Épître aux Philippiens 3

JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Enfin, mes frères, réjouissez-vous dans le Seigneur... Vous adresser les mêmes avis ne m'est pasà charge, et pour vous c'est une sûreté:	1 Finally, brothers, I wish you joy in the Lord. To write to you what I have already written before is notrouble to me and to you will be a protection.
2 Prenez garde aux chiens! Prenez garde aux mauvais ouvriers! Prenez garde aux faux circoncis!	2 Beware of dogs! Beware of evil workmen! Beware of self-mutilators!
3 Car c'est nous qui sommes les circoncis, nous qui offrons le culte selon l'Esprit de Dieu et tironsnotre gloire du Christ Jésus, au lieu de placer notre confiance dans la chair.	3 We are the true people of the circumcision since we worship by the Spirit of God and make Christ Jesusour only boast, not relying on physical qualifications,
4 J'aurais pourtant sujet, moi, d'avoir confiance même dans la chair; si quelque autre croit avoirdes raisons de se confier dans la chair, j'en ai bien davantage:	4 although, I myself could rely on these too. If anyone does claim to rely on them, my claim is better.
5 circoncis dès le huitième jour, de la race d'Israël, de la tribu de Benjamin, Hébreu fils d'Hébreux;quant à la Loi, un Pharisien;	5 Circumcised on the eighth day of my life, I was born of the race of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, aHebrew born of Hebrew parents. In the matter of the Law, I was a Pharisee;
6 quant au zèle, un persécuteur de l'Eglise; quant à la justice que peut donner la Loi, un hommeirréprochable.	6 as for religious fervour, I was a persecutor of the Church; as for the uprightness embodied in the Law, Iwas faultless.
7 Mais tous ces avantages dont j'étais pourvu, je les ai considérés comme un désavantage, à causedu Christ.	7 But what were once my assets I now through Christ Jesus count as losses.
8 Bien plus, désormais je considère tout comme désavantageux à cause de la supériorité de laconnaissance du Christ Jésus mon Seigneur. A cause de lui j'ai accepté de tout perdre, je considère tout commedéchets, afin de gagner le Christ,	8 Yes, I wil go further: because of the supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, I counteverything else as loss. For him I have accepted the loss of al other things, and look on them all as filth if only Ican gain Christ
9 et d'être trouvé en lui, n'ayant plus ma justice à moi, celle qui vient de la Loi, mais la justice parla foi au Christ, celle qui vient de Dieu et s'appuie sur la foi;	9 and be given a place in him, with the uprightness I have gained not from the Law, but through faith inChrist, an uprightness from God, based on faith,
10 le connaître, lui, avec la puissance de sa résurrection et la communion à ses souffrances, luidevenir conforme dans sa mort,	10 that I may come to know him and the power of his resurrection, and partake of his sufferings by beingmoulded to the pattern of his death,
11 afin de parvenir si possible à ressusciter d'entre les morts.	11 striving towards the goal of resurrection from the dead.
12 Non que je sois déjà au but, ni déjà devenu parfait; mais je poursuis ma course pour tâcher desaisir, ayant été saisi moi-même par le Christ Jésus.	12 Not that I have secured it already, nor yet reached my goal, but I am stil pursuing it in the attempt totake hold of the prize for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
13 Non, frères, je ne me flatte point d'avoir déjà saisi; je dis seulement ceci: oubliant le cheminparcouru, je vais droit de l'avant, tendu de tout mon être,	13 Brothers, I do not reckon myself as having taken hold of it; I can only say that forgetting al that liesbehind me, and straining forward to what lies in front,
14 et je cours vers le but, en vue du prix que Dieu nous appelle à recevoir là-haut, dans le ChristJésus.	14 I am racing towards the finishing-point to win the prize of God's heavenly call in Christ Jesus.
15 Nous tous qui sommes des "parfaits", c'est ainsi qu'il nous faut penser; et si, sur quelque point,vous pensez autrement, là encore Dieu vous éclairera.	15 So this is the way in which al of us who are mature should be thinking, and if you are still thinkingdifferently in any way, then God has yet to make this matter clear to you.
16 En attendant, quel que soit le point déjà atteint, marchons toujours dans la même ligne.	16 Meanwhile, let us go forward from the point we have each attained.
17 Devenez à l'envi mes imitateurs, frères, et fixez vos regards sur ceux qui se conduisent commevous en avez en nous un exemple.	17 Brothers, be united in imitating me. Keep your eyes fixed on those who act according to the exampleyou have from me.
18 Car il en est beaucoup, je vous l'ai dit souvent et je le redis aujourd'hui avec larmes, qui seconduisent en ennemis de la croix du Christ:	18 For there are so many people of whom I have often warned you, and now I warn you again with tearsin my eyes, who behave like the enemies of Christ's cross.
19 leur fin sera la perdition; ils ont pour dieu leur ventre et mettent leur gloire dans leur honte; ilsn'apprécient que les choses de la terre.	19 They are destined to be lost; their god is the stomach; they glory in what they should think shameful,since their minds are set on earthly things.
20 Pour nous, notre cité se trouve dans les cieux, d'où nous attendons ardemment, comme sauveur,le Seigneur Jésus Christ,	20 But our homeland is in heaven and it is from there that we are expecting a Saviour, the Lord JesusChrist,
21 qui transfigurera notre corps de misère pour le conformer à son corps de gloire, avec cette forcequ'il a de pouvoir même se soumettre toutes choses.	21 who wil transfigure the wretched body of ours into the mould of his glorious body, through the workingof the power which he has, even to bring all things under his mastery.
