1 Vous êtes des fils pour Yahvé votre Dieu. Vous ne vous ferez pas d’incisions ni de tonsures sur le front pour un mort.	1 “Be sons of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves, nor make yourselves bald, because of the dead.
2 Tu es un peuple saint pour Yahvé ton Dieu, il t’a choisi pour que tu sois son peuple au milieu de tous les peuples de la terre.	2 For you are a holy people, for the Lord your God. And he chose you, so that you may be a people particularly his, out of all the nations on earth.
3 Tu ne mangeras rien d’abominable.	3 You shall not eat the things that are unclean.
4 Voici les animaux que vous pourrez manger: le bœuf, le mouton, la chèvre,	4 These are the animals which you ought to eat: the ox, and the sheep, and the goat,
5 le cerf, la gazelle, le daim, la chèvre de Nubie, l’antilope, le bœuf sauvage et la chèvre sauvage.	5 the stag and the roe deer, the gazelle, the wild goat, the addax, the antelope, the giraffe.
6 Vous mangerez de tout animal qui a le sabot divisé, le pied fourchu, et qui rumine;	6 Every beast which has a hoof divided into two parts and which also chews the cud, you shall eat.
7 mais vous ne mangerez pas ceux qui ruminent seulement ou qui ont seulement le sabot divisé, le pied fourchu. Ainsi vous ne mangerez pas le chameau, le lièvre et le lapin qui ruminent mais qui n’ont pas le sabot divisé. Ils seront impurs à vos yeux.	7 But those which chew over again, but do not have a divided hoof, you must not eat, such as the camel, the hare, and the hyrax. Since these chew the cud, but do not have a divided the hoof, they shall be unclean to you.
8 C’est encore le cas pour le porc qui a le sabot divisé mais qui ne rumine pas: il sera impur à vos yeux. Vous ne mangerez pas de leur chair et vous ne toucherez pas leur cadavre.	8 The pig also, since it has a divided hoof, but does not chew over again, shall be unclean. Their flesh shall not be eaten, and you shall not touch their carcasses.
9 Parmi tous les êtres qui vivent dans l’eau, vous pourrez manger ceux qui ont nageoires et écailles.	9 These you shall eat out of all that dwells in the waters: whatever has fins and scales, you shall eat.
10 Mais vous ne mangerez pas de ceux qui n’ont ni nageoires ni écailles: ils seront impurs à vos yeux.	10 Whatever is without fins and scales, you shall not eat, for these are unclean.
11 Vous pourrez manger tous les oiseaux purs.	11 All the clean birds, you shall eat.
12 Voici ceux que vous ne mangerez pas: l’aigle, la buse et le vautour,	12 You shall not eat those that are unclean: such as the eagle, and the griffin, and the osprey,
13 le faucon, le milan et toute espèce de rapaces,	13 the crane, and the vulture, and the kite, according to their kind,
14 toute espèce de corbeaux,	14 and any kind of raven,
15 l’autruche, le hibou, la mouette et toute espèce d’éperviers,	15 and the ostrich, and the owl, and the gull, and the hawk, according to their kind,
16 le chat-huant, l’ibis et la chouette,	16 the heron, and the swan, and the ibis,
17 le pélican, le cygne et le cormoran,	17 and the sea bird, the marsh hen, and the night raven,
18 la cigogne, le héron de toute espèce, la huppe et la chauve-souris.	18 the pelican and the plover, each in their kind, likewise the crested hoopoe and the bat.
19 Tous les insectes ailés seront impurs à vos yeux,	19 And anything which crawls and also has little wings shall be unclean, and shall not be eaten.
20 mais de tout oiseau pur vous pourrez manger.	20 All that is clean, you shall eat.
21 Tu ne mangeras d’aucune bête morte, mais tu pourras la donner à l’étranger qui habite au milieu de toi: il la mangera ou la vendra à un autre étranger. Mais toi, tu es un peuple saint pour Yahvé ton Dieu. Tu ne feras pas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.	21 But whatever has died of itself, you shall not eat from it. Give it to the sojourner, who is within your gates, so that he may eat, or sell it to him. For you are the holy people of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in the milk of his mother.
22 Tu prélèveras chaque année la dîme sur le produit de ce que tu auras semé, sur le produit de tes champs.	22 Each year, you shall separate the tithes out of all your crops which spring forth from the earth.
23 Tu mangeras devant Yahvé ton Dieu, dans le lieu qu’il aura choisi pour y faire habiter son Nom, la dîme de ton blé, de ton vin et de ton huile, ainsi que les premiers-nés de la vache et de la brebis. Ainsi tu apprendras à garder toujours la crainte de Yahvé, ton Dieu.	23 And you shall eat these in the sight of the Lord your God, in the place which he will choose, so that his name may be invoked there: the tenth part of your grain and wine and oil, and the firstborn from the herds and your sheep. So may you learn to fear the Lord your God at all times.
24 Cependant, lorsque Yahvé ton Dieu t’aura béni, si le lieu qu’il a choisi pour y faire habiter son Nom est trop éloigné et que le chemin est trop long pour toi,	24 But when the way and the place which the Lord your God will have chosen is further away, and he will have blessed you, so that you are not able to carry all these things to it,
25 tu échangeras ta dîme contre de l’argent, tu prendras l’argent sur toi et tu te rendras au lieu que Yahvé ton Dieu aura choisi.	25 you shall sell them all, so as to turn them into money, and you shall carry it in your hand, and you shall set out for the place which the Lord will choose.
26 Là, avec ton argent, tu achèteras tout ce que tu voudras: des bœufs, des brebis, du vin, des liqueurs fermentées, en un mot, tout ce que tu voudras, et tu le mangeras là devant Yahvé ton Dieu. Tu feras la fête, toi et ta famille,	26 And you shall buy with the same money whatever pleases you, either from the herds or from the sheep, and also wine and liquor, and all that your soul desires. And you shall eat in the sight of the Lord your God, and you shall feast: you and your household.
27 sans oublier le Lévite qui habite au milieu de toi, car il n’a ni part ni héritage avec toi.	27 As for the Levite, who is within your gates, take care that you do not abandon him, for he has no other portion within your possession.
28 Tous les trois ans, tu mettras de côté, toute la dîme de tes récoltes de l’année et tu la garderas dans ta cité.	28 In the third year, you shall separate another tenth part of all the things which spring forth for you at that time, and you shall store it within your gates.
29 Alors le Lévite qui n’a ni part ni héritage avec toi, l’étranger, l’orphelin et la veuve qui habitent au milieu de toi viendront, ils mangeront et seront comblés. Ainsi Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira dans tout ce que tu entreprendras.	29 And the Levite, who has no other portion or possession with you, and the sojourner as well as the orphan and the widow who are within your gates, shall approach and eat and be satisfied, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works of your hands which you shall do.”
