| 1 Allora andarono le figliuole di Salphaad (figliuolo di Hepher figliuolo di Galaad figliuolodi Machir figliuolo di Manasse, il quale fu figliuolo di Giuseppe): i nomi delle quali eranoMaala, e Noa, ed Hegla, e Melcha, e Thersa: | 1 Then drew near the daughters of Zelophehad the son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, from the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph. The names of his daughters were: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. |
| 2 E si presentarono a Mosè, e ad Eleazaro sommo sacerdote, e a tutti i principi del popolodinanzi alla porta del tabernacolo dell'alleanza, e dissero: | 2 And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the leaders and all the congregation, at the door of the tent of meeting, saying, |
| 3 Il padre nostro si morì nel deserto, e non ebbe parte alla sedizione mossa contro ilSignore, di cui il caporione fu Core; ma si morì nel suo peccato: egli non ebbe figliuolimaschi. Per qual ragione il suo nome è tolto alla sua famiglia, non avendo egli avuto unfigliuolo? Dateci una porzione tra i parenti di nostro padre. | 3 "Our father died in the wilderness; he was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah, but died for his own sin; and he had no sons. |
| 4 E Mosè rimise la loro causa al giudizio del Signore, | 4 Why should the name of our father be taken away from his family, because he had no son? Give to us a possession among our father's brethren." |
| 5 Il quale gli disse: | 5 Moses brought their case before the LORD. |
| 6 Le figliuole di Salphaad chiedono una cosa giusta: da' loro una porzione tra' parenti delpadre loro, e succedano nella eredità di lui. | 6 And the LORD said to Moses, |
| 7 E a' figliuoli d'Israele dirai: | 7 "The daughters of Zelophehad are right; you shall give them possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren and cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them. |
| 8 Se un uomo muore senza aver figliuoli, l'eredità passerà alle figliuole: | 8 And you shall say to the people of Israel, 'If a man dies, and has no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter. |
| 9 Se non avrà nissuna figliuola, i suoi fratelli saranno suoi eredi: | 9 And if he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers. |
| 10 E se non avrà nemmen fratelli, darete l'eredità a' fratelli del padre di lui: | 10 And if he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father's brothers. |
| 11 E se neppur avrà delli zii paterni, sarà data l'eredità a' più prossimi, che egli abbia: esarà questa una legge perpetua pe' figliuoli d'Israele, come ha ordinato il Signore a Mosè. | 11 And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it. And it shall be to the people of Israel a statute and ordinance, as the LORD commanded Moses.'" |
| 12 Disse ancora il Signore a Mosè: Sali su questo monte Abarim, e di là contempla la terra, cheio darò a' figliuoli d'Israele: | 12 The LORD said to Moses, "Go up into this mountain of Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the people of Israel. |
| 13 E quando l'avrai veduta, andrai anche tu a trovare il tuo popolo, come andò Aronne tuofratello: | 13 And when you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was gathered, |
| 14 Perché voi mi disgustaste nel deserto di Sin nella contraddizione della moltitudine, e nonvoleste glorificarmi dinanzi a lei per mezzo delle acque: queste son le acque dicontraddizione presso Cades nel deserto di Sin. | 14 because you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin during the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the waters before their eyes." (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.) |
| 15 Mosè gli rispose: | 15 Moses said to the LORD, |
| 16 Il Signore Dio degli spiriti di tutti gli uomini provveda a questo popolo un capo, | 16 "Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation, |
| 17 Il quale abbia virtù per andare e stare al loro governo, e per guidarli fuori, e perricondurgli: affinché non sia il popolo del Signore come un branco di pecore senza pastore. | 17 who shall go out before them and come in before them, who shall lead them out and bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD may not be as sheep which have no shepherd." |
| 18 E il Signore disse a lui: Prendi Giosuè figliuolo di Nun, nel quale sta il (mio) spirito, eponi sopra di lui la tua mano, | 18 And the LORD said to Moses, "Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay your hand upon him; |
| 19 Alla presenza di Eleazaro sommo sacerdote, e di tutta la moltitudine: | 19 cause him to stand before Eleazar the priest and all the congregation, and you shall commission him in their sight. |
| 20 E gli darai i tuoi precetti pubblicamente, e una parte di tua autorità, affinché tutta lasinagoga de' figliuoli d'Israele l'obbedisca. | 20 You shall invest him with some of your authority, that all the congregation of the people of Israel may obey. |
| 21 Per lui Eleazaro sacerdote consulterà il Signore, quando siavi da far qualche cosa. Secondola parola di lui egli andrà, o starà, e con lui tutti i figliuoli d'Israele, e tutta lamoltitudine. | 21 And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the LORD; at his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole congregation." |
| 22 Fece Mosè, come aveva ordinalo il Signore. E prese Giosuè, e lo presentò dinanzi ad Eleazarosommo sacerdote, e a tutta l'adunanza del popolo: | 22 And Moses did as the LORD commanded him; he took Joshua and caused him to stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation, |
| 23 E imposte le mani sul capo di lui, spiegò tutti gli ordini dati dal Signore. | 23 and he laid his hands upon him, and commissioned him as the LORD directed through Moses. |
