NEW AMERICAN BIBLELXX
Oracle on Tyre: Wail, O ships of Tarshish, for your port is destroyed; From the land of the Kittim the news reaches them.1 το οραμα τυρου ολολυζετε πλοια καρχηδονος οτι απωλετο και ουκετι ερχονται εκ γης κιτιαιων ηκται αιχμαλωτος
Silence! you who dwell on the coast, you merchants of Sidon, Whose messengers crossed the sea2 τινι ομοιοι γεγονασιν οι ενοικουντες εν τη νησω μεταβολοι φοινικης διαπερωντες την θαλασσαν
over the deep waters. The grain of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue, and she the merchant among nations.3 εν υδατι πολλω σπερμα μεταβολων ως αμητου εισφερομενου οι μεταβολοι των εθνων
Shame, O Sidon, fortress on the sea, for the sea has spoken: "I have not been in labor, nor given birth, nor raised young men, nor reared virgins."4 αισχυνθητι σιδων ειπεν η θαλασσα η δε ισχυς της θαλασσης ειπεν ουκ ωδινον ουδε ετεκον ουδε εξεθρεψα νεανισκους ουδε υψωσα παρθενους
When it is heard in Egypt they shall be in anguish at the news of Tyre.5 οταν δε ακουστον γενηται αιγυπτω λημψεται αυτους οδυνη περι τυρου
Pass over to Tarshish, wailing, you who dwell on the coast!6 απελθατε εις καρχηδονα ολολυξατε οι ενοικουντες εν τη νησω ταυτη
Is this your wanton city, whose origin is from old, Whose feet have taken her to dwell in distant lands?7 ουχ αυτη ην υμων η υβρις η απ' αρχης πριν η παραδοθηναι αυτην
Who has planned such a thing against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, Whose merchants are princes, whose traders are the earth's honored men?8 τις ταυτα εβουλευσεν επι τυρον μη ησσων εστιν η ουκ ισχυει οι εμποροι αυτης ενδοξοι αρχοντες της γης
The LORD of hosts has planned it, to disgrace all pride of majesty, to degrade all the earth's honored men.9 κυριος σαβαωθ εβουλευσατο παραλυσαι πασαν την υβριν των ενδοξων και ατιμασαι παν ενδοξον επι της γης
Cross to your own land, O ship of Tarshish; the harbor is no more.10 εργαζου την γην σου και γαρ πλοια ουκετι ερχεται εκ καρχηδονος
His hand he stretches out over the sea, he shakes kingdoms; The LORD has ordered the destruction of Canaan's strongholds.11 η δε χειρ σου ουκετι ισχυει κατα θαλασσαν η παροξυνουσα βασιλεις κυριος σαβαωθ ενετειλατο περι χανααν απολεσαι αυτης την ισχυν
You shall exult no more, he says, you who are now oppressed, virgin daughter Sidon. Arise, pass over to the Kittim, even there you shall find no rest.12 και ερουσιν ουκετι μη προσθητε του υβριζειν και αδικειν την θυγατερα σιδωνος και εαν απελθης εις κιτιεις ουδε εκει σοι αναπαυσις εσται
(This people is the land of the Chaldeans, not Assyria.) She whom the impious founded, setting up towers for her, Has had her castles destroyed, and has been turned into a ruin.13 και εις γην χαλδαιων και αυτη ηρημωται απο των ασσυριων ουδε εκει σοι αναπαυσις εσται οτι ο τοιχος αυτης πεπτωκεν
Lament, O ships of Tarshish, for your haven is destroyed.14 ολολυζετε πλοια καρχηδονος οτι απωλετο το οχυρωμα υμων
On that day, Tyre shall be forgotten for seventy years. With the days of another king, at the end of seventy years, it shall be for Tyre as in the song about the harlot:15 και εσται εν τη ημερα εκεινη καταλειφθησεται τυρος ετη εβδομηκοντα ως χρονος βασιλεως ως χρονος ανθρωπου και εσται μετα εβδομηκοντα ετη εσται τυρος ως ασμα πορνης
Take a harp, go about the city, O forgotten harlot; Pluck the strings skillfully, sing many songs, that they may remember you.16 λαβε κιθαραν ρεμβευσον πολεις πορνη επιλελησμενη καλως κιθαρισον πολλα ασον ινα σου μνεια γενηται
At the end of the seventy years the LORD shall visit Tyre. She shall return to her hire and deal with all the world's kingdoms on the face of the earth.17 και εσται μετα εβδομηκοντα ετη επισκοπην ποιησει ο θεος τυρου και παλιν αποκατασταθησεται εις το αρχαιον και εσται εμποριον πασαις ταις βασιλειαις της οικουμενης
But her merchandise and her hire shall be sacred to the LORD. It shall not be stored up or laid away, but from her merchandise those who dwell before the LORD shall eat their fill and clothe themselves in choice attire.18 και εσται αυτης η εμπορια και ο μισθος αγιον τω κυριω ουκ αυτοις συναχθησεται αλλα τοις κατοικουσιν εναντι κυριου πασα η εμπορια αυτης φαγειν και πιειν και εμπλησθηναι εις συμβολην μνημοσυνον εναντι κυριου
