| 1 Davide radunò un'altra volta tutti gli uomini scelti d'Israele in numero di trentamila. | 1 David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. |
| 2 Poi si levò con tutto il suo popolo e partì da Baalà di Giuda per prelevare l'arca di Dio dedicata al Signore degli eserciti che siede sui cherubini. | 2 And David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale-judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the LORD of hosts who sits enthroned on the cherubim. |
| 3 Caricarono l'arca di Dio su un carro nuovo e l'asportarono dalla casa di Abinadàb, che era sulla collina. Uzzà e Achìo, figli di Abinadàb, guidavano il carro nuovo. | 3 And they carried the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was on the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were driving the new cart |

| 5 Davide e tutta la casa d'Israele facevano festa alla presenza del Signore con tutte le loro forze, cantando con cetre, arpe, tamburi, sistri e cembali. | 5 And David and all the house of Israel were making merry before the LORD with all their might, with songs and lyres and harps and tambourines and castanets and cymbals. |
| 6 Giunti all'aia di Nacon, Uzzà stese la mano verso l'arca di Dio e l'afferrò, perché i buoi avevano deviato. | 6 And when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. |
| 7 Allora si accese l'ira del Signore contro Uzzà e Dio lo abbatté lì per quella temerità ed egli morì presso l'arca di Dio. | 7 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there because he put forth his hand to the ark; and he died there beside the ark of God. |
| 8 Davide rimase costernato dal fatto che il Signore avesse investito con impeto Uzzà. Così fu quel luogo chiamato Perez-Uzzà fino ad oggi. | 8 And David was angry because the LORD had broken forth upon Uzzah; and that place is called Perez-uzzah, to this day. |
| 9 In quel giorno Davide ebbe timore del Signore e disse: "Come potrà venire da me l'arca del Signore?". | 9 And David was afraid of the LORD that day; and he said, "How can the ark of the LORD come to me?" |
| 10 Davide non volle trasportare presso di sé l'arca del Signore nella Città di Davide, ma la fece condurre alla casa di Obed-Edom, di Gat. | 10 So David was not willing to take the ark of the LORD into the city of David; but David took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. |
| 11 L'arca del Signore rimase per tre mesi nella casa di Obed-Edom, di Gat; il Signore benedisse Obed-Edom e tutta la sua casa. | 11 And the ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months; and the LORD blessed Obed-edom and all his household. |
| 12 Fu riferito al re Davide: "Il Signore ha benedetto la casa di Obed-Edom e tutte le sue cose a causa dell'arca di Dio". Allora Davide andò e trasportò con festa l'arca di Dio dalla casa di Obed-Edom alla Città di Davide. | 12 And it was told King David, "The LORD has blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God." So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom to the city of David with rejoicing; |
| 13 Quando i portatori dell'arca del Signore ebbero fatto sei passi, egli sacrificò un bue e un vitello grasso. | 13 and when those who bore the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling. |
| 14 Davide danzava con tutto l'ardore davanti al Signore, cinto di un efod di lino. | 14 And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. |
| 15 Così Davide e tutta la casa d'Israele trasportarono l'arca del Signore con acclamazioni e con suono di corno. | 15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the horn. |
| 16 Quando l'arca del Signore stava entrando nella Città di Davide, Mikal, figlia di Saul, si affacciò alla finestra e visto il re Davide saltare e danzare davanti al Signore, lo disprezzò in cuor suo. | 16 As the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window, and saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart. |
| 17 L'arca del Signore fu introdotta e messa al suo posto in mezzo alla tenda che Davide aveva eretto per essa. Poi Davide offrì olocausti e sacrifici davanti al Signore. | 17 And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in its place, inside the tent which David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD. |
| 18 Terminato di offrire l'olocausto e i sacrifici, Davide benedisse il popolo nel nome del Signore degli eserciti. | 18 And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts, |
| 19 Poi distribuì a tutto il popolo, a tutta la moltitudine d'Israele, uomini e donne, una focaccia di pane, un pezzo di carne, un pugno di uva passa. E tutto il popolo se ne ritornò, ognuno a casa sua. | 19 and distributed among all the people, the whole multitude of Israel, both men and women, to each a cake of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins. Then all the people departed, each to his house. |
| 20 Quando Davide fece ritorno per benedire la sua casa, gli uscì incontro Mikal, figlia di Saul, e disse: "Come si è fatto onore oggi il re d'Israele, che si è spogliato sotto gli occhi delle serve dei suoi servi, proprio come si spoglia uno dei tanti sfaccendati!". | 20 And David returned to bless his household. But Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, "How the king of Israel honored himself today, uncovering himself today before the eyes of his servants' maids, as one of the vulgar fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!" |
| 21 Davide rispose a Mikal: "Voglio danzare alla presenza del Signore, che mi ha preferito a tuo padre e a tutta la sua casa, stabilendomi principe sul popolo del Signore, su Israele; sì, alla presenza del Signore | 21 And David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me above your father, and above all his house, to appoint me as prince over Israel, the people of the LORD--and I will make merry before the LORD. |
| 22 mi renderò spregevole ancor più di così e sarò umile ai suoi occhi, ma presso le serve di cui mi parli, presso di loro, voglio coprirmi di gloria". | 22 I will make myself yet more contemptible than this, and I will be abased in your eyes; but by the maids of whom you have spoken, by them I shall be held in honor." |
| 23 Mikal, figlia di Saul, non ebbe figli fino al giorno della sua morte. | 23 And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death. |
