Jeremiah 28

1 That same year, at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fifth month of the fourthyear, the prophet Hananiah son of Azzur, a Gibeonite, spoke as follows to Jeremiah in the Temple of Yahweh inthe presence of the priests and of al the people,	1 On était dans cette même année, au cinquième mois de la quatrième année, et c’était le début du règne de Sédécias, roi de Juda. Le prophète Hananyas fils d’Azour, qui était de Gabaon, s’adressa à Jérémie dans la Maison de Yahvé, devant les prêtres et le peuple:
2 'Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this, "I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.	2 “Voici ce que dit Yahvé Sabaot, le Dieu d’Israël: J’ai brisé le joug du roi de Babylone.
3 In exactly two years' time I shal bring back al the vessels of the Temple of Yahweh whichNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from here and carried off to Babylon.	3 Encore deux ans et je ferai revenir en ce lieu tous les objets de la Maison de Yahvé
4 And I shal also bring back Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah and al the exiles of Judah whohave gone to Babylon, Yahweh declares, for I shal break the yoke of the king of Babylon." '	4 ( ) ainsi que tous les déportés de Juda; car je vais briser le joug du roi de Babylone.”
5 The prophet Jeremiah then replied to the prophet Hananiah in front of the priests and al the peoplepresent in the Temple of Yahweh.	5 Alors le prophète Jérémie répondit au prophète Hananyas devant les prêtres et devant tous ceux qui se trouvaient dans la Maison de Yahvé.
6 'So be it!' the prophet Jeremiah said, 'May Yahweh do so! May he fulfil the words that you haveprophesied and bring al the vessels of the Temple of Yahweh and al the exiles back to this place from Babylon.	6 Le prophète Jérémie dit: “Que Yahvé t’écoute et fasse ainsi, qu’il accomplisse ce que tu viens d’annoncer, et qu’il fasse revenir de Babylone tous les objets de la Maison de Yahvé et tous les exilés.
7 Listen carefully, however, to this word that I am now going to say for you and al the people to hear:	7 “Cependant, écoute bien les paroles que j’ai dites et que tu as entendues, comme tout ce peuple.
8 From remote times, the prophets who preceded you and me prophesied war, disaster and plague formany countries and for great kingdoms;	8 Car depuis longtemps, les prophètes qui sont venus avant moi et toi ont annoncé pour beaucoup de pays et pour de très grands rois la guerre, le malheur et la peste.
9 the prophet who prophesies peace can be recognised as one truly sent by Yahweh only when his wordcomes true.'	9 Si un prophète annonce la paix, il faudra que sa parole se réalise pour qu’on sache que vraiment Yahvé l’a envoyé.”
10 The prophet Hananiah then snatched the yoke off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah and broke it.	10 Alors le prophète Hananyas prit le joug que le prophète Jérémie portait sur son cou et le brisa.
11 In front of al the people Hananiah then said, 'Yahweh says this, "This is how, in exactly two years'time, I shall break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and take it off the necks of al the nations." ' Atthis, the prophet Jeremiah went away.	11 Et devant tout le peuple Hananyas dit: “Voici la parole de Yahvé: Dans deux ans tout juste je briserai de la même façon le joug du roi de Babylone, et je l’ôterai de sur le cou de toutes les nations.” Et le prophète Jérémie s’en alla.
12 After the prophet Hananiah had broken the yoke he had snatched off the prophet Jeremiah's neck,the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah,	12 Mais après cette affaire où le prophète Hananyas avait brisé le joug que le prophète Jérémie portait sur son cou, une parole de Yahvé fut adressée à Jérémie:
13 'Go to Hananiah and tell him this, "Yahweh says this: You have broken the wooden yokes only tomake iron yokes to replace them!	13 “Va dire à Hananyas cette parole de Yahvé: Tu as brisé le joug de bois? Remplace-le donc par un joug de fer.
14 For Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: An iron yoke is what I now lay on the necks of althese nations to enslave them to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. (They wil be enslaved to him; I have evengiven him the wild animals.)" '	14 En effet, voici ce que dit Yahvé Sabaot, le Dieu d’Israël: Je mets un joug de fer sur le cou de toutes ces nations.”
15 The prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah, 'Listen careful y, Hananiah: Yahweh has not sentyou; and thanks to you this people is now relying on what is false.	15 Ensuite le prophète Jérémie dit au prophète Hananyas: “Écoute bien, Hananyas: Yahvé ne t’a pas envoyé pour encourager ce peuple à s’appuyer sur des illusions.
16 And so, Yahweh says this, "I am going to send you off the face of the earth: you wil die this year(since you have preached rebel ion against Yahweh)." '	16 C’est pourquoi, voici ce que dit Yahvé: Je te rejette de la face de la terre; cette année-même tu mourras, car tu as prêché la révolte contre Yahvé.”
17 The prophet Hananiah died the same year, in the seventh month.	17 Au septième mois de cette année, le prophète Hananyas mourut.
