Première épître de Jean 1

JERUSALEM	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Ce qui était dès le commencement, ce que nous avons entendu, ce que nous avons vu de nos yeux, ceque nous avons contemplé, ce que nos mains ont touché du Verbe de vie; -	1 He who was from the beginning, whom we have heard, whom we have seen with our eyes, upon whom we have gazed, and whom our hands have certainly touched: He is the Word of Life.
2 car la Vie s'est manifestée: nous l'avons vue, nous en rendons témoignage et nous vous annonçonscette Vie éternelle, qui était tournée vers le Père et qui nous est apparue -	2 And that Life has been made manifest. And we have seen, and we testify, and we announce to you: the Eternal Life, who was with the Father, and who appeared to us.
3 ce que nous avons vu et entendu, nous vous l'annonçons, afin que vous aussi soyez en communionavec nous. Quant à notre communion, elle est avec le Père et avec son Fils Jésus Christ.	3 He whom we have seen and heard, we announce to you, so that you, too, may have fellowship with us, and so that our fellowship may be with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 Tout ceci, nous vous l'écrivons pour que notre joie soit complète.	4 And this we write to you, so that you may rejoice, and so that your joy may be full.
5 Or voici le message que nous avons entendu de lui et que nous vous annonçons: Dieu est Lumière, enlui point de ténèbres.	5 And this is the announcement which we have heard from him, and which we announce to you: that God is light, and in him there is no darkness.
6 Si nous disons que nous sommes en communion avec lui alors que nous marchons dans les ténèbres,nous mentons, nous ne faisons pas la vérité.	6 If we claim that we have fellowship with him, and yet we walk in darkness, then we are lying and not telling the truth.
7 Mais si nous marchons dans la lumière comme il est lui-même dans la lumière, nous sommes encommunion les uns avec les autres, et le sang de Jésus, son Fils, nous purifie de tout péché.	7 But if we walk in the light, just as he also is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
8 Si nous disons: "Nous n'avons pas de péché", nous nous abusons, la vérité n'est pas en nous.	8 If we claim that we have no sin, then we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.
9 Si nous confessons nos péchés, lui, fidèle et juste, pardonnera nos péchés et nous purifiera de touteiniquité.	9 If we confess our sins, then he is faithful and just, so as to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all iniquity.
10 Si nous disons: "Nous n'avons pas péché", nous faisons de lui un menteur, et sa parole n'est pas ennous.	10 If we claim that we have not sinned, then we make him a liar, and his Word is not in us.
