| 3 Giunsero pure alcuni che accompagnavano un paralitico, sostenuto da quattro uomini. | 3 And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. |
| 4 Ma non potendo avvicinarsi a lui a causa della folla, scoperchiarono il tetto sul punto ove egli si trovava e, praticato un foro, calarono giù il lettuccio su cui giaceva il paralitico. | 4 And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and when they had made an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic lay. |
| 5 Gesù, allora, vedendo la loro fede, disse al paralitico: "Figliolo, ti sono rimessi i tuoi peccati!". | 5 And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "My son, your sins are forgiven." |

| 8 Ma Gesù, avendo conosciuto subito nel suo spirito che così pensavano, dice loro: "Perché pensate tali cose nei vostri cuori? | 8 And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, "Why do you question thus in your hearts? |
| 9 Che è più facile dire al paralitico: "Ti sono rimessi i tuoi peccati", oppure dire: "Sorgi, prendi il tuo lettuccio e cammina"? | 9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say,' Rise, take up your pallet and walk? |
| 10 Ora, affinché sappiate che il Figlio dell'uomo ha potestà di rimettere i peccati sulla terra - dice al paralitico: - | 10 But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--he said to the paralytic-- |
| 11 Dico a te: sorgi, prendi il tuo lettuccio e vattene a casa". | 11 "I say to you, rise, take up your pallet and go home." |
| 12 Allora quello si alzò, prese subito il lettuccio e se ne uscì alla presenza di tutti; sicché tutti ne restarono stupefatti e lodavano Dio dicendo: "Non abbiamo mai visto nulla di simile!". | 12 And he rose, and immediately took up the pallet and went out before them all; so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like this!" |

| 16 Gli scribi dei farisei, vedendo che egli mangiava assieme ai peccatori e ai pubblicani, dicevano ai suoi discepoli: "Perché mangia assieme ai pubblicani e ai peccatori?". | 16 And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, "Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?" |
| 17 Ma egli, udito ciò, rispose loro: "Non sono i sani che hanno bisogno del medico, ma gli ammalati. Non sono venuto a chiamare i giusti, ma i peccatori". | 17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I came not to call the righteous, but sinners." |
| 18 In quel tempo i discepoli di Giovanni e i farisei stavano facendo un digiuno. Allora vengono alcuni e gli dicono: "Perché i discepoli di Giovanni e i discepoli dei farisei digiunano, mentre i tuoi discepoli non digiunano?". | 18 Now John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting; and people came and said to him, "Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?" |
| 19 Rispose loro Gesù: "Possono forse gli invitati a nozze digiunare mentre lo sposo è ancora con loro? Per tutto il tempo che hanno lo sposo con loro, non possono digiunare. | 19 And Jesus said to them, "Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. |
| 20 Verrà il tempo, tuttavia, in cui lo sposo sarà loro tolto via, e allora, in quel giorno, digiuneranno. | 20 The days will come, when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day. |
| 21 Nessuno cuce una toppa di panno grezzo su un vestito vecchio; altrimenti il panno nuovo, che è stato aggiunto, rompe quello vecchio e lo strappo diventa peggiore. | 21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; if he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. |
| 22 Similmente nessuno mette vino nuovo in otri vecchi, ma vino nuovo in otri nuovi; altrimenti il vino fa scoppiare gli otri e così si perdono e vino e otri". | 22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost, and so are the skins; but new wine is for fresh skins." |
| 23 Or mentre egli, di sabato, passava attraverso i campi seminati, i suoi discepoli durante il cammino si misero a raccogliere le spighe. | 23 One sabbath he was going through the grainfields; and as they made their way his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. |
| 24 I farisei, perciò, gli dissero: "Guarda! Perché fanno ciò che di sabato non è lecito?". | 24 And the Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the sabbath?" |
| 25 Rispose loro: "Non avete mai letto ciò che fece Davide, quando si trovò nel bisogno e tanto lui quanto i suoi compagni avevano fame? | 25 And he said to them, "Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him: |
| 26 Come, cioè, al tempo del sommo sacerdote Abiatàr entrò nella casa di Dio e mangiò i pani sacri, che non possono mangiare se non i sacerdoti, e ne diede pure ai suoi compagni?". | 26 how he entered the house of God, when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?" |
| 27 E diceva loro: "Il sabato è fatto per l'uomo e non l'uomo per il sabato. | 27 And he said to them, "The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath; |
| 28 Pertanto il Figlio dell'uomo è padrone anche del sabato". | 28 so the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath." |
