Jeremiah 43

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 When Jeremiah had finished tel ing all the people al the words of Yahweh their God, which Yahwehtheir God had sent him to tel them -- al the words quoted above-	1 Jérémie avait achevé de dire au peuple toutes les paroles de Yahvé leur Dieu, toutes ces paroles pour lesquelles Yahvé leur Dieu l’avait envoyé.
2 Azariah son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and all those arrogant men, said to Jeremiah,'You are lying. Yahweh our God did not send you to say, "Do not go to Egypt and settle there."	2 Alors Azarias fils de Hochayas, Yohanan fils de Karéa et tous les prétentieux qui étaient avec eux, dirent à Jérémie: “C’est faux ce que tu nous dis, Yahvé notre Dieu ne t’a pas envoyé pour nous dire: N’entrez pas en Égypte pour vous y installer.
3 It was Baruch son of Neriah, who keeps inciting you against us, to hand us over to the Chaldaeans sothat they can put us to death or deport us to Babylon.'	3 C’est Baruch fils de Nériya, qui t’excite contre nous: nous allons être livrés aux mains des Kaldéens, et ce sera pour nous la mort et la déportation à Babylone.”
4 So neither Johanan nor any of the military leaders nor any of the people obeyed the voice of Yahwehby staying in the country of Judah.	4 C’est ainsi que Yohanan fils de Karéa, tous les chefs de l’armée et le peuple, refusèrent d’écouter la voix de Yahvé et de rester dans le pays de Juda.
5 Instead, Johanan son of Kareah and al the military leaders led off the entire remnant of Judah, thosewho had come back from all the nations where they had been driven to live in the country of Judah:	5 Yohanan fils de Karéa et tous les chefs de l’armée, prirent donc ce qui restait de Juda, ceux qui étaient revenus de toutes les nations où ils avaient été dispersés, pour s’installer dans le pays de Juda.
6 men, women, children, the royal princesses too, and every single person that Nebuzaradancommander of the guard had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, including the prophet Jeremiahand Baruch son of Neriah.	6 Il y avait là des hommes et des femmes, des petits enfants, les filles du roi, et tous ceux que Nébouzaradan, chef des gardes, avait laissés autour de Godolias fils d’Ahikam, fils de Chafan, avec le prophète Jérémie et Baruch fils de Nériya.
7 And so, in disobedience to the voice of Yahweh, they reached Egypt and arrived at Tahpanhes.	7 Au lieu d’écouter la voix de Yahvé, ils partirent pour l’Égypte et s’installèrent à Tahpanhès.
8 At Tahpanhes the word of Yahweh was addressed to Jeremiah as fol ows,	8 Une parole de Yahvé fut adressée à Jérémie à Tahpanhès:
9 'Take some large stones and bury them in the cement on the terrace outside the entrance of Pharaoh'spalace in Tahpanhes, where the Judaeans can see you.	9 “Prends dans tes mains de grandes pierres; sous les yeux des Judéens, tu les enterreras dans le mortier, dans la fabrique de briques qui est à l’entrée du palais du Pharaon à Tahpanhès;
10 Then say to them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Look, I shal send for my servantNebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and he wil place his throne on these stones I have buried, and spread hiscanopy above them.	10 puis tu leur diras: Sachez que je vais envoyer chercher mon serviteur Nabukodonozor, roi de Babylone. Il placera son trône sur ces pierres que j’ai enterrées, et il y dressera son baldaquin.
11 When he comes, he wil defeat Egypt: Those for the plague, to the plague; those for captivity, tocaptivity; those for the sword, to the sword!	11 Il viendra et frappera l’Égypte: celui qui est pour la mort, mourra, celui qui est pour la captivité, ira à l’exil.
12 "He wil set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt; he wil burn these gods or take them prisoner; likea shepherd wrapping his cloak round him, so he will wrap Egypt round him, and then leave without anyonelaying hands on him.	12 “Il mettra le feu aux temples des dieux égyptiens, il les brûlera et les emmènera prisonniers; il s’enveloppera de l’Égypte, comme le berger s’enveloppe de son manteau et il s’en ira tranquillement.
13 He wil break the obelisks of the temple of the Sun in Egypt, and burn down the temples of the gods ofEgypt." '	13 Il brisera les obélisques du temple du soleil et livrera au feu les temples des dieux d’Égypte.”
