Deuteronomy 14

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 'You are children of Yahweh your God. You must not gash yourselves or shave your foreheads for thedead.	1 Vous êtes des fils pour Yahvé votre Dieu. Vous ne vous ferez pas d'incision ni de tonsure surle front pour un mort.
2 For you are a people consecrated to Yahweh your God, and Yahweh has chosen you to be his ownpeople from al the peoples on the earth.	2 Car tu es un peuple consacré à Yahvé ton Dieu et Yahvé t'a choisi pour être son peuple à luiparmi tous les peuples qui sont sur la terre.
3 'You must not eat anything disgusting.	3 Tu ne mangeras rien de ce qui est abominable.
4 These are the animals you may eat: ox, sheep, goat,	4 Voici les animaux que vous pourrez manger: le boeuf, le mouton, la chèvre,
5 deer, gazel e, roebuck, ibex, antelope, oryx, mountain sheep.	5 le cerf, la gazelle, le daim, le bouquetin, l'antilope, l'oryx, le mouflon.
6 You may eat any animal that has a divided and cloven hoof and that is a ruminant.	6 Vous pourrez manger de tout animal qui a le sabot fourchu, fendu en deux ongles, et quirumine.
7 Of those, however, that are ruminants and of those that have a divided and cloven hoof you may noteat the fol owing: the camel, the hare and the coney, which are ruminants but have no cloven hoof; you mustclass them as unclean.	7 Toutefois, parmi les ruminants et parmi les animaux à sabot fourchu et fendu, vous nepourrez manger ceux-ci: le chameau, le lièvre et le daman, qui ruminent mais n'ont pas le sabot fourchu; vous lestiendrez pour impurs.
8 So also the pig, which though it has a cloven hoof is not a ruminant; you must class it as unclean. Youmust neither eat the meat of such animals nor touch their dead bodies.	8 Ni le porc, qui a bien le sabot fourchu et fendu mais qui ne rumine pas; vous le tiendrez pourimpur. Vous ne mangerez pas de leur chair et ne toucherez pas à leurs cadavres.
9 'Of whatever lives in water you may eat the fol owing: you may eat anything that has fins and scales.	9 Parmi tout ce qui vit dans l'eau, vous pourrez manger ceci: tout ce qui a nageoires et écailles,vous en pourrez manger.
10 But you must not eat anything without fins and scales: you must class it as unclean.	10 Mais vous ne mangerez point de ce qui n'a pas nageoires et écailles: vous le tiendrez pourimpur.
11 'You may eat al clean birds,	11 Vous pourrez manger de tout oiseau pur,
12 but the fol owing birds you must not eat: the tawny vulture, the griffon, the osprey,	12 mais voici ceux des oiseaux dont vous ne pourrez manger: le vautour-griffon, le gypaète,l'orfraie,
13 the kite and the several kinds of buzzard,	13 le milan noir, les différentes espèces de milan rouge,
14 al kinds of raven,	14 toutes les espèces de corbeau,
15 the ostrich, the screech owl, the seagul , the several kinds of hawk,	15 l'autruche, le chat-huant, la mouette et les différentes espèces d'épervier,
16 owl, barn owl, ibis,	16 le hibou, la chouette, l'ibis,
17 pelican, white vulture, cormorant,	17 le pélican, le vautour blanc, le cormoran,
18 stork, the several kinds of heron, hoopoe and bat.	18 la cigogne et les différentes espèces de héron, la huppe, la chauve-souris.
19 You are to class al winged insects as unclean and must not eat them.	19 Vous tiendrez toutes les bestioles ailées pour impures, vous n'en mangerez pas.
20 You may eat any clean fowl.	20 Vous pourrez manger de tout volatile pur.
21 'You must not eat any animal that has died a natural death. You may give it to a resident foreigner toeat, or sel it to a foreigner. For you are a people consecrated to Yahweh your God. 'You must not boil a kid in itsmother's milk.	21 Vous ne pourrez manger aucune bête crevée. Tu la donneras à l'étranger qui réside chez toipour qu'il la mange, ou bien vends-la à un étranger du dehors. Tu es en effet un peuple consacré à Yahvé tonDieu. Tu ne feras pas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.
22 'Every year, you must take a tithe of what your fields produce from what you have sown	22 Chaque année, tu devras prendre la dîme de tout ce que tes semailles auront rapporté danstes champs
23 and, in the presence of Yahweh your God, in the place where he chooses to give his name a home,you must eat the tithe of your wheat, of your new wine and of your oil, and the first-born of your herd and flock;and by so doing, you wil learn always to fear Yahweh your God.	23 et, en présence de Yahvé ton Dieu, au lieu qu'il aura choisi pour y faire habiter son nom, tumangeras la dîme de ton froment, de ton vin nouveau et de ton huile, les premiers-nés de ton gros et de ton petitbétail; ainsi tu apprendras à toujours craindre Yahvé ton Dieu.
24 'If the road is too long for you, if you cannot bring your tithe because the place in which Yahwehchooses to make a home for his name is too far away, when Yahweh your God has blessed you,	24 Si le chemin est trop long pour toi, si tu ne peux pas apporter la dîme parce que le lieuchoisi par Yahvé pour y faire habiter son nom est trop loin de chez toi, quand Yahvé ton Dieu t'aura béni
25 you must convert it into money and, with the money clasped in your hand, you must go to the placechosen by Yahweh your God;	25 tu la convertiras en argent, tu serreras l'argent dans ta main et tu iras au lieu choisi parYahvé ton Dieu;
26 there you may spend the money on whatever you like, oxen, sheep, wine, fermented liquor, anythingyou please. There you must eat in the presence of Yahweh your God and rejoice, you and your household.	26 là tu échangeras cet argent contre tout ce que tu désireras, gros ou petit bétail, vin ouboisson fermentée, tout ce dont tu auras envie. Tu mangeras là en présence de Yahvé ton Dieu et tu te réjouiras,toi et ta maison.
27 Do not neglect the Levite living in your community, since he has no share or heritage of his ownamong you.	27 Tu ne négligeras pas le lévite qui est dans tes portes, puisqu'il n'a ni part ni héritage avectoi.
28 'At the end of every three years, you must take al the tithes of your harvests for that year and col ectthem in your community.	28 Au bout de trois ans, tu prélèveras toutes les dîmes de tes récoltes de cette année-là et tu lesdéposeras à tes portes.
29 Then the Levite -- since he has no share or heritage of his own among you -- the foreigner, theorphan and the widow living in your community, wil come and eat all they want. And so Yahweh your God wilbless you in al the labours that you undertake.'	29 Viendront alors manger le lévite (puisqu'il n'a ni part ni héritage avec toi), l'étranger,l'orphelin et la veuve de ta ville, et ils s'en rassasieront. Ainsi Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira dans tous les travaux quetes mains pourront entreprendre.
