| 1 Anch'io, o fratelli, quando sono venuto tra voi, non mi sono presentato ad annunziarvi la testimonianza di Dio con sublimità di parola o di sapienza. | 1 When I came to you, brethren, I did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God in lofty words or wisdom. |
| 2 Mi ero proposto di non sapere altro in mezzo a voi che Gesù Cristo, e lui crocifisso. | 2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. |
| 3 E fui in mezzo a voi nella debolezza e con molto timore e tremore; | 3 And I was with you in weakness and in much fear and trembling; |
| 4 e la mia parola e il mio messaggio non ebbero discorsi persuasivi di sapienza, ma conferma di Spirito e di potenza, | 4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, |
| 5 affinché la vostra fede non si basi su una sapienza umana, ma sulla potenza di Dio. | 5 that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. |
| 6 Annunziamo, sì, una sapienza a quelli che sono perfetti, ma una sapienza non di questo mondo, né dei prìncipi di questo mondo che vengono annientati; | 6 Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. |
| 7 annunziamo una sapienza divina, avvolta nel mistero, che fu a lungo nascosta, e che Dio ha preordinato prima dei tempi per la nostra gloria. | 7 But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glorification. |
| 8 Nessuno dei prìncipi di questo mondo l'ha conosciuta; se l'avessero conosciuta, non avrebbero crocifisso il Signore della gloria. | 8 None of the rulers of this age understood this; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. |
| 9 Sta scritto infatti: Cosa che occhio non vide, né orecchio udì, né mai entrò in cuore di uomo, ciò che Dio ha preparato per quelli che lo amano. | 9 But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him," |
| 10 Ma a noi l'ha rivelato mediante lo Spirito; lo Spirito infatti scruta ogni cosa, anche le profondità di Dio. | 10 God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. |
| 11 Chi mai conobbe i segreti dell'uomo se non lo spirito dell'uomo che è in lui? Così pure i segreti di Dio nessuno li ha mai conosciuti se non lo Spirito di Dio. | 11 For what person knows a man's thoughts except the spirit of the man which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. |
| 12 E noi abbiamo ricevuto non lo spirito del mondo, ma lo Spirito che viene da Dio, per conoscere i doni che egli ci ha elargito. | 12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. |
| 13 E questi noi li annunziamo, non con insegnamenti di sapienza umana, ma con insegnamenti dello Spirito, esponendo cose spirituali a persone spirituali. | 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who possess the Spirit. |
| 14 L'uomo naturale non comprende le cose dello Spirito di Dio; sono follìa per lui, e non è capace di intenderle, perché se ne giudica solo per mezzo dello Spirito. | 14 The unspiritual man does not receive the gifts of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. |
| 15 L'uomo spirituale invece giudica ogni cosa, senza poter essere giudicato da nessuno. | 15 The spiritual man judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. |
| 16 Chi, infatti, conobbe la mente del Signore da poterlo dirigere? Ora noi abbiamo la mente di Cristo. | 16 "For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ. |
