Seconda lettera ai Corinzi 3

1 Cominciamo di nuovo a raccomandare noi stessi? O forse abbiamo bisogno, come altri, di lettere commendatizie per voi o da parte vostra?	1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
2 La nostra lettera siete voi, lettera scritta nei nostri cuori, conosciuta e letta da tutti gli uomini;	2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3 poiché è noto che voi siete una lettera di Cristo redatta da noi, vergata non con inchiostro, ma con lo spirito del Dio vivo, non su tavole di pietra, ma su tavole che sono cuori di carne.	3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
4 Questa è la fiducia che abbiamo in Cristo, davanti a Dio.	4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
5 Non che ci crediamo capaci di pensare qualcosa da noi stessi,	5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
6 ma la nostra capacità viene da Dio che ci ha resi ministri idonei della nuova alleanza, non della lettera ma dello Spirito; la lettera uccide, lo Spirito vivifica.	6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
7 E se il ministero della morte, inciso in lettere su pietre, era così glorioso al punto che i figli di Israele non potevano fissare il volto di Mosè a motivo della gloria, che pure svaniva, del suo volto,	7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
8 quanto più non sarà glorioso il ministero dello Spirito?	8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
9 Se già il ministero della condanna fu glorioso, molto di più il ministero della giustizia rifulgerà nella gloria.	9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
10 Ché, anzi, sotto quest'aspetto, quello che era glorioso perde il suo splendore a confronto della sovreminenza della gloria attuale.	10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
11 Se dunque ciò che era passeggero era glorioso, molto di più è circonfuso di gloria ciò che è duraturo.	11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
12 Forti di tale speranza, ci comportiamo con molta franchezza	12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
13 e non facciamo come Mosè che poneva un velo sul suo volto, perché i figli d'Israele non vedessero la fine di quello che svaniva.	13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
14 Ma le loro menti si sono accecate; infatti fino ad oggi quel medesimo velo rimane quando si legge l'antica alleanza e non si rende manifesto che Cristo lo ha abolito.	14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
15 Fino ad oggi, quando si legge Mosè, un velo pesa sul loro cuore;	15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
16 ma quando ci sarà la conversione al Signore, quel velo sarà tolto.	16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
17 Il Signore è lo Spirito, e dove c'è lo Spirito del Signore c'è libertà!	17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18 Noi, dunque, riflettendo senza velo sul volto la gloria del Signore, veniamo trasformati in quella medesima immagine di gloria in gloria, conforme all'azione del Signore che è Spirito.	18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
