Revelation 13

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Then I saw a beast emerge from the sea: it had seven heads and ten horns, with a coronet on each ofits ten horns, and its heads were marked with blasphemous titles.	1 Y vi surgir del mar una Bestia que tenía diez cuernos y siete cabezas, y en sus cuernos diez diademas, y en sus cabezas títulos blasfemos.
2 I saw that the beast was like a leopard, with paws like a bear and a mouth like a lion; the dragon hadhanded over to it his own power and his throne and his immense authority.	2 La Bestia que vi se parecía a un leopardo, con las patas como de oso, y las fauces como fauces de león: y el Dragón le dio su poder y su trono y gran poderío.
3 I saw that one of its heads seemed to have had a fatal wound but that this deadly injury had healedand the whole world had marvel ed and fol owed the beast.	3 Una de sus cabezas parecía herida de muerte, pero su llaga mortal se le curó; entonces la tierra entera siguió maravillada a la Bestia.
4 They prostrated themselves in front of the dragon because he had given the beast his authority; andthey prostrated themselves in front of the beast, saying, 'Who can compare with the beast? Who can fightagainst it?'	4 Y se postraron ante el Dragón, porque había dado el poderío a la Bestia , y se postraron ante la Bestia diciendo: «¿Quién como la Bestia? ¿Y quién puede luchar contra ella?»
5 The beast was allowed to mouth its boasts and blasphemies and to be active for forty-two months;	5 Le fue dada una boca que profería grandezas y blasfemias, y se le dio poder de actuar durante 42 meses;
6 and it mouthed its blasphemies against God, against his name, his heavenly Tent and al those whoare sheltered there.	6 y ella abrió su boca para blasfemar contra Dios: para blasfemar de su nombre y de su morada y de los que moran en el cielo.
7 It was allowed to make war against the saints and conquer them, and given power over every race,people, language and nation;	7 Se le concedió hacer la guerra a los santos y vencerlos; se le concedió poderío sobre toda raza, pueblo, lengua y nación.
8 and al people of the world wil worship it, that is, everybody whose name has not been written downsince the foundation of the world in the sacrificial Lamb's book of life.	8 Y la adorarán todos los habitantes de la tierra cuyo nombre no está inscrito, desde la creación del mundo, en el libro de la vida del Cordero degollado.
9 Let anyone who can hear, listen:	9 El que tenga oídos, oiga.
10 Those for captivity to captivity; those for death by the sword to death by the sword. This is why thesaints must have perseverance and faith.	10 «El que a la cárcel, a la cárcel ha de ir; el que ha de morir a espada, a espada ha de morir». Aquí se requiere la paciencia y la fe de los santos.
11 Then I saw a second beast, emerging from the ground; it had two horns like a lamb, but made anoise like a dragon.	11 Vi luego otra Bestia que surgía de la tierra y tenía dos cuernos como de cordero, pero hablaba como una serpiente.
12 This second beast exercised al the power of the first beast, on its behalf making the world and al itspeople worship the first beast, whose deadly injury had healed.	12 Ejerce todo el poder de la primera Bestia en servicio de ésta, haciendo que la tierra y sus habitantes adoren a la primera Bestia, cuya herida mortal había sido curada.
13 And it worked great miracles, even to calling down fire from heaven onto the earth while peoplewatched.	13 Realiza grandes señales, hasta hacer bajar ante la gente fuego del cielo a la tierra;
14 Through the miracles which it was al owed to do on behalf of the first beast, it was able to lead astraythe people of the world and persuade them to put up a statue in honour of the beast that had been wounded bythe sword and stil lived.	14 y seduce a los habitantes de la tierra con las señales que le ha sido concedido obrar al servicio de la Bestia, diciendo a los habitantes de la tierra que hagan una imagen en honor de la Bestia que, teniendo la herida de la espada, revivió.
15 It was al owed to breathe life into this statue, so that the statue of the beast was able to speak, and tohave anyone who refused to worship the statue of the beast put to death.	15 Se le concedió infundir el aliento a la imagen de la Bestia, de suerte que pudiera incluso hablar la imagen de la Bestia y hacer que fueran exterminados cuantos no adoraran la imagen de la Bestia.
16 It compel ed everyone -- smal and great alike, rich and poor, slave and citizen -- to be branded onthe right hand or on the forehead,	16 Y hace que todos, pequeños y grandes, ricos y pobres, libres y esclavos, se hagan una marca en la mano derecha o en la frente,
17 and made it il egal for anyone to buy or sell anything unless he had been branded with the name ofthe beast or with the number of its name.	17 y que nadie pueda comprar nada ni vender, sino el que lleve la marca con el nombre de la Bestia o con la cifra de su nombre.
18 There is need for shrewdness here: anyone clever may interpret the number of the beast: it is thenumber of a human being, the number 666.	18 ¡Aquí está la sabiduría! Que el inteligente calcule la cifra de la Bestia; pues es la cifra de un hombre. Su cifra es 666.
