1 The first covenant also had its laws governing worship and its sanctuary, a sanctuary on this earth.	1 A primeira aliança teve também regulamentos relativos ao culto e um santuário terrestre.
2 There was a tent which comprised two compartments: the first, in which the lamp-stand, the table andthe loaves of permanent offering were kept, was cal ed the Holy Place;	2 Foi construído um tabernáculo, em cuja parte anterior, chamada o Santo, se encontravam o candeeiro, a mesa e os pães da proposição.
3 then beyond the second veil, a second compartment which was called the Holy of Holies	3 Por detrás do segundo véu estava a parte do tabernáculo chamada o Santo dos Santos,
4 to which belonged the gold altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant, plated al over with gold. Inthis were kept the gold jar containing the manna, Aaron's branch that grew the buds, and the tables of thecovenant.	4 contendo o altar de ouro, para os perfumes, e a arca da aliança, coberta de ouro por todos os lados, na qual havia uma urna de ouro contendo o maná, a vara de Aarão, que tinha florescido, e as tábuas da aliança ;
5 On top of it were the glorious winged creatures, overshadowing the throne of mercy. This is not the timeto go into detail about this.	5 sobre ela estavam os Querubins da glória, que cobriam com a sua sombra o propiciatório. Toda via não é aqui o lugar de falarmos destas coisas, uma por uma.
6 Under these provisions, priests go regularly into the outer tent to carry out their acts of worship,	6 Estando assim tudo disposto, os sacerdotes entram sempre na primeira parte do tabernáculo, para exercer as funções sacerdotais;
7 but the second tent is entered only once a year, and then only by the high priest who takes in the bloodto make an offering for his own and the people's faults of inadvertence.	7 na segunda só entra o pontífice, uma vez no ano, não sem sangue que ofereça pelas suas faltas e pelas do povo,
8 By this, the Holy Spirit means us to see that as long as the old tent stands, the way into the holy placeis not opened up;	8 significando com isto o Espírito Santo que o caminho do santuário não está ainda aberto, enquanto subsiste o primeiro tabernáculo,
9 it is a symbol for this present time. None of the gifts and sacrifices offered under these regulations canpossibly bring any worshipper to perfection in his conscience;	9 que é uma figura do tempo presente, no qual se oferecem dons e sacrifícios, que não podem tornar perfeita a consciência do sacrificante.
10 they are rules about outward life, connected with food and drink and washing at various times, whichare in force only until the time comes to set things right.	10 Tudo isto apenas se refere a alimentos e bebidas, a diversas abluções e determinações carnais, impostas somente até ao tempo da reforma.
11 But now Christ has come, as the high priest of al the blessings which were to come. He has passedthrough the greater, the more perfect tent, not made by human hands, that is, not of this created order;	11 Mas Cristo, vindo como pontífice dos bens futuros, passando pelo meio de um tabernáculo mais excelente e perfeito, não feito por mão de homem, isto é, não desta criação,
12 and he has entered the sanctuary once and for all, taking with him not the blood of goats and bulcalves, but his own blood, having won an eternal redemption.	12 e não com o sangue dos bodes ou dos bezerros, mas com o seu próprio sangue, entrou uma só vez no santuário, conseguindo-nos uma redenção eterna.
13 The blood of goats and bul s and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkled on those who have incurreddefilement, may restore their bodily purity.	13 Com efeito, se o sangue dos bodes e dos touros, e a cinza de uma novilha, aspergindo os impuros, os santificam e lhes dão a pureza da carne,
14 How much more wil the blood of Christ, who offered himself, blameless as he was, to God throughthe eternal Spirit, purify our conscience from dead actions so that we can worship the living God.	14 quanto mais o sangue de Cristo, que pelo Espírito eterno se ofereceu a si mesmo sem mácula a Deus, purificará a nossa consciência das obras de morte para servir a Deus vivo!
15 This makes him the mediator of a new covenant, so that, now that a death has occurred to redeem thesins committed under an earlier covenant, those who have been cal ed to an eternal inheritance may receive thepromise.	15 Por isso ele é mediador do novo testamento, a fim de que, intervindo a sua morte para o perdão daquelas prevaricações que havia sob o antigo, os chamados recebam a herança eterna que lhes foi prometida.
16 Now wherever a wil is in question, the death of the testator must be established;	16 De facto, onde há um testamento, é necessário que intervenha a morte do testador,
17 a testament comes into effect only after a death, since it has no force while the testator is stil alive.	17 porque o testamento só produz seu efeito em caso de morte, não tendo força enquanto vive o testador.
18 That is why even the earlier covenant was inaugurated with blood,	18 Por isso nem mesmo o primeiro testamento foi inaugurado sem sangue.
19 and why, after Moses had promulgated al the commandments of the Law to the people, he took thecalves' blood, the goats' blood and some water, and with these he sprinkled the book itself and all the people,using scarlet wool and hyssop;	19 Efetivamente Moisés, tendo lido a todo o povo todos os preceitos da lei, tomou o sangue dos bezerros e dos bodes, com água, com lã tinta de escarlate e com hissopo aspergiu o mesmo livro (que continha a lei) assim como todo o povo,
20 saying as he did so: This is the blood of the covenant that God has made with you.	20 dizendo: Este é o sangue da aliança que Deus contraiu convosco (Ex. 24, 8).
21 And he sprinkled both the tent and all the liturgical vessels with blood in the same way.	21 Aspergiu igualmente com sangue o tabernáculo e todos os vasos do ministério.
22 In fact, according to the Law, practical y every purification takes place by means of blood; and if thereis no shedding of blood, there is no remission.	22 Quase todas as coisas, segundo a lei, se purificam com sangue : sem efusão de sangue não há remissão.
23 Only the copies of heavenly things are purified in this way; the heavenly things themselves have to bepurified by a higher sort of sacrifice than this.	23 Era, pois, necessário que as figuras das realidades celestiais fossem assim purificadas, mas que as mesmas realidades celestiais o fossem por meio de sacrifícios superiores.
24 It is not as though Christ had entered a man-made sanctuary which was merely a model of the realone; he entered heaven itself, so that he now appears in the presence of God on our behalf.	24 Jesus não entrou num santuário feito por mão de homem, figura do verdadeiro, mas entrou no mesmo céu, para se apresentar agora diante de Deus por nós,
25 And he does not have to offer himself again and again, as the high priest goes into the sanctuary yearafter year with the blood that is not his own,	25 e não entrou para se oferecer muitas vezes a si mesmo, como o pontífice entra, uma vez por ano, no santuário com sangue alheio.
26 or else he would have had to suffer over and over again since the world began. As it is, he has madehis appearance once and for al , at the end of the last age, to do away with sin by sacrificing himself.	26 Doutra maneira ser-lhe-ia necessário padecer muitas vezes desde o princípio do mundo; apareceu, porém, uma só vez, no fim dos séculos, para destruir o pecado com o sacrifício de si mesmo.
27 Since human beings die only once, after which comes judgement,	27 E, assim como está decretado que os homens morram, uma só vez, e que, depois disso, se siga o juízo,
28 so Christ too, having offered himself only once to bear the sin of many, will manifest himself a secondtime, sin being no more, to those who are waiting for him, to bring them salvation.	28 assim também Cristo se ofereceu uma só vez (em sacrifício) para apagar os pecados de muitos; a segunda vez aparecerá, não por causa do pecado, mas para salvação daqueles que o esperam.
