le isole aspetteranno me, e sosterranno lo mio braccio.	5 My just one is near at hand, my saviour is gone forth, and my arms shall judge the people: the islands shall look for me, and shall patiently wait for my arm.
6 Alzate nel cielo li vostri occhi; guardate sopra la terra di sotto; però che li cieli diverranno liquidi come fumo, e la terra sarà trita come vestimento, e li suoi abitatori così anche morranno; ma la mia salute sarà in sempiterno, e la giustizia [mia] non verrà meno.	6 Lift up your eyes to heaven, and look down to the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish like smoke, and the earth shall be worn away like a garment, and the inhabitants thereof shall perish in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my justice shall not fail.
7 O populo mio, ascolta me, il quale sai (e conoscesti) il giusto (cioè Cristo); la mia legge sarà nel tuo cuore; non vogliate temere lo vituperio delli uomini, e non abbiate paura della loro bestemmia.	7 Hearken to me, you that know what is just, my people who have my law in your heart: fear ye not the reproach of men, and be not afraid of their blasphemies.
8 Però che lo vermine li mangerà, come fussero uno vestimento; e la tignuola [li] divorerà sì come fussono lana; ma la mia salute sarà in sempiterno, e la mia giustizia starà insino nella generazione delle generazioni.	8 For the worm shall eat them up as a garment: and the moth shall consume them as wool: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my justice from generation to generation,
9 O braccio del Signore, lèvati suso e vestiti di fortezza; lèvati suso come nel tempo antico, nelle generazioni de' secoli. Or non percotesti tu lo superbo, e feristi lo dragone?	9 Arise, arise, put on strength, O thou arm of the Lord, arise as in the days of old, in the ancient generations. Hast not thou struck the proud one, and wounded the dragon?
10 Or non seccasti tu lo mare e l'acqua del grande abisso, e ponesti lo profondo del mare, e facestine via acciò che li liberati potessono andare?	10 Hast not thou dried up the sea, the water of the mighty deep, who madest the depth of the sea a way, that the delivered might pass over?
11 E ora ritorneranno quelli che sono ricomperati da Dio, e verranno in Sion laudando; allegrezza e letizia in sempiterno sarà sopra li suoi capi; e terranno allegrezza e letizia, e lo dolore e il pianto fuggirà via.	11 And now they that are redeemed by the Lord, shall return, and shall come into Sion singing praises, and joy everlasting shall be upon their heads, they shall obtain joy and gladness, sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
12 E io medesimo consolerò voi: chi sei tu che temi dall' uomo mortale, e del figliuolo dell' uomo, il quale diventarà arido come fieno?	12 I, I myself will comfort you: who art thou, that thou shouldst be afraid of a mortal man, and of the son of man, who shall wither away like grass?
13 E hai dimenticato lo Iddio tuo creatore, lo quale distese li cieli e fondò la terra; e sempre tutto lo dì avesti paura della faccia del suo furore, il quale avea tribulato te, e aveati apparecchiato a uccidere: dove è ora il furore de' tribulanti?	13 And thou hast forgotten the Lord thy maker, who stretched out the heavens, and founded the earth: and thee hast been afraid continually all the day at the presence of his fury who afflicted thee, and had prepared himself to destroy thee: where is now the fury of the oppressor?
14 Certo tosto verrà andante ad aprire; e non ucciderà insino all' uccisione, e lo suo pane uon verrà meno. (E nota che dice: ad aprire, cioè lo cuore de' superbi per la grazia; e poi dice: non ad uccidere, cioè che non ucciderà li peccatori così tosto; chè prima li chiamerà a penitenza, come dice Santo Matteo nel XIIII capitolo: fate penitenza, e dice a' peccatori; e poi dice che lo loro pane non verrà meno, cioè Cristo, il quale è vero e dolce pane).	14 He shall quickly come that is going to open unto you, and he shall not kill unto utter destruction, neither shall his bread fail.
15 E io sono lo tuo Signore Iddio, il quale conturbo il mare, e foe enfiare le sue onde; e lo mio nome sì è lo Signore delli esèrciti.	15 But I am the Lord thy God, who trouble the sea, and the waves thereof swell: the Lord of hosts is my name.
16 E hoe poste le mie parole (e li miei detti) nella tua bocca, e difesi te sotto l'ombra della mia mano, acciò che tu pianti li cieli, e fondi la terra, e dichi a Sion: tu se' lo mio populo.	16 I have put my words in thy mouth, and have protected thee in the shadow of my hand, that thou mightest plant the heavens, and found the earth: and mightest say to Sion: Thou art my people.
17 Lièvati, lièvati suso, e lièvati, Ierusalem, la quale hai bevuto della mano del Signore lo calice della sua ira; e bevesti insino al fondo del calice dello sopore, e bevestilo insino alla feccia.	17 Arise, arise, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of his wrath; thou hast drunk even to the bottom of the cup of dead sleep, and thou hast drunk even to the dregs.
18 E non è chi la sostenga di tutti li figliuoli suoi li quali generò; e non è chi pigli la sua mano di quanti figliuoli ella ha nutrito.	18 There is none that can uphold her among all the children that she hath brought forth: and there is none that taketh her by the hand among all the children that she hath brought up.
19 Due cose sono le quali vennero incontro a te; e chi si contristerà di te? lo guastamento e lo spezzamento, e la fame e lo coltello; or chi consolerà te?	19 There are two things that have happened to thee: who shall be sorry for thee? desolation, and destruction, and the famine, and the sword, who shall comfort thee?
20 Non [li] tuoi figliuoli, però che sono gittati e dormirono in capo di tutte le vie, sì come la bestia allacciata; e sono pieni d'indignazione del Signore, e di riprensione dello tuo Iddio.	20 Thy children are cast forth, they have slept at the head of all the ways, as the wild ox that is snared: full of the indignation of the Lord, of the rebuke of thy God.
21 E però tu, poverella, odi (questa percossa); e sei ebria, ma non di vino (cioè che se' ebria di tribulazione).	21 Therefore hear this, thou poor little one, and thou that art drunk but no with wine.
22 Questo dice lo Signore tuo e lo tuo Iddio, lo quale combatte per lo suo popolo: ecco ch' io hoe tolto della tua mano lo calice del sonno, lo fondo del calice della mia indignazione; io non consentirò che tu beva più quello.	22 Thus saith thy Sovereign the Lord and thy God, who will fight for his people: Behold I have taken out of thy hand the cup of dead sleep, the dregs of the cup of my indignation, thou shalt not drink it again any more.
23 E porrò quello nella (loro) mano di coloro li quali adumiliarono te, e dissono all' anima tua: inchinati giuso, acciò che noi passiamo; e ponesti lo tuo corpo come terra, e come via alli andanti.	23 And I will put it in the hand of them that have oppressed thee, and have said to thy soul: Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as a way to them that went over.
