Isaia 17

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Oracolo su Damasco. Ecco, Damasco cesserà di essere una città e diventerà un cumulo di rovine.	1 Proclamation about Damascus: Damascus wil soon cease to be a city, it wil become a heap of ruins.
2 Per sempre saranno abbandonate le sue città, diventeranno pascoli per le greggi, che vi si accovacceranno senza che qualcuno le spaventi.	2 Its towns, abandoned for ever, wil be pastures for flocks; there they wil rest with no one to disturbthem.
3 Tolte saranno ad Efraim le fortificazioni e a Damasco il regno; il resto di Aram avrà una gloria simile a quella dei figli d'Israele. Oracolo del Signore degli eserciti.	3 Ephraim wil be stripped of its defences and Damascus of its sovereignty; and the remnant of Aram wilbe treated like the glory of the Israelites -- declares Yahweh Sabaoth.
4 In quel giorno la gloria di Giacobbe sfumerà e il grasso della sua carne sarà ridotto.	4 When that day comes, Jacob's glory wil diminish, from being fat he wil grow lean;
5 Sarà come quando il mietitore prende una bracciata di grano e il suo braccio taglia le spighe, come quando si raccolgono le spighe nella valle di Rèfaim.	5 as when a reaper gathers in the standing corn, harvesting the ears of corn with his arm, or when theyglean the ears in the Val ey of Rephaim,
6 Vi rimarranno solo racimoli, come quando si bacchiano le olive; due o tre bacche sulla cima dell'albero, quattro o cinque sui rami dell'albero. Oracolo del Signore, Dio d'Israele.	6 nothing wil remain but pickings, as when an olive tree is beaten; two or three berries left on thetopmost bough, four or five berries on the branches of the tree -- declares Yahweh, God of Israel.
7 In quel giorno l'uomo volgerà lo sguardo al suo Creatore e i suoi occhi guarderanno al Santo d'Israele.	7 That day, a man wil look to his Creator and his eyes wil turn to the Holy One of Israel.
8 Egli non si volgerà più agli altari, opera delle sue mani; non vedrà più ciò che hanno eseguito le sue mani, i pali sacri e gli altari.	8 He will no longer look to altars, his own handiwork, or to what his own fingers have made: the sacredpoles and incense-altars.
9 In quel giorno le tue città saranno abbandonate, come quelle che l'Eveo e l'Amorreo abbandonarono di fronte ai figli d'Israele e sarà una desolazione.	9 That day, its cities of refuge wil be abandoned as were the woods and heaths at the Israelites'advance: there wil be desolation.
10 Perché hai dimenticato Dio, tuo salvatore, e non ti sei ricordato della Rocca, tuo rifugio, per cui hai piantato delle piantagioni amene, e inserito dei germogli esotici.	10 Since you have forgotten the God of your salvation, and failed to keep the Rock, your refuge, in mind,you plant pleasure-gardens, you sow exotic seeds;
11 Di giorno fai crescere ciò che hai piantato e il mattino fai germogliare i tuoi semi, ma nel giorno della sventura svanisce la raccolta e il dolore è incurabile.	11 the day you plant them, you get them to sprout, and, next morning, your seedlings are in flower; butthe harvest wil vanish on the day of disease and incurable pain.
12 Guai, un tumulto di popoli numerosi, tumultuanti come il tumulto dei mari, rumore di popoli come il rumore travolgente di acque potenti.	12 Disaster! The thunder of vast hordes, a thunder like the thunder of the seas, the roar of nationsroaring like the roar of mighty floods,
13 I popoli rumoreggiano come il rumore di grandi acque, ma egli le minaccia e fuggono lontano, sospinte come la pula dei monti di fronte al vento, e come il vortice davanti al turbine.	13 of nations roaring like the roar of ocean! He rebukes them and far away they flee, driven like chaff onthe mountains before the wind, like an eddy of dust before the storm.
14 Alla sera, ecco, c'è il terrore, prima ancora del mattino non c'è più nulla. Questo è il destino di chi ci preda, e la sorte di chi ci saccheggia.	14 At evening al is terror, by morning al have disappeared. Such wil be the lot of those who plunder us,such, the fate of our despoilers.
