1 Oracle on Tyre: Wail, O ships of Tarshish, for your port is destroyed; From the land of the Kittim the news reaches them.	1 - Vaticinio su Tiro. Urlate, o navi del mare, perchè la casa onde solevan tornare è stata devastata; la notizia è arrivata a loro dalla terra di Cetim.
2 Silence! you who dwell on the coast, you merchants of Sidon, Whose messengers crossed the sea	2 Ammutolite voi, che abitate l'isola, dove si affollavano i mercanti di Sidone che percorrevano il mare.
3 over the deep waters. The grain of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue, and she the merchant among nations.	3 Il prodotto delle estese irrigazioni del Nilo, i raccolti del fiume erano le sue entrate; essa era diventata l'emporio delle genti.
4 Shame, O Sidon, fortress on the sea, for the sea has spoken: "I have not been in labor, nor given birth, nor raised young men, nor reared virgins."	4 Quale vergogna per te, o Sidone! che il mare, la rocca del mare, debba dire: «Non ho più concepito, non partorito, non cresciuto giovani, e non ho più allevato fanciulle».
5 When it is heard in Egypt they shall be in anguish at the news of Tyre.	5 Quando lo si saprà in Egitto, saranno nelle ambasce sulla sorte di Tiro.
6 Pass over to Tarshish, wailing, you who dwell on the coast!	6 Passate oltre mare, stridete, o abitatori dell'isola!
7 Is this your wanton city, whose origin is from old, Whose feet have taken her to dwell in distant lands?	7 Non è forse la vostra, questa città, un tempo tanto celebre per la sua antichità? I suoi piedi la condurranno a peregrinare lontano.
8 Who has planned such a thing against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, Whose merchants are princes, whose traders are the earth's honored men?	8 Chi ha escogitato questo contro Tiro, un tempo incoronata, i cui mercanti erano principi, i cui negozianti erano i più rinomati della terra?
9 The LORD of hosts has planned it, to disgrace all pride of majesty, to degrade all the earth's honored men.	9 Il Signore degli eserciti ha escogitato questo, per distruggere l'orgoglio di tutta la gloria, e travolgere nell'ignominia tutti i rinomati della terra.
10 Cross to your own land, O ship of Tarshish; the harbor is no more.	10 Passa, come una fiumana al di là della tua terra, o figlia del mare, tu non hai più zona nè cintura.
11 His hand he stretches out over the sea, he shakes kingdoms; The LORD has ordered the destruction of Canaan's strongholds.	11 Egli ha steso la mano sopra il mare, ha sconvolto i regni: il Signore ha emanato un decreto contro Canaan per distruggere i suoi propugnacoli,
12 You shall exult no more, he says, you who are now oppressed, virgin daughter Sidon. Arise, pass over to the Kittim, even there you shall find no rest.	12 e disse: «Tu non continuerai più a vantarti, quando sarai sotto l'oppressione, o vergine figlia di Sidone; alzati, passa in Cetim oltre il mare: quivi pure non avrai riposo».
13 (This people is the land of the Chaldeans, not Assyria.) She whom the impious founded, setting up towers for her, Has had her castles destroyed, and has been turned into a ruin.	13 Ecco la terra dei Caldei; questo popolo che non c'era e che Assur fondò, ebbe il nerbo dei suoi tradotto in ischiavitù, atterrate le sue case, e ridotta la città in rovina.
14 Lament, O ships of Tarshish, for your haven is destroyed.	14 Urlate, o navi del mare, perchè la vostra fortezza è stata devastata!
15 On that day, Tyre shall be forgotten for seventy years. With the days of another king, at the end of seventy years, it shall be for Tyre as in the song about the harlot:	15 E in quel giorno sarai dimenticata, o Tiro, settant'anni, quanto è la vita d'un re; e dopo settanta anni avverrà di Tiro come canta la canzone della cortigiana:
16 Take a harp, go about the city, O forgotten harlot; Pluck the strings skillfully, sing many songs, that they may remember you.	16 «Prendi la cetra gira la cittàcortigiana dimenticata, canta bene, ricanta la canzone, affinchè si ricordino di te!»
17 At the end of the seventy years the LORD shall visit Tyre. She shall return to her hire and deal with all the world's kingdoms on the face of the earth.	17 E dopo settant'anni il Signore visiterà Tiro, e la lascerà ritornare al suo mercimonio, ed essa si presterà alle voglie di tutti i regni dell'universo che sono sulla faccia della terra.
18 But her merchandise and her hire shall be sacred to the LORD. It shall not be stored up or laid away, but from her merchandise those who dwell before the LORD shall eat their fill and clothe themselves in choice attire.	18 E i suoi guadagni, e le sue mercedi saranno consacrati al Signore e non saranno riposti nè tenuti in riserva: perchè il suo guadagno sarà devoluto a quelli che staranno dinanzi al Signore, affinchè mangino a sazietà e vestano panni di durata.
