1 ORAZIONE DI GEREMIA PROFETA. Ricorditi, o Signore, di quel, che è a noi avvenuto: mira, e considera la nostra ignominia.	1 Remember, O Lord, what is come upon us: consider and behold our reproach.
2 La nostra eredità è andata in mano a' forestieri; le nostre case ad estranei.	2 Our inheritance is turned to aliens: our houses to strangers.
3 Siam divenuti pupilli privi di padre: le madri nostre son come vedove.	3 We are become orphans without a father: our mothers are as widows.
4 A prezzo di denaro abbiam bevuta la nostra acqua, col denaro abbiam comperate le nostre legna.	4 We have drunk our water for money: we have bought our wood.
5 Eravamo condotti presi pel nostro collo: requie non concedevasi agli stanchi.	5 We were dragged by the necks, we were weary and no rest was given us.
6 Agli Egiziani, ed agli Assiri porgemmo le mani, per essere satollati di pane.	6 We have given our hand to Egypt, and to the Assyrians, that we might be satisfied with bread.
7 I padri nostri peccarono, e più non sono: e noi abbiam portate le loro iniquità.	7 Our fathers have sinned, and are not: and we have borne their iniquities.
8 I servi nostri ci han dominati: non v'ebbe chi dalle mani loro ci riscattasse.	8 Servants have ruled over us: there was none to redeem us out of their hand.
9 Con pericolo di nostra vita i luoghi deserti andavamo a provvederci di sostentamento, temendo sempre la spada.	9 We fetched our bread at the peril of our lives, because of the sword in the desert.
10 La nostra pelle è arsa come un forno per l'atrocità della fame.	10 Our skin was burnt as an oven, by reason of the violence of the famine.
11 Svergognavano in Sion le donne, e le vergini nella città di Giuda.	11 They oppressed the women in Sion, and the virgins in the cities of Juda.
12 I principi sono stati appiccati per la mano, non hanno avuto rispetto alle facce de' vecchi.	12 The princes were hanged up by their hand: they did not respect the persons of the ancient.
13 Hanno disonorati i giovanetti, e i fanciulli son venuti meno sotto il bastone.	13 They abused the young men indecently: and the children fell under the wood.
14 Mancano alle porte i seniori, i giovani al coro de' suonatori.	14 The ancients have ceased from the gates: the young men from the choir of the singers.
15 E estinta nel nostro cuor l'allegrezza: le nostre armonie sono cangiate in lutto.	15 The joy of our heart is ceased, our dancing is turned into mourning.
16 E caduta la corona dal nostro capo: guai a noi, che abbiamo peccato.	16 The crown is fallen from our head woe to us, because we have sinned.
17 Per questo il cuor nostro è addolorato; per questo han perduto il lume gli occhi nostri.	17 Therefore is our heart sorrowful, therefore are our eyes become dim,
18 Perchè desolato è il monte di Sion, le volpi per esso camminano.	18 For mount Sion, because it is destroyed, foxes have walked upon it.
19 Ma tu, o Signore, sarai in eterno, il tuo trono per tutte quante le generazioni.	19 But thou, O Lord, shalt remain for ever, thy throne from generation to generation.
20 Perchè ti scorderai tu per sempre di noi? ci abbandonerai tu per la lunghezza de' giorni?	20 Why wilt thou forget us for ever? why wilt thou forsake us for a long time?
21 Convertici a te, o Signore, e noi ci convertiremo, rinnovella tu i nostri giorni, come da principio.	21 Convert us, O Lord, to thee, and we shall be converted: renew our days, as from the beginning.
22 Ma tu ci hai rigettati terribilmente: tu se' sdegnato grandemente contro di noi.	22 But thou hast utterly rejected us, thou art exceedingly angry against us.
