Proverbs 6

1 My son, if you have taken a pledge on behalf of your friend, then you have bound your hand to an outsider,	1 FIGLIUOL mio, se tu hai fatta sicurtà al tuo prossimo, Se tu hai toccata la mano allo strano,
2 then you are ensnared by the words of your own mouth, and taken captive by your own words.	2 Tu sei allacciato con le parole della tua bocca, Tu sei preso con le parole della tua bocca.
3 Therefore, my son, do what I say, and free yourself, for you have fallen into the hand of your neighbor. Run, hurry, awaken your friend.	3 Ora fa’ questo, figliuol mio, e riscuotiti; Poichè tu sei caduto in man del tuo prossimo, Va’, gittati a’ piedi de’ tuoi amici, e sollecitali.
4 Do not grant sleep to your eyes, nor let your eyelids slumber.	4 Non lasciar dormire gli occhi tuoi, Nè sonnecchiar le tue palpebre.
5 Rescue yourself like a gazelle from the hand, and like a bird from the hand of the fowler.	5 Riscuotiti, come un cavriuolo di mano del cacciatore, E come un uccello di mano dell’uccellatore
6 Go to the ant, you lazy one, and consider her ways, and so learn wisdom.	6 Va’, pigro, alla formica; Riguarda le sue vie, e diventa savio;
7 For though she has no ruler, nor instructor, nor leader,	7 Conciossiachè ella non abbia nè capitano, Nè magistrato, nè signore;
8 she provides meals for herself in the summer, and she gathers at the harvest what she may eat.	8 E pure ella apparecchia nella state il suo cibo, E raduna nella ricolta il suo mangiare.
9 How long will you slumber, you lazy one? When will you rise up from your sleep?	9 Infino a quando, o pigro, giacerai? Quando ti desterai dal tuo sonno?
10 You will sleep a little, you will slumber a little, you will fold your hands a little to sleep,	10 Dormendo un poco, sonnecchiando un poco, Piegando un poco le braccia per riposare;
11 and then destitution will meet with you, like a traveler, and poverty, like an armed man. Yet truly, if you would be diligent, then your harvest will arrive like a fountain, and destitution will flee far from you.	11 La tua povertà verrà come un viandante, E la tua necessità come uno scudiere
12 An apostate man, a harmful man, walks with a perverse mouth;	12 L’uomo scellerato, l’uomo da nulla, Procede con perversità di bocca.
13 he winks with the eyes, touches with the foot, speaks with the finger.	13 Egli ammicca con gli occhi, parla co’ piedi, Accenna con le dita;
14 With a depraved heart he devises evil, and at all times he sows conflict.	14 Egli ha delle perversità nel suo cuore, Egli macchina del male in ogni tempo; Egli commette contese.
15 To this one, his perdition will arrive promptly, and he shall be crushed suddenly: he will no longer have any remedy.	15 Perciò in un momento verrà la sua ruina; Egli di subito sarà fiaccato, senza rimedio.
16 Six things there are that the Lord hates, and the seventh, his soul detests:	16 Il Signore odia queste sei cose; Anzi queste sette son cosa abbominevole all’anima sua;
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,	17 Gli occhi altieri, la lingua bugiarda, E la mani che spandono il sangue innocente,
18 a heart that devises the most wicked thoughts, feet running swiftly unto evil,	18 Il cuore che divisa pensieri d’iniquità, I piedi che si affrettano per correre al male,
19 a deceitful witness bringing forth lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.	19 Il falso testimonio che sbocca menzogne, E colui che commette contese tra fratelli
20 My son, preserve the precepts of your father, and do not dismiss the law of your mother.	20 FIGLIUOL mio, guarda il comandamento di tuo padre, E non lasciar l’insegnamento di tua madre;
21 Bind them to your heart unceasingly, and encircle them around your throat.	21 Tienli del continuo legati in sul tuo cuore, Ed avvinti in su la tua gola.
22 When you walk, let them keep step with you. When you sleep, let them guard you. And when you keep watch, speak with them.	22 Quando tu camminerai, quello ti guiderà; Quando tu giacerai, farà la guardia intorno a te; E quando tu ti risveglierai, ragionerà teco;
23 For commandment is a lamp, and law is a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life.	23 Perciocchè il comandamento è una lampana, E l’insegnamento è una luce, E le correzioni di disciplina son la via della vita;
24 So may they guard you from an evil woman, and from the flattering tongue of the outsider.	24 Per guardarti dalla femmina malvagia, Dalle lusinghe della lingua della straniera.
25 Let not your heart desire her beauty; do not be captivated by her winks.	25 Non invaghirti nel tuo cuore della sua bellezza; E non prendati ella con le sue palpebre.
26 For the price of a prostitute is only one loaf. Yet the woman seizes the precious soul of a man.	26 Perciocchè per una donna meretrice si viene fino ad un pezzo di pane; E la donna vaga d’uomini va a caccia dietro alle anime preziose.
27 Would a man be able to conceal fire in his bosom, so that his garments would not burn?	27 Alcuno prenderà egli del fuoco in seno, Senza che i suoi vestimenti ne sieno arsi?
28 Or could he walk over burning coals, so that his feet would not be burned?	28 Alcuno camminerà egli sopra le brace, Senza bruciarsi i piedi?
29 So also, he who enters to the wife of his neighbor shall not be clean when he touches her.	29 Così avviene a chi entra dalla moglie del suo prossimo; Chiunque la tocca non sarà innocente.
30 Not so great is the fault when someone has stolen. For he steals so as to satisfy a hungry soul.	30 Ei non si scusa il ladro, quando egli ruba Per saziarsi, avendo fame;
31 Also, if he is apprehended, he shall repay sevenfold and hand over all the substance of his house.	31 Anzi, se è colto, restituisce il furto a sette doppi, Egli dà tutta la sostanza di casa sua.
32 But whoever is an adulterer, because of the emptiness of his heart, will destroy his own soul.	32 Chi commette adulterio con una donna è scemo di senno; Chi vuol perder l’anima sua faccia tal cosa.
33 He gathers shame and dishonor to himself, and his disgrace will not be wiped away.	33 Egli troverà ferite ed ignominia; E il suo vituperio non sarà giammai cancellato.
34 For the jealousy and fury of the husband will not spare him on the day of vindication,	34 Perciocchè la gelosia è un furor dell’uomo; Ed egli non risparmierà nel giorno della vendetta.
35 nor will he agree to the pleadings of anyone, nor will he accept, as repayment, a multitude of gifts.	35 Egli non avrà riguardo ad alcun riscatto; Ed avvegnachè tu moltiplichi i presenti, non però li accetterà
