Isaiah 24

1 See how Yahweh lays the earth waste, makes it a desert, buckles its surface, scatters its inhabitants,	1 Ecco, che il Signore desolerà, e spoglierà la terra, e afflitta renderà la faccia di lei, e dispergerà i suoi abitatori.
2 priest and people alike, master and slave, mistress and maid, seller and buyer, lender and borrower,creditor and debtor.	2 E sarà come il popolo, così il sacerdote; e come lo schiavo, così il padrone; come la serva, così la padrona; come chi compra, così chi vende, come chi dà in prestito, così chi prende; come il creditore, così il debitore.
3 Ravaged, ravaged the earth wil be, despoiled, despoiled, for Yahweh has uttered this word.	3 Disertata totalmente sarà la terra, e totalmente sarà devastata. Imperocché il Signore ha pronunziata questa parola.
4 The earth is mourning, pining away, the pick of earth's people are withering away.	4 La terra è in lagrime, e si consuma, e vien meno: si consuma il mondo, si consumano gli eccelsi del popolo della terra.
5 The earth is defiled by the feet of its inhabitants, for they have transgressed the laws, violated thedecree, broken the everlasting covenant.	5 La terra è infettata da suoi abitatori; perchè questi han trasgredite le leggi, han cambiato il diritto; hanno sciolta l'alleanza sempiterna.
6 That is why the curse has consumed the earth and its inhabitants pay the penalty, that is why theinhabitants of the earth have been burnt up and few people are left.	6 Per questo la maledizione divorerà la terra, perchè i suoi abitanti son peccatori, e per questo daranno in pazzie que', che in essa dimorano, e scarso numero d'uomini resterà.
7 The new wine is mourning, the vine is withering away, the once merry-hearted are sighing.	7 La vendemmia è in lutto, la vite ha perduto il vigore: sono in pianto quegli, che erano allegri di cuore.
8 The cheerful sound of tambourines is silent, the sound of revel ing is over, the cheerful sound of theharp is silent.	8 E finito il festoso suono de' timpani, cessò il romoreggiare delle allegre combriccole, la dolce cetra è in silenzio.
9 No more wil they sing over their wine, liquor wil taste bitter to the drinker.	9 Non più beranno vino cantando: ogni bevanda sarà amara pei bevitori.
10 The city of nothingness is in ruins, every house is shut, no one can enter.	10 La città della vanità si va distruggendo, tutte le case son chiuse, né alcuno più vi entra.
11 People shout in the streets to try to get wine; al joy has vanished, happiness has been banished fromthe country.	11 Saran grida nelle contrade per la penuria del vino: ogni solazzo è sbandito: se n'è ita l'allegrezza della terra.
12 Nothing but rubble in the city, the gate has col apsed in ruins.	12 In città e rimasa la solitudine, e le porte saranno in desolazione.
13 For at the heart of earth's life, among the peoples, it is as at the beating of the olive trees, as at thegleaning of the grapes when the grape harvest is over.	13 Perocché così avverrà nel mezzo della terra, nel centro de' popoli: come se si scuotano poche olive rimaste sull'albero, e si tolgano i gracimoli finita che sia la vendemmia.
14 They raise their voices, shouting for joy, in Yahweh's honour they shout from the west.	14 Questi alzeran la lor voce, e intuoneran delle laude: daranno festosi gridi dal mare, allorché sarà stato glorificato il Signore.
15 'Yes, in the east, give glory to Yahweh, in the islands of the sea, to the name of Yahweh, God ofIsrael!'	15 Per questo colla dottrina glorificate il Signore, il nome del Signore Dio d'Israele nelle isole del mare.
16 We have heard psalms from the remotest parts of earth, 'Glory to the Upright One!' But I thought,'What an ordeal, what an ordeal! What misery for me!' The traitors have betrayed, the traitors have acted mosttreacherously.	16 Dalle estremità della terra abbiamo udito cantarsi laude a gloria del giusto. Ed io dissi: Il mio segreto è per me: il mio segreto è per me: povero me! i prevaricatori hanno prevaricato, ed hanno prevaricato con prevaricazione da protervi.
17 Fear, the pit and the snare for you, inhabitants of the city!	17 La scacciata, e la fossa, e il laccio sono per te, che sei abitator della terra.
18 And whoever flees from the cry of fear wil fal into the pit, and whoever climbs out of the pit will becaught in the snare. Yes, the sluice-gates above are open, the foundations of the earth are quaking.	18 E chi dalla scacciata si salverà, cadrà nella fossa, e chi si salverà dalla fossa, sarà preso al laccio; perocché si apriranno dall'alto le cataratte, e le fondamenta della terra saranno scosse.
19 A cracking, the earth cracks open, a jolting, the earth gives a jolt, a lurching, the earth lurchesbackwards and forwards.	19 Sarà spezzata con gran fracasso la terra; si spaccherà con crepature grandi la terra; sarà scommossa con isconvolgimento grande la terra,
20 The earth wil reel to and fro like a drunkard, it will be shaken like a shanty; so heavy wil be its sin onit, it wil fal , never to rise again.	20 Sarà in agitazione la terra come un ubbriaco; e muterà sito come un padiglione, che sta fermo una notte: sarà a lei grave peso la sua iniquità, ed ella cadrà, né potrà più rialzarsi.
21 When that day comes, Yahweh wil punish the armies of the sky above and on earth the kings of theearth;	21 E in quel giorno visiterà il Signore la milizia del cielo nell'alto: e re della terra, i quali sono sopra la terra.
22 they wil be herded together, herded together like prisoners in a dungeon and shut up in gaol, and,after long years, punished.	22 E saran riuniti tutti in un fascio nella fossa, e ivi saran chiusi in prigione; ed anche dopo molti giorni saranno visitati.
23 The moon will be confused and the sun ashamed, for Yahweh Sabaoth is king on Mount Zion and inJerusalem, and the Glory will radiate on their elders.	23 E la luna arrossirà, e il sole si oscurerà, allorché il Signore Dio degli eserciti sarà entrato al possesso del regno nel monte di Sion, e in Gerusalemme, e sarà glorificato nel cospetto de' suoi seniori.
