1 I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming, and his kingdom:	1 Je te demande au nom de Dieu et du Christ Jésus qui doit venir juger les vivants et les morts - car il va se manifester et il régnera. Je te le demande:
2 Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine.	2 proclame la Parole, insiste à temps et à contre-temps, cherche des arguments, ordonne et encourage, toujours avec patience et pédagogie.
3 For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears:	3 Un temps viendra où les gens ne voudront plus de la saine doctrine; alors ils se trouveront des maîtres à leur goût qui sauront comment chatouiller leurs oreilles.
4 And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables.	4 Ils fermeront leurs oreilles à la vérité et s’intéresseront à des fables.
5 But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry. Be sober.	5 Il te faut donc rester toujours en alerte. Ne ménage pas ta peine, fais ton travail d’évangéliste, remplis ton service.
6 For I am even now ready to be sacrificed: and the time of my dissolution is at hand.	6 Pour moi, je suis déjà près de la fin et le moment de mon départ approche.
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.	7 J’ai fait un bon match, j’ai couru jusqu’au bout, j’ai gardé le dépôt qu’on m’avait confié.
8 As to the rest, there is laid up for me a crown of justice, which the Lord the just judge will render to me in that day: and not only to me, but to them also that love his coming. Make haste to come to me quickly.	8 Maintenant j’attends la couronne de toute vie sainte que le Seigneur me donnera, lui le juste Juge, quand viendra son jour, et pas seulement à moi, mais aussi à tous les amis de sa venue glorieuse.
9 For Demas hath left me, loving this world, and is gone to Thessalonica:	9 Fais tout pour me rejoindre au plus tôt.
10 Crescens into Galatia, Titus into Dalmatia.	10 Démas aimait ce monde, et il m’a laissé; il est rentré à Thessalonique. Crescens est parti en Galatie et Tite en Dalmatie.
11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.	11 Seul Luc est avec moi. Prends Marc au passage car il me sera bien utile pour le ministère.
12 But Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.	12 J’ai envoyé Tychique à Éphèse.
13 The cloak that I left at Troas, with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, especially the parchments.	13 Quand tu viendras, apporte-moi le manteau que j’ai laissé à Troas chez Carpus, et aussi les livres, surtout les parchemins.
14 Alexander the coppersmith hath done me much evil: the Lord will reward him according to his works:	14 Alexandre, le forgeron, m’a fait beaucoup de mal: Le Seigneur lui donnera ce que méritent ses œuvres.
15 Whom do thou also avoid, for he hath greatly withstood our words.	15 Mais méfie-toi de lui car il contredit fortement ce que nous disons.
16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all forsook me: may it not be laid to their charge.	16 La première fois que j’ai présenté ma défense, personne n’était avec moi, tous m’ont abandonné; que le Seigneur leur pardonne.
17 But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that by me the preaching may be accomplished, and that all the Gentiles may hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.	17 Mais le Seigneur était avec moi, et il m’a donné la force pour que le message soit proclamé grâce à moi et que tous les païens en aient connaissance. Et j’ai été sauvé de la gueule du lion.
18 The Lord hath delivered me from every evil work: and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.	18 Le Seigneur me délivrera de tout mal et me sauvera, m’envoyant à son royaume du Ciel. À lui seul la gloire pour les siècles des siècles! Amen.
19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.	19 Salue Prisca et Aquilas et la famille d’Onésiphore.
20 Erastus remained at Corinth. And Trophimus I left sick at Miletus.	20 Éraste est resté à Corinthe, et j’ai laissé Trophime à Milet car il était malade.
21 Make haste to come before winter Eubulus and Pudens, and Linus and Claudia, and all the brethren, salute thee.	21 Dépêche-toi de venir avant l’hiver. Je t’envoie le salut d’Euboule et Pudens, de Linus, de Claudia et de tous les frères.
22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.	22 Que le Seigneur soit avec ton esprit. Que la grâce soit avec vous tous.
