1 וַיַּעַן בִּלְדַּד הַשֻּׁחִי וַיֹּאמַר	1 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered:
2 הַמְשֵׁל וָפַחַד עִמֹּו עֹשֶׂה לֹום בִּמְרֹומָיו	2 "Dominion and fear are with God; he makes peace in his high heaven.
3 הֲיֵשׁ מִסְפָּר לִגְדוּדָיו וְעַל־מִי לֹא־יָקוּם אֹורֵהוּ	3 Is there any number to his armies? Upon whom does his light not arise?
4 וּמַה־יִּצְדַּק אֱנֹושׁ עִם־אֵל וּמַה־יִּזְכֶּה יְלוּד אִשָּׁה	4 How then can man be righteous before God? How can he who is born of woman be clean?
5 הֵן עַד־יָרֵחַ וְלֹא יַאֲהִיל וְכֹוכָבִים לֹא־זַכּוּ בְעֵינָיו	5 Behold, even the moon is not bright and the stars are not clean in his sight;
6 אַף כִּי־אֱנֹושׁ רִמָּה וּבֶן־אָדָם תֹּולֵעָה׃ פ	6 how much less man, who is a maggot, and the son of man, who is a worm!"
