Proverbs 2

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 My child, if you take my words to heart, if you set store by my commandments,	1 Figliuolo mio, se tu accettarai i miei parlari, e i miei precetti asconderai appresso a te,
2 tuning your ear to wisdom, tuning your heart to understanding,	2 [acciò] che le tue orecchie audano la sapienza; inclina il cor tno a cognoscer la prudenza.
3 yes, if your plea is for clear perception, if you cry out for understanding,	3 Se tu invocherai la sapienza, e chinerai il cor tuo alla prudenza;
4 if you look for it as though for silver, search for it as though for buried treasure,	4 se tu la cercherai, come si cerca la pecunia, e caverai quella, come si cavano i tesori;
5 then you wil understand what the fear of Yahweh is, and discover the knowledge of God.	5 allora intenderai lo timore del Signore, e la scienza di Dio troverai.
6 For Yahweh himself is giver of wisdom, from his mouth issue knowledge and understanding.	6 Per che il Signore dà la sapienza; e dalla bocca sua procede la scienza e prudenza.
7 He reserves his advice for the honest, a shield to those whose ways are sound;	7 Custodirà la salute degli uomini retti, e defenderà quelli vivono con simplicitade,
8 he stands guard over the paths of equity, he keeps watch over the way of those faithful to him.	8 quello il quale serva le vie della giustizia e le vie de' santi.
9 Then you wil understand uprightness, equity and fair dealing, the paths that lead to happiness.	9 Allora intenderai la giustizia, il giudicio, e la equitade e ogni buona via.
10 When wisdom comes into your heart and knowledge fil s your soul with delight,	10 Se la sapienza intrarà nel cuor tuo, e se la scienza piacerà all' anima tua,
11 then prudence wil be there to watch over you, and understanding wil be your guardian	11 il consiglio ti custodirà, la prudenza ti salverà,
12 to keep you from the way that is evil, from those whose speech is deceitful,	12 per tal modo che tu sarai liberato dalla mala via, e dagli uomini adulatori e detrattori;
13 from those who leave the paths of honesty to walk the roads of darkness:	13 i quali abbandonano la via retta, e vanno per le vie tenebrose;
14 those who find their joy in doing wrong, and their delight in deceitfulness,	14 i quali si rallegrano quando hanno fatto male, e fanno festa nelle pessime operazioni;
15 whose tracks are twisted, and the paths that they tread crooked.	15 de' quali le vie sono perverse, e la vita loro infame.
16 To keep you, too, from the woman who belongs to another, from the stranger, with her wheedlingwords;	16 Acciò che tu sia liberato della femina strana, e mogliere d'altrui, la qual persuade con dolci parole,
17 she has left the partner of her younger days, she has forgotten the covenant of her God;	17 e abbandona quello che la guberna (cioè il marito suo),
18 her house is tilting towards Death, down to the Shades go her paths.	18 ed èssi dimenticata del comandamento di Dio; la casa sua è inclinata alla morte, e le vie sue allo inferno.
19 Of those who go to her not one returns, they never regain the paths of life.	19 Tutti quelli intrano a quella, non torneranno, nè si accosteranno alle vie della vita.
20 Thus you wil tread the way of good people, persisting in the paths of the upright.	20 Acciò che tu vadi per la buona via; e sèguiti le operazioni degli uomini giusti.
21 For the land will be for the honest to live in, the innocent will have it for their home;	21 Per che quelli, che sono retti, abiteranno nella terra, e gli simplici rimarranno in essa.
22 while the wicked wil be cut off from the land, and the faithless rooted out of it.	22 Ma gli empii si perderanno della terra; e quelli iniquamente òperano, si torranno. da quella.
