KING JAMES BIBLEDOUAI-RHEIMS
Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:1 Hear, O Lord, my prayer: give ear to my supplication in thy truth: hear me in thy justice.
My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight no man living shall be justified.
LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!3 For the enemy hath persecuted my soul: he hath brought down my life to the earth. He hath made me to dwell in darkness as those that have been dead of old:
Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.4 and my spirit is in anguish within me: my heart within me is troubled.
Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.5 I remembered the days of old, I meditated on all thy works: I meditated upon the works of thy hands.
Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them.6 I stretched forth my hands to thee: my soul is as earth without water unto thee.
Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;7 Hear me speedily, O Lord: my spirit hath fainted away. Turn not away thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.
Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.8 Cause me to hear thy mercy in the morning; for in thee have I hoped. Make the way known to me, wherein I should walk: for I have lifted up my soul to thee.
I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.9 Deliver me from my enemies, O Lord, to thee have I fled:
It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.10 teach me to do thy will, for thou art my God. Thy good spirit shall lead me into the right land:
Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:11 for thy name's sake, O Lord, thou wilt quicken me in thy justice. Thou wilt bring my soul out of trouble:
That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:12 and in thy mercy thou wilt destroy my enemies. And thou wilt cut off all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.
That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:
That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.
Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
