Genesis 12

NEW JERUSALEM	Pattloch Bibel
1 Yahweh said to Abram, 'Leave your country, your kindred and your father's house for a country whichI shal show you;	1 Der Herr sprach zu Abram: "Zieh hinweg aus deiner Heimat, aus deiner Verwandtschaft und aus deinem Vaterhause in ein Land, das ich dir zeigen werde!
2 and I shal make you a great nation, I shal bless you and make your name famous; you are to be ablessing!	2 Ich will dich zu einem großen Volke machen und dich segnen und deinen Ruhm erhöhen; sei du ein Segen!
3 I shal bless those who bless you, and shal curse those who curse you, and al clans on earth willbless themselves by you.'	3 Segnen will ich, die dich segnen, und wer dich verflucht, dem will auch ich fluchen. In dir sollen alle Geschlechter der Erde gesegnet sein!"
4 So Abram went as Yahweh told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old whenhe left Haran.	4 Abram brach auf, wie der Herr ihm geboten hatte, und Lot zog mit ihm. Abram stand damals im Alter von 75 Jahren, als er von Charan auszog.
5 Abram took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had amassed and the people theyhad acquired in Haran. They set off for the land of Canaan, and arrived there.	5 Abram nahm seine Frau Saraj und seinen Neffen Lot, ferner allen Herdenbesitz, den sie erworben hatten, und alle Leute, die sie in Charan gewonnen hatten. Sie brachen auf, um ins Land Kanaan zu ziehen; und sie kamen ins Land Kanaan.
6 Abram passed through the country as far as the holy place at Shechem, the Oak of Moreh. TheCanaanites were in the country at the time.	6 Abram durchzog das Land bis zum Ort Sichem zur Orakeleiche. Damals waren die Kanaaniter im Lande.
7 Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, 'I shal give this country to your progeny.' And there, Abrambuilt an altar to Yahweh who had appeared to him.	7 Der Herr erschien dem Abram und sprach: "Deinen Nachkommen will ich dieses Land geben." Jener baute dort einen Altar für den Herrn, der ihm erschienen war.
8 From there he moved on to the mountainous district east of Bethel, where he pitched his tent, withBethel to the west and Ai to the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and invoked the name of Yahweh.	8 Von da rückte er weiter dem Gebirge zu, östlich von Betel. Hier schlug er sein Zelt auf, Betel im Westen, Aj im Osten. Sodann baute er dem Herrn einen Altar und rief den Namen des Herrn an.
9 Then Abram made his way stage by stage to the Negeb.	9 Abram zog immer weiter und weiter dem Südland zu.
10 There was a famine in the country, and Abram went down to Egypt to stay there for a time, since thefamine in the country was severe.	10 Eine Hungersnot brach aber damals im Lande aus; daher zog Abram nach Ägypten, um dort seinen Aufenthalt zu nehmen; denn der Hunger lastete schwer auf dem Lande.
11 When he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, 'Look, I know you are a beautifulwoman.	11 Es begab sich, kurz bevor er Ägypten betrat, daß Abram zu seiner Frau Saraj sprach: "Ich weiß, daß du eine schön aussehende Frau bist.
12 When the Egyptians see you they wil say, "That is his wife," and they wil kil me but leave you alive.	12 Wenn dich die Ägypter nun sehen und dabei denken: "Sie ist seine Frau", dann werden sie mich töten und dich am Leben lassen.
13 Therefore please tell them you are my sister, so that they may treat me wel because of you andspare my life out of regard for you.'	13 Gib doch an, daß du meine Schwester seist, damit es mir gut gehe um deinetwillen und ich am Leben bleibe deinetwegen!"
14 When Abram arrived in Egypt the Egyptians did indeed see that the woman was very beautiful.	14 Als Abram nun nach Ägypten kam, sahen die Ägypter, wie überaus schön die Frau war.
15 When Pharaoh's officials saw her they sang her praises to Pharaoh and the woman was taken intoPharaoh's household.	15 Die Würdenträger Pharaos erblickten sie. Preisend empfahlen sie diese für den Pharao. So ward die Frau in den Palast des Pharao gebracht.
16 And Abram was very well treated because of her and received flocks, oxen, donkeys, men andwomen slaves, she-donkeys and camels.	16 Dem Abram aber erwies er Gutes um ihretwillen; er bekam Kleinvieh und Großvieh, Esel, Knechte, Mägde, Eselinnen und Kamele.
17 But Yahweh inflicted severe plagues on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram's wife Sarai.	17 Der Herr aber schlug den Pharao mit schweren Plagen und auch seinen ganzen Hof wegen Sarajs, der Frau des Abram.
18 So Pharaoh summoned Abram and said, 'What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell meshe was your wife?	18 Der Pharao ließ nun Abram rufen und sprach: "Was hast du mir da angetan? Warum hast du mir nicht mitgeteilt, daß sie deine Frau ist?
19 Why did you say, "She is my sister," so that I took her to be my wife? Now, here is your wife. Takeher and go!'	19 Warum hast du gesagt, sie sei deine Schwester? So nahm ich sie mir zur Frau. Nun, hier hast du deine Frau; nimm sie und geh!"
20 And Pharaoh gave his people orders about him; they sent him on his way with his wife and al hispossessions.	20 Und der Pharao entbot für ihn Leute; diese entließen ihn, seine Frau und all seine Habe.
