BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Compiuto Salomone lo edificio della casa di Dio, e anche l'edificio del re, e tutto quello che aveva voluto e desiderato di fare,	1 When Solomon had finished building the Temple of Yahweh, the royal palace and everything else whichSolomon had wanted to do,
2 apparvegli Dio la seconda volta, sì come gli era apparuto in Gabaon.	2 Yahweh appeared to Solomon a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.
3 E disse a lui il Signore: io hoe esaudita la tua orazione e il tuo priego, del quale nel mio cospetto mi pregasti; questa casa, la quale tu hai edificata, io l' hoe santificata, acciò che in sempiterno ci sia il mio nome; e sarannoci gli miei occhii e il mio cuore tutto il dì.	3 Yahweh said to him, 'I have heard your prayer and the entreaty which you have before me. I consecratethis temple which you have built: I place my name there for ever; my eyes and my heart wil be there always.
4 E se tu anderai nel mio cospetto, sì come andò il padre tuo, con semplicità di cuore ed equità, e farai tutto quello ch' io ti comando, e le mie leggi terrai, e farai gli miei giudicii;	4 For your part, if you walk before me in innocence of heart and in honesty, like your father David, if youdo everything that I command and keep my laws and my ordinances,
5 io porrò la sedia del tuo regno sopra Israel in sempiterno, sì come io dissi al tuo padre David: non sarà tolto uomo della tua generazione della sedia d' Israel.	5 I shal make your royal throne secure over Israel for ever, as I promised your father David when I said,"You wil never lack for a man on the throne of Israel."
6 Ma se voi e i vostri figliuoli volgerete, non seguiterete me, e non osserverete (me nè) i comandamenti miei e le mie osservanze le quali io v'ho date, ma anderete e coltiverete gli altrui Iddii e adorerete;	6 But if you turn away from me, either you or your descendants, and instead of keeping mycommandments and laws which I have laid down for you, you go and serve other gods and worship them,
7 io torrò via Israel della terra la quale io ho data loro; e il tempio, il quale io ho santificato nel mio nome, gitterò dal mio cospetto; e Israel sarà in proverbio e in favola a tutte le genti.	7 then I shal banish Israel from the country which I have given them, and shall disown this Temple which Ihave consecrated for my name, and Israel will be a proverb and a byword among al peoples.
8 E questa casa sarà in esempio; ogni persona, che passerà per essa, isbigottirà e sibilerà, dicendo: perchè il Signore ha fatto così a questa terra e a questa casa?	8 As for this once-exalted Temple, everyone who passes by wil be appal ed, and they wil whistle and say,"Why has Yahweh treated this country and this Temple like this?"
9 E risponderanno: però che lasciarono il loro Signore, il quale trasse i padri loro della terra d'Egitto, e seguitarono gli dii altrui, e adorarongli e coltivarongli; e però il Signore hae mandato sopra di loro tutto questo male.	9 And the answer wil be, "Because they deserted Yahweh their God who brought their ancestors out ofEgypt, and they adopted other gods and worshipped and served them; that is why Yahweh has brought al thesedisasters on them." '
10 E compiuti XX anni, poi che Salomone ebbe edificate due case, cioè la casa di Dio e quella del re;	10 At the end of the twenty years that it took Solomon to erect the two buildings, the Temple of Yahwehand the royal palace
11 dando a Salomone Iram re di Tiro legni cedrini e di abeto e oro per l'opera ch' egli avea a fare; allora diede Salomone ad Iram XX castelle in la terra di Galilea.	11 (Hiram king of Tyre had provided Solomon with al the cedar wood, juniper wood and gold that hewanted), King Solomon gave Hiram twenty towns in the territory of Galilee.
12 E uscì fuori Iram di Tiro, per vedere le castelle le quali avea dato a lui Salomone; e non li piacettero.	12 But when Hiram came from Tyre to view the towns that Solomon had given him, he was not pleasedwith them.
13 E disse queste sono le città che tu mi hai dato, fratello? E sì le nominò terre di Cabul, insino al presente dì.	13 He said, 'What kind of towns are these you have given me, brother?' And to this day they are known as'cabul-land'.
14 E mandò Iram a Salomone re CXX talenti d'oro.	14 Hiram sent the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold.
15 E questa è la somma delle spese che Salomone diede per edificare il tempio di Dio e la casa sua e Mello e le mura di Ierusalem ed Eser e Mageddo e Gazer.	15 This is an account of the forced labour levied by King Solomon for building the Temple of Yahweh, hisown palace, the Mil o and the fortifications of Jerusalem, Hazor, Megiddo, Gezer
16 Faraone re d'Egitto venne, e pigliò Gazer, e arsela; e uccise il Cananeo il quale abitava nella città, e diella (a Salomone) per dote della sua figliuola moglie di Salomone.	16 (Pharaoh king of Egypt mounted an expedition, captured Gezer, burnt it down and massacred theCanaanites living there; he then gave the town as a dowry to his daughter, Solomon's wife,
17 Onde che Salomone edificò Gazer, e Beteron di sotto,	17 and Solomon rebuilt Gezer), Lower Beth-Horon,
18 e Baalat e Palmira nella terra della solitudine.	18 Baalath, Tamar in the desert, inside the country,
19 E tutti i borghi, che apparteneano a lui ed erano senza le mura, muroe; e fornìo le città di carri, e le città di cavalli, e tutto quello che gli piacque di edificare in Ierusalem e nel Libano e in tutta la terra della sua podestà.	19 al Solomon's storage towns owned by Solomon, al the towns for his chariots and horses, andwhatever Solomon was pleased to build in Jerusalem, in the Lebanon and in al the countries under his rule.
20 Tutto il popolo ch' era rimaso degli Etei e Ferezei, e degli Evei e Iebusei, i quali non sono de' figliuoli d' Israel;	20 Al those who survived of the Amorite, Hittite, Perizzite, Hivite and Jebusite peoples, who were notIsraelites-
21 i figliuoli di costoro, i quali erano rimasi nella terra, i quali i figliuoli d' Israel non gli avean potuto estirpare; Salomone gli fece tributarii insino al dì d' oggi.	21 their descendants still remaining in the country on whom the Israelites had not been able to enforce thecurse of destruction -- these Solomon levied as forced labourers, as is stil the case today.
22 Ma de' figliuoli d' Israel non ordinò Salomone che nessuno fosse servo; ma erano uomini da battaglia, e suoi ministri, e principi, e capitani, e prefetti di carri e di cavalli.	22 Solomon did not, however, impose forced labour on the Israelites; for they were soldiers, his officials,his administrators, his officers and his chariot and cavalry commanders.
23 E sopra tutte l'opere di Salomone erano principi e preposti [cinquecento] cinquanta, i quali aveano il popolo soggetto, ed eglino comandavano nell' opere ordinate.	23 There were five hundred and fifty officials in charge of the foremen over Solomon's work, whosupervised the people employed on the work.
24 E la figliuola di Faraone ascendè della città di David, e sì andò nella sua casa, la quale Salomone gli avea fatta; e allora edificò Mello.	24 After Pharaoh's daughter had moved from the City of David up to the palace which he had built for her,he then built the Mil o.
25 E offerea Salomone tre volte l'anno olocausti pacifichi e vittime sopra l'altare il quale avea edificato al Signore, e fumava timiama nel cospetto del Signore; e fu compiuto il tempio.	25 Three times a year Solomon presented burnt offerings and communion sacrifices on the altar which hehad built for Yahweh and set his burnt offerings smoking before Yahweh. Thus he completed the Temple.
26 E fece Salomone navi in Asiongaber, la quale è presso ad Ailat nella riva del mare rosso nella terra d' Idumea.	26 King Solomon equipped a fleet at Ezion-Geber, which is near Elath on the shores of the Red Sea, inEdom.
27 E Iram mandò i servi suoi in quelle navi, uomini navicatori e savii di mare, co' servi di Salomone.	27 For this fleet Hiram sent men of his, experienced sailors, to serve with those in Solomon's service.
28 I quali venuti in Ofir, tolsero indi oro, CCCCXX talenti, e portaronlo al re Salomone.	28 They went to Ophir and took on four hundred and twenty talents of gold, which they brought back toSolomon.
