JERUSALEM	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Il n'y a donc plus maintenant de condamnation pour ceux qui sont dans le Christ Jésus.	1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who are not walking according to the flesh.
2 La loi de l'Esprit qui donne la vie dans le Christ Jésus t'a affranchi de la loi du péché et de la mort.	2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed me from the law of sin and death.
3 De fait, chose impossible à la Loi, impuissante du fait de la chair, Dieu, en envoyant son propreFils avec une chair semblable à celle du péché et en vue du péché, a condamné le péché dans la chair,	3 For though this was impossible under the law, because it was weakened by the flesh, God sent his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and because of sin, in order to condemn sin in the flesh,
4 afin que le précepte de la Loi fût accompli en nous dont la conduite n'obéit pas à la chair mais àl'esprit.	4 so that the justification of the law might be fulfilled in us. For we are not walking according to the flesh, but according to the spirit.
5 En effet, ceux qui vivent selon la chair désirent ce qui est charnel; ceux qui vivent selon l'esprit, cequi est spirituel.	5 For those who are in agreement with the flesh are mindful of the things of the flesh. But those who are in agreement with the spirit are mindful of the things of the spirit.
6 Car le désir de la chair, c'est la mort, tandis que le désir de l'esprit, c'est la vie et la paix,	6 For the prudence of the flesh is death. But the prudence of the spirit is life and peace.
7 puisque le désir de la chair est inimitié contre Dieu: il ne se soumet pas à la loi de Dieu, il ne lepeut même pas,	7 And the wisdom of the flesh is inimical to God. For it is not subject to the law of God, nor can it be.
8 et ceux qui sont dans la chair ne peuvent plaire à Dieu.	8 So those who are in the flesh are not able to please God.
9 Vous, vous n'êtes pas dans la chair mais dans l'esprit, puisque l'Esprit de Dieu habite en vous. Quin'a pas l'Esprit du Christ ne lui appartient pas,	9 And you are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if it is true that the Spirit of God lives within you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to him.
10 mais si le Christ est en vous, bien que le corps soit mort déjà en raison du péché, l'Esprit est vieen raison de la justice.	10 But if Christ is within you, then the body is indeed dead, concerning sin, but the spirit truly lives, because of justification.
11 Et si l'Esprit de Celui qui a ressuscité Jésus d'entre les morts habite en vous, Celui qui a ressuscitéle Christ Jésus d'entre les morts donnera aussi la vie à vos corps mortels par son Esprit qui habite en vous.	11 But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead lives within you, then he who raised up Jesus Christ from the dead shall also enliven your mortal bodies, by means of his Spirit living within you.
12 Ainsi donc, mes frères, nous sommes débiteurs, mais non point envers la chair pour devoir vivreselon la chair.	12 Therefore, brothers, we are not debtors to the flesh, so as to live according to the flesh.
13 Car si vous vivez selon la chair, vous mourrez. Mais si par l'Esprit vous faites mourir les oeuvresdu corps, vous vivrez.	13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die. But if, by the Spirit, you mortify the deeds of the flesh, you shall live.
14 En effet, tous ceux qu'anime l'Esprit de Dieu sont fils de Dieu.	14 For all those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.
15 Aussi bien n'avez-vous pas reçu un esprit d'esclaves pour retomber dans la crainte; vous avez reçuun esprit de fils adoptifs qui nous fait nous écrier: Abba! Père!	15 And you have not received, again, a spirit of servitude in fear, but you have received the Spirit of the adoption of sons, in whom we cry out: “Abba, Father!”
16 L'Esprit en personne se joint à notre esprit pour attester que nous sommes enfants de Dieu.	16 For the Spirit himself renders testimony to our spirit that we are the sons of God.
17 Enfants, et donc héritiers; héritiers de Dieu, et cohéritiers du Christ, puisque nous souffrons aveclui pour être aussi glorifiés avec lui.	17 But if we are sons, then we are also heirs: certainly heirs of God, but also co-heirs with Christ, yet in such a way that, if we suffer with him, we shall also be glorified with him.
18 J'estime en effet que les souffrances du temps présent ne sont pas à comparer à la gloire qui doitse révéler en nous.	18 For I consider that the sufferings of this time are not worthy to be compared with that future glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 Car la création en attente aspire à la révélation des fils de Dieu:	19 For the anticipation of the creature anticipates the revelation of the sons of God.
20 si elle fut assujettie à la vanité, -- non qu'elle l'eût voulu, mais à cause de celui qui l'y a soumise,-- c'est avec l'espérance	20 For the creature was made subject to emptiness, not willingly, but for the sake of the One who made it subject, unto hope.
21 d'être elle aussi libérée de la servitude de la corruption pour entrer dans la liberté de la gloire desenfants de Dieu.	21 For the creature itself shall also be delivered from the servitude of corruption, into the liberty of the glory of the sons of God.
22 Nous le savons en effet, toute la création jusqu'à ce jour gémit en travail d'enfantement.	22 For we know that every creature groans inwardly, as if giving birth, even until now;
23 Et non pas elle seule: nous-mêmes qui possédons les prémices de l'Esprit, nous gémissons nousaussi intérieurement dans l'attente de la rédemption de notre corps.	23 and not only these, but also ourselves, since we hold the first-fruits of the Spirit. For we also groan within ourselves, anticipating our adoption as the sons of God, and the redemption of our body.
24 Car notre salut est objet d'espérance; et voir ce qu'on espère, ce n'est plus l'espérer: ce qu'on voit,comment pourrait-on l'espérer encore?	24 For we have been saved by hope. But a hope which is seen is not hope. For when a man sees something, why would he hope?
25 Mais espérer ce que nous ne voyons pas, c'est l'attendre avec constance.	25 But since we hope for what we do not see, we wait with patience.
26 Pareillement l'Esprit vient au secours de notre faiblesse; car nous ne savons que demander pourprier comme il faut; mais l'Esprit lui-même intercède pour nous en des gémissements ineffables,	26 And similarly, the Spirit also helps our weakness. For we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself asks on our behalf with ineffable sighing.
27 et Celui qui sonde les coeurs sait quel est le désir de l'Esprit et que son intercession pour les saintscorrespond aux vues de Dieu.	27 And he who examines hearts knows what the Spirit seeks, because he asks on behalf of the saints in accordance with God.
28 Et nous savons qu'avec ceux qui l'aiment, Dieu collabore en tout pour leur bien, avec ceux qu'il aappelés selon son dessein.	28 And we know that, for those who love God, all things work together unto good, for those who, in accordance with his purpose, are called to be saints.
29 Car ceux que d'avance il a discernés, il les a aussi prédestinés à reproduire l'image de son Fils,afin qu'il soit l'aîné d'une multitude de frères;	29 For those whom he foreknew, he also predestinated, in conformity with the image of his Son, so that he might be the Firstborn among many brothers.
30 et ceux qu'il a prédestinés, il les a aussi appelés; ceux qu'il a appelés, il les a aussi justifiés; ceuxqu'il a justifiés, il les a aussi glorifiés.	30 And those whom he predestinated, he also called. And those whom he called, he also justified. And those whom he justified, he also glorified.
31 Que dire après cela? Si Dieu est pour nous, qui sera contre nous?	31 So, what should we say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
32 Lui qui n'a pas épargné son propre Fils mais l'a livré pour nous tous, comment avec lui ne nousaccordera-t-il pas toute faveur?	32 He who did not spare even his own Son, but handed him over for the sake of us all, how could he not also, with him, have given us all things?
33 Qui se fera l'accusateur de ceux que Dieu a élus? C'est Dieu qui justifie.	33 Who will make an accusation against the elect of God? God is the One who justifies;
34 Qui donc condamnera? Le Christ Jésus, celui qui est mort, que dis-je? Ressuscité, qui est à ladroite de Dieu, qui intercède pour nous?	34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus who has died, and who has indeed also risen again, is at the right hand of God, and even now he intercedes for us.
35 Qui nous séparera de l'amour du Christ? La tribulation, l'angoisse, la persécution, la faim, lanudité, les périls, le glaive?	35 Then who will separate us from the love of Christ? Tribulation? Or anguish? Or famine? Or nakedness? Or peril? Or persecution? Or the sword?
36 Selon le mot de l'Ecriture: A cause de toi, l'on nous met à mort tout le long du jour; nous avonspassé pour des brebis d'abattoir.	36 For it is as it has been written: “For your sake, we are being put to death all day long. We are being treated like sheep for the slaughter.”
37 Mais en tout cela nous sommes les grands vainqueurs par celui qui nous a aimés.	37 But in all these things we overcome, because of him who has loved us.
38 Oui, j'en ai l'assurance, ni mort ni vie, ni anges ni principautés, ni présent ni avenir, ni puissances,	38 For I am certain that neither death, nor life, nor Angels, nor Principalities, nor Powers, nor the present things, nor the future things, nor strength,
39 ni hauteur ni profondeur, ni aucune autre créature ne pourra nous séparer de l'amour de Dieumanifesté dans le Christ Jésus notre Seigneur.	39 nor the heights, nor the depths, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
