| 1 Queste cose dice il Signore: Va alla casa del re di Giuda, ed ivi dirai queste parole: | 1 Thus says the LORD: "Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word, |
| 2 Ascolta la Parola del Signore, o re di Giuda, che siedi sul trono di David de; tu, e i tuoi servitori, e il popol tuo, che entra per queste porte. | 2 and say, 'Hear the word of the LORD, O King of Judah, who sit on the throne of David, you, and your servants, and your people who enter these gates. |
| 3 Queste cose dice il Signore: Rendete ragione, e fate giustizia, e liberate dalle mani del calunniatore gli oppressi per prepotenza: e non affliggete, e non opprimete iniquamente il forestiero, e il pupillo, e la vedova: e non spargete in questo luogo il sangue innocente. | 3 Thus says the LORD: Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the alien, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place. |
| 4 Imperocché se veramente farete così, entreranno per le porte di questa casa i re della stirpe di David a sedere sul trono di lui, e saliranno su' cocchi, e sui cavalli eglino, e i loro servitori, e il loro popolo. | 4 For if you will indeed obey this word, then there shall enter the gates of this house kings who sit on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their servants, and their people. |
| 5 Che se voi non ascolterete queste parole, per me stesso io giuro, dice il Signore, che onesta casa sarà desolata. | 5 But if you will not heed these words, I swear by myself, says the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation. |
| 6 Imperocché ecco quello, che dice il Signore intorno alla casa del re di Giuda: o Galaad, tu a me sei la testa del Libano: io giuro, che renderò te un deserto (come) le disabitate città. | 6 For thus says the LORD concerning the house of the king of Judah: "'You are as Gilead to me, as the summit of Lebanon, yet surely I will make you a desert, an uninhabited city. |
| 7 E io contro di te santificherò l'uomo uccisore, e le armi sue: e troncheranno gli eletti tuoi cedri, e li getteranno sul fuoco. | 7 I will prepare destroyers against you, each with his weapons; and they shall cut down your choicest cedars, and cast them into the fire. |
| 8 E passerà molta gente per questa città, e dirà l'uno al suo compagno: Per qual motivo è stata trattata così dal Signore questa grande città? | 8 "'And many nations will pass by this city, and every man will say to his neighbor, "Why has the LORD dealt thus with this great city?" |
| 9 E sarà loro risposto: Perchè mancarono alla alleanza del Signore Dio loro, e adorarono dei stranieri, e servirono a questi. | 9 And they will answer, "Because they forsook the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshiped other gods and served them."'" |
| 10 Non piangete il morto, né menate duolo a causa di lui; ma piangete quello, che parte: perocché egli più non tornerà, e non vedrà la terra, dov'egli nacque: | 10 Weep not for him who is dead, nor bemoan him; but weep bitterly for him who goes away, for he shall return no more to see his native land. |
| 11 Imperocché cosi parla il Signore a Sellum figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda, il quale ha regnato invece di Giosia suo padre, che andò via da questo luogo. Egli non ritornerà qua mai più: | 11 For thus says the LORD concerning Shallum the son of Josiah, king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, and who went away from this place: "He shall return here no more, |
| 12 Ma nel luogo, dov' io lo ho tra portato, ivi morrà, e non vedrà mai più questa terra. | 12 but in the place where they have carried him captive, there shall he die, and he shall never see this land again." |
| 13 Guai a colui, che edifica la sua casa sull'ingiustizia, e i suoi appartamenti non sull'equità: che angaria senza ragione il suo prossimo, né gli darà la mercede. | 13 "Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his upper rooms by injustice; who makes his neighbor serve him for nothing, and does not give him his wages; |
| 14 Il quale va dicendo: Io mi fabbricherò una casa vasta, e grandiosi appartamenti, e vi fa le finestre, e le soffitte di cedro, le quali fa dipingere col minio. | 14 who says, 'I will build myself a great house with spacious upper rooms,' and cuts out windows for it, paneling it with cedar, and painting it with vermilion. |
| 15 Forse che tu regnerai, perchè al cedro ti paragoni? Il padre tuo non mangiò egli, e bevve, e rendeva ragione, e facea giustizia, mentre era in prosperità? | 15 Do you think you are a king because you compete in cedar? Did not your father eat and drink and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him. |
| 16 Giudicò la causa del povero, e del mendico con suo gran prò: e ciò non fu egli, perchè ei conobbe me, dice il Signore? | 16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Is not this to know me? says the LORD. |
| 17 Ma gli occhi tuoi, e il cuor tuo mirano all'avarizia, e a spargere il sangue innocente, e a ordire calunnie, e a correre al male. | 17 But you have eyes and heart only for your dishonest gain, for shedding innocent blood, and for practicing oppression and violence." |
| 18 Per questo così parla il Signorea Joachim figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda: Non lo piangeranno, dicendo: Infelice fratello, e sorella infelice: né grideranno: Ahi, Signore, ahi, inclito re. | 18 Therefore thus says the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah: "They shall not lament for him, saying, 'Ah my brother!' or 'Ah sister!' They shall not lament for him, saying, 'Ah lord!' or 'Ah his majesty!' |
| 19 Avrà sepoltura simile a quella dell'asino; sarà gittato a marcire fuor delle porte di Gerusalemme. | 19 With the burial of an ass he shall be buried, dragged and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem." |
| 20 Sali sul Libano, e grida; e in Basan alza la tua voce, e grida a quegli, che passano; che tutti i tuoi amatori sono annichilati. | 20 "Go up to Lebanon, and cry out, and lift up your voice in Bashan; cry from Abarim, for all your lovers are destroyed. |
| 21 Io ti parlai nella tua prosperità; e tu dicesti: Non darò retta: questo e il tuo stile fin dalla tua adolescenza, di non ascoltar la mia voce. | 21 I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, 'I will not listen.' This has been your way from your youth, that you have not obeyed my voice. |
| 22 Tutti i pastori tuoi si pasceranno di vento; e i tuoi amatori anderanno in ischiavitù e allora tu sarai confusa, e ti vergognerai di tua grande malizia. | 22 The wind shall shepherd all your shepherds, and your lovers shall go into captivity; then you will be ashamed and confounded because of all your wickedness. |
| 23 Tu, che siedi sul Libano, e fai tuo nido sui cedri, in qual maniera gemerai quando ti verranno i dolori, come quelli di donna nel parto? | 23 O inhabitant of Lebanon, nested among the cedars, how you will groan when pangs come upon you, pain as of a woman in travail!" |
| 24 Io giuro, dice il Signore; che se Jeconia figliuolo di Joachim, re di Giuda, fosse anello della mia mano destra, io me lo strapperei di lì. | 24 "As I live, says the LORD, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, were the signet ring on my right hand, yet I would tear you off |
| 25 E ti darò in potere di que', che cercano la tua morte, e in mano di quegli, de' quali la vista ti fa paura, in mano di Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia, e in mano de' Caldei. | 25 and give you into the hand of those who seek your life, into the hand of those of whom you are afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of the Chaldeans. |
| 26 E manderò te, e la madre tua, che ti ha generato, in paese straniero, dove voi non siete nati, e dove morrete. | 26 I will hurl you and the mother who bore you into another country, where you were not born, and there you shall die. |
| 27 E in quella terra, a cui aspira l'anima loro di ritornare, non torneranno. | 27 But to the land to which they will long to return, there they shall not return." |
| 28 E egli quest'uomo, Jeconia un vaso di terra spezzato? E egli un vaso, che non piaccia a nissuno: Per qual motivo sono stati ripudiati egli, e la sua stirpe, e gettati in una terra, ch'ei non conoscevano? | 28 Is this man Coniah a despised, broken pot, a vessel no one cares for? Why are he and his children hurled and cast into a land which they do not know? |
| 29 Terra, terra, terra, odi la Parola del Signore. | 29 O land, land, land, hear the word of the LORD! |
| 30 Queste cose dice il Signore: quest'uomo scrivilo sterile, uomo, che ne' giorni suoi non avrà prosperità: né alcun vi sarà di sua stirpe, che segga sul trono di David, ed abbia mai più potestà in Giuda. | 30 Thus says the LORD: "Write this man down as childless, a man who shall not succeed in his days; for none of his offspring shall succeed in sitting on the throne of David, and ruling again in Judah." |
