1 Venne Roboam in Ierusalem, e convocò tutta la casa di Giuda e di Beniamin, CLXXX milia eletti a combattere, per combattere contra ad Israel, e per fare ritornare a sè il suo regno.	1 And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he gathered of the house of Judah and Benjamin an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.
2 E la parola di Dio fu fatta a Semeia, uomo di Dio, e disse:	2 But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
3 Favella a Roboam figliuolo di Salomone, re di Giuda, e a tutto Israel, il quale è in Giuda in Beniamin:	3 Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
4 Questo dice il Signore: non ascendete, e non combattete contro a' vostri fratelli; ciascuno ritorni a casa sua, però che questo si è fatto di mia volontà. I quali udito il sermone del Signore, ritornaronsi, e non andarono incontro al re Ieroboam.	4 Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house: for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of the LORD, and returned from going against Jeroboam.
5 E Roboam abitò in Ierusalem, ed edificò in Giuda cittadi murate.	5 And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defence in Judah.
6 E conciò Betleem ed Etam e Tecue,	6 He built even Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
7 Betsur e Soco e Odollam,	7 And Beth-zur, and Shoco, and Adullam,
8 e Get e Maresa e Zif,	8 And Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
9 e Aduram e Lachis e Azeca,	9 And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
10 e Saraa e Aialon ed Ebron, le quali erano in Giuda e in Beniamin, città fortissime.	10 And Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin fenced cities.
11 E avendole chiuse di mura, puose in loro principi, e cellai di cibi, cioè d' olio e di vino.	11 And he fortified the strong holds, and put captains in them, and store of victual, and of oil and wine.
12 E a ciascuna città fece armamentarii di scuda e di lancie, e fortificolle con molta diligenza; e signoreggiò sopra Giuda e Beniamin.	12 And in every several city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong, having Judah and Benjamin on his side.
13 E i sacerdoti e i Leviti, i quali erano in tutto Israel, vennero a lui di tutte le sedi loro,	13 And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their coasts.
14 lasciando le loro abitazioni e possessioni; e andàronsene a Giuda e a Ierusalem, però che Ieroboam gli avea cacciati e' suoi successori, acciò ch' egli non potessono usare l'officio del sacerdote di Dio.	14 For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest's office unto the LORD:
15 Il quale (Ieroboam) ordinò a sè sacerdoti dei luoghi alti e de' demonii e de' vitelli, li quali egli avea fatti.	15 And he ordained him priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made.
16 E di tutte le tribù d' Israel, tutti quelli i quali aveano dato il suo cuore a domandare il Signore Iddio d' Israel, vennero in Ierusalem a sacrificare vittime al Signore Iddio degli padri loro.	16 And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers.
17 E fortificarono il regno di Giuda, e confermarono Roboam figliuolo di Salomone per tre anni; però che andarono per le vie di David e di Salomone solamente tre anni.	17 So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years: for three years they walked in the way of David and Solomon.
18 E menò Roboam moglie Maalat figliuola di Ierimot figliuolo di David, e Abiail figliuola di Eliab figliuolo di Isai;	18 And Rehoboam took him Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David to wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
19 la quale fece a lui figliuoli Ieus e Somoria e Zoom.	19 Which bare him children; Jeush, and Shamariah, and Zaham.
20 E dopo questa tolse Maaca figliuola di Absalom, la quale partorì Abia, Etai e Ziza e Salomit.	20 And after her he took Maachah the daughter of Absalom; which bare him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
21 E Roboam amò Maaca figliuola di Absalom sopra tutte le donne sue e concubine; e avea menate XVIII mogli, e sessanta concubine; e generd XXVIII figliuoli e LX figliuole.	21 And Rehoboam loved Maachah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines; and begat twenty and eight sons, and threescore daughters.)
22 E fece in capo Abia figliuolo di Maaca, e puoselo duca sopra tutti i fratelli suoi; però che lui pensava di fare re,	22 And Rehoboam made Abijah the son of Maachah the chief, to be ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him king.
23 però che fu più savio e più possente che tutti i suoi figliuoli in tutti gli confini di Giuda e di Beniamin, e in tutte le città murate; e diede loro molta vittuaglia, e domandò molte mogli.	23 And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his children throughout all the countries of Judah and Benjamin, unto every fenced city: and he gave them victual in abundance. And he desired many wives.
