Jeremiah 43

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 When Jeremiah had finished tel ing all the people al the words of Yahweh their God, which Yahwehtheir God had sent him to tel them -- al the words quoted above-	1 Ahora bien, así que hubo acabado Jeremías de transmitir a todo el pueblo el recado de Yahveh su Dios, que Yahveh le había dado para ellos,
2 Azariah son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and all those arrogant men, said to Jeremiah,'You are lying. Yahweh our God did not send you to say, "Do not go to Egypt and settle there."	2 dijo Azarías, hijo de Hosaías, y también Yojanán, hijo de Caréaj, y todos los hombres insolentes se pusieron a decir a Jeremías: «Estás mintiendo. No te ha encargado nuestro Dios Yahveh decir: “No vayáis a Egipto como refugiados allí”».
3 It was Baruch son of Neriah, who keeps inciting you against us, to hand us over to the Chaldaeans sothat they can put us to death or deport us to Babylon.'	3 Sino que Baruc, hijo de Neriyías, te azuza contra nosotros con objeto de ponernos en manos de los caldeos para que nos hagan morir y nos deporten a Babilonia.
4 So neither Johanan nor any of the military leaders nor any of the people obeyed the voice of Yahwehby staying in the country of Judah.	4 Además, ni Yojanán, hijo de Caréaj, ni ninguno de los jefes de las tropas, ni nadie del pueblo escuchó la voz de Yahveh que mandaba quedarse en tierra de Judá;
5 Instead, Johanan son of Kareah and al the military leaders led off the entire remnant of Judah, thosewho had come back from all the nations where they had been driven to live in the country of Judah:	5 antes bien, Yojanán, hijo de Caréaj, y todos los jefes de las tropas tomaron consigo a todo el resto de Judá, los que habían regresado, para habitar en tierra de Judá, de todas las naciones adonde habían sido rechazados:
6 men, women, children, the royal princesses too, and every single person that Nebuzaradancommander of the guard had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, including the prophet Jeremiahand Baruch son of Neriah.	6 a hombres, mujeres, niños, a las hijas del rey y a toda persona que Nebuzaradán, jefe de la guardia, había dejado en paz con Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, hijo de Safán, y también al profeta Jeremías y a Baruc, hijo de Neriyías,
7 And so, in disobedience to the voice of Yahweh, they reached Egypt and arrived at Tahpanhes.	7 y entrando en la tierra de Egipto, - pues desoyeron la voz de Yahveh -, se adentraron hasta Tafnis.
8 At Tahpanhes the word of Yahweh was addressed to Jeremiah as fol ows,	8 Entonces fue dirigida la palabra de Yahveh a Jeremías en Tafnis como sigue:
9 'Take some large stones and bury them in the cement on the terrace outside the entrance of Pharaoh'spalace in Tahpanhes, where the Judaeans can see you.	9 Toma en tus manos piedras grandes, y las hundes en el cemento de la terraza que hay a la entrada del palacio de Faraón en Tafnis, a vista de los judíos,
10 Then say to them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Look, I shal send for my servantNebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and he wil place his throne on these stones I have buried, and spread hiscanopy above them.	10 y les dices: Así dice Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo mando en busca de mi siervo Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y pondrá su sede por encima de estas piedras que he enterrado, y desplegaré su pabellón sobre ellas.
11 When he comes, he wil defeat Egypt: Those for the plague, to the plague; those for captivity, tocaptivity; those for the sword, to the sword!	11 Vendrá y herirá a Egipto, quien sea para la muerte, a la muerte; quien para el cautiverio, al cautiverio; quien para la espada, a la espada;
12 "He wil set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt; he wil burn these gods or take them prisoner; likea shepherd wrapping his cloak round him, so he will wrap Egypt round him, and then leave without anyonelaying hands on him.	12 y prenderá fuego a los templos de los dioses de Egipto, los incendiará, y a los dioses les hará cautivos. Despiojará a Egipto como despioja un pastor su zalea, y saldrá de allí victorioso.
13 He wil break the obelisks of the temple of the Sun in Egypt, and burn down the temples of the gods ofEgypt." '	13 Romperá los cipos de Bet Semes que hay en Egipto, y los templos de los dioses egipcios abrasará.
