1 John 3

1 You must see what great love the Father has lavished on us by letting us be cal ed God's children --which is what we are! The reason why the world does not acknowledge us is that it did not acknowledge him.	1 Guardate quale attestato di amore ci ha dato il Padre nel farci chiamare ad essere figlioli di Dio. Per questo il mondo non conosce noi; perchè non conosce lui.
2 My dear friends, we are already God's children, but what we shall be in the future has not yet beenrevealed. We are wel aware that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he real yis.	2 Carissimi, ora noi siamo figli di Dio; ma non s'è manifestato ancora quel che saremo. Sappiamo che, quando si manifesterà saremo simili a lui, perchè lo vedremo quale egli è.
3 Whoever treasures this hope of him purifies himself, to be as pure as he is.	3 E chiunque ha questa speranza in lui, si santifica, come anche lui è santo.
4 Whoever sins, acts wickedly, because al sin is wickedness.	4 Chiunque fa peccato commette iniquità, e il peccato è iniquità.
5 Now you are well aware that he has appeared in order to take sins away, and that in him there is no sin.	5 Or sapete che Gesù è apparso per togliere i nostri peccati e che non v'è peccato in lui.
6 No one who remains in him sins, and whoever sins has neither seen him nor recognised him.	6 Chiunque dimora in lui non pecca, e chi pecca non l'ha nè visto, nè conosciuto.
7 Children, do not let anyone lead you astray. Whoever acts uprightly is upright, just as he is upright.	7 Figliolini, nessuno vi seduca: chi pratica la giustizia è giusto, come Cristo è giusto;
8 Whoever lives sinfully belongs to the devil, since the devil has been a sinner from the beginning. Thiswas the purpose of the appearing of the Son of God, to undo the work of the devil.	8 ma chi fa il peccato, egli è dal diavolo perchè il diavolo pecca fin da principio. Il Figlio di Dio è apparso appunto per distruggere le opere del diavolo.
9 No one who is a child of God sins because God's seed remains in him. Nor can he sin, because he is achild of God.	9 Chiunque è nato da Dio non commette il peccato, perchè tiene in sè il germe vitale di Dio, e non può peccare, perchè è nato da Dio.
10 This is what distinguishes the children of God from the children of the devil: whoever does not liveuprightly and does not love his brother is not from God.	10 In questo si distinguono i figlioli di Dio e i figlioli del diavolo: chiunque non pratica la giustizia non è da Dio, così pure chi non ama il proprio fratello.
11 This is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we must love one another,	11 E il messaggio che voi avete sentito fin da principio è questo: che vi amiate l'un l'altro;
12 not to be like Cain, who was from the Evil One and murdered his brother. And why did he murder hisbrother? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's upright.	12 non facendo come Caino, che era dal maligno ed uccise il suo fratello. E perchè lo uccise? Perchè le sue opere eran malvage e quelle del suo fratello eran giuste.
13 Do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.	13 Non vi stupite, fratelli, se il mondo vi odia.
14 We are wel aware that we have passed over from death to life because we love our brothers.Whoever does not love, remains in death.	14 Noi sappiamo d'essere stati trasportati dalla morte alla vita, perchè amiamo i fratelli. Chi non ama resta nella morte.
15 Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you are well aware that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.	15 Chiunque odia il proprio fratello è omicida; e voi sapete che nessuno omicida ha dimorante in se stesso la vita eterna.
16 This is the proof of love, that he laid down his life for us, and we too ought to lay down our lives for ourbrothers.	16 Da questo abbiamo conosciuto la carità di Dio: dall'avere egli data la sua vita per noi; ed anche noi dobbiamo dare la vita per i fratelli.
17 If anyone is wel -off in worldly possessions and sees his brother in need but closes his heart to him,how can the love of God be remaining in him?	17 Se uno avrà dei beni di questo mondo e, vedendo il suo fratello nel bisogno, gli chiuderà il proprio cuore, come potrebbe la carità di Dio abitare in lui?
18 Children, our love must be not just words or mere talk, but something active and genuine.	18 Figliolini miei, non amiamo a parole e colla lingua, ma colle opere e in verità.
19 This will be the proof that we belong to the truth, and it wil convince us in his presence,	19 Da questo conosciamo di essere dalla verità e potremo rassicurare i nostri cuori dinanzi a Dio,
20 even if our own feelings condemn us, that God is greater than our feelings and knows al things.	20 perchè se il nostro cuore ci condanna, Dio è maggiore del nostro cuore e sa tutto;
21 My dear friends, if our own feelings do not condemn us, we can be fearless before God,	21 se poi il nostro cuore non ci condanna, carissimi, possiamo aver fiducia dinanzi a Dio,
22 and whatever we ask we shal receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what isacceptable to him.	22 e riceveremo da lui tutto ciò che domandiamo, perchè osserviamo i suoi comandamenti e facciamo le cose che gli son gradite.
23 His commandment is this, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and that weshould love one another as he commanded us.	23 Or questo è il suo comandamento: che crediamo nel nome del suo Figliolo Gesù Cristo, e ci amiamo l'un l'altro, come egli ci ha comandato.
24 Whoever keeps his commandments remains in God, and God in him. And this is the proof that heremains in us: the Spirit that he has given us.	24 E chi osserva i suoi comandamenti sta in Dio e Dio in lui, e che egli sta in noi lo sappiamo dallo Spirito che Egli ci ha dato.
