2 alla sorella Appia, ad Archippo, nostro compagno d'armi, e alla chiesa che si raduna in casa tua;	2 our sister Apphia, our fellow soldier Archippus and the church that meets in your house.
3 grazia a voi e pace da Dio Padre nostro e da Gesù Cristo Signore.	3 Grace and the peace of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Ogni volta che mi ricordo di te, nelle mie preghiere ringrazio il mio Dio,	4 I always thank my God, mentioning you in my prayers,
5 sentendo parlare del tuo amore e della fede che hai verso il Signore Gesù e verso tutti i santi,	5 because I hear of the love and the faith which you have for the Lord Jesus and for al God's holypeople.
6 affinché la solidarietà della tua fede sia operante in forza di una più piena conoscenza di tutto il bene che si compie tra noi e per il Cristo.	6 I pray that your fel owship in faith may come to expression in ful knowledge of all the good we can dofor Christ.
7 Ho provato infatti una gioia profonda e consolazione per il tuo amore, poiché il cuore dei santi è stato ricreato per merito tuo, fratello.	7 I have received much joy and encouragement by your love; you have set the hearts of God's holypeople at rest.
8 Pertanto, benché possa liberamente comandarti in Cristo ciò che devi fare,	8 Therefore, although in Christ I have no hesitations about telling you what your duty is,
9 ti supplico piuttosto in nome dell'amore, io Paolo, vecchio e per di più, ora, prigioniero di Cristo Gesù,	9 I am rather appealing to your love, being what I am, Paul, an old man, and now also a prisoner ofChrist Jesus.
10 ti supplico per il mio figlio, che ho generato nelle catene, Onesimo,	10 I am appealing to you for a child of mine, whose father I became while wearing these chains: I meanOnesimus.
11 quegli che una volta non ti fu utile, ora invece è utile a te e a me.	11 He was of no use to you before, but now he is useful both to you and to me.

16 non già come schiavo, ma più che schiavo, fratello a me carissimo e, a maggior ragione, a te secondo il mondo e secondo il Signore.	16 no longer as a slave, but something much better than a slave, a dear brother; especial y dear to me,but how much more to you, both on the natural plane and in the Lord.
17 Se dunque mi ritieni tuo amico, accoglilo come fossi io stesso!	17 So if you grant me any fel owship with yourself, welcome him as you would me;
18 Se poi ti avesse danneggiato o ti deve qualche cosa, mettilo sul mio conto.	18 if he has wronged you in any way or owes you anything, put it down to my account.
19 Io, Paolo, scrivo ciò di mio proprio pugno: pagherò io personalmente. Ma non ti dico che devi a me anche te stesso.	19 I am writing this in my own hand: I, Paul, shal pay it back -- I make no mention of a further debt, thatyou owe your very self to me!
20 Sì, fratello! Che io possa servirmi di te nel Signore. Ricrea il mio cuore in Cristo.	20 Wel then, brother, I am counting on you, in the Lord; set my heart at rest, in Christ.
21 Ti scrivo perché ho fiducia nella tua docilità, sapendo che farai più di quanto chiedo.	21 I am writing with complete confidence in your compliance, sure that you wil do even more than I ask.
