Deuxième épître aux Corinthiens 13

JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 C'est la troisième fois que je vais me rendre chez vous. Toute affaire se décidera sur la parolede deux témoins ou de trois.	1 This wil be the third time I have confronted you. Whatever the misdemeanour, the evidence of two orthree witnesses is required to sustain a charge.
2 Je l'ai déjà dit à ceux qui ont péché précédemment et à tous les autres, et je le redis d'avanceaujourd'hui que je suis absent, comme lors de mon second séjour: si je reviens, je serai sans ménagement,	2 I gave you notice once, and now, though I am not with you, I give notice again, just as when I was withyou for a second time, to those who sinned before, and to all others; and it is to this effect, that when I do comenext time, I shal have no mercy.
3 puisque vous cherchez une preuve que le Christ parle en moi, lui qui n'est pas faible à votreégard, mais qui est puissant parmi vous.	3 Since you are asking for a proof that it is Christ who speaks in me; he is not weak with you but hispower is at work among you;
4 Certes, il a été crucifié en raison de sa faiblesse, mais il est vivant par la puissance de Dieu.Et nous aussi, nous sommes faibles en lui, bien sûr, mais nous vivrons avec lui, par la puissance de Dieu à votreégard.	4 for, though it was out of weakness that he was crucified, he is alive now with the power of God. We,too, are weak in him, but with regard to you we shal live with him by the power of God.
5 Examinez-vous vous-mêmes pour voir si vous êtes dans la foi. Eprouvez-vous vous-mêmes.Ne reconnaissez-vous pas que Jésus Christ est en vous? A moins peut-être que l'épreuve ne tourne contre vous.	5 Put yourselves to the test to make sure you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. Do you notrecognise yourselves as people in whom Jesus Christ is present? - unless, that is, you fail the test.
6 Vous reconnaîtrez, je l'espère, qu'elle ne tourne pas contre nous.	6 But we, as I hope you wil come to recognise, do not fail the test.
7 Nous prions Dieu que vous ne fassiez aucun mal; notre désir n'est pas de paraître l'emporterdans l'épreuve, mais de vous voir faire le bien, et de succomber ainsi dans l'épreuve.	7 It is our prayer to God that you may do nothing wrong -- not so that we have the credit of passing atest, but because you wil be doing what is right, even if we do not pass the test.
8 Car nous n'avons aucun pouvoir contre la vérité; nous n'en avons que pour la vérité.	8 We have no power to resist the truth; only to further the truth;
9 Oui, nous nous réjouissons, quand nous sommes faibles et que vous êtes forts. Ce que nousdemandons dans nos prières, c'est votre affermissement.	9 and we are delighted to be weak if only you are strong. What we ask in our prayers is that you shouldbe made perfect.
10 Voilà pourquoi je vous écris cela, étant absent, afin de n'avoir pas, une fois présent, à userde sévérité selon le pouvoir que le Seigneur m'a donné pour édifier, et non pour détruire.	10 That is why I am writing this while still far away, so that when I am with you I shal not have to beharsh, with the authority that the Lord has given me, an authority that is for building up and not for breakingdown.
11 Au demeurant, frères, soyez joyeux; affermissez-vous; exhortez-vous. Ayez mêmesentiment; vivez en paix, et le Dieu de la charité et de la paix sera avec vous.	11 To end then, brothers, we wish you joy; try to grow perfect; encourage one another; have a commonmind and live in peace, and the God of love and peace wil be with you.
12 Saluez-vous mutuellement d'un saint baiser. Tous les saints vous saluent.	12 Greet one another with the holy kiss. Al God's holy people send you their greetings.
13 La grâce du Seigneur Jésus Christ, l'amour de Dieu et la communion du Saint Esprit soientavec vous tous!	13 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fel owship of the Holy Spirit be with youal .
