Épître aux Romains 8

JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il n'y a donc plus maintenant de condamnation pour ceux qui sont dans le Christ Jésus.	1 Thus, condemnation wil never come to those who are in Christ Jesus,
2 La loi de l'Esprit qui donne la vie dans le Christ Jésus t'a affranchi de la loi du péché et de la mort.	2 because the law of the Spirit which gives life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin anddeath.
3 De fait, chose impossible à la Loi, impuissante du fait de la chair, Dieu, en envoyant son propreFils avec une chair semblable à celle du péché et en vue du péché, a condamné le péché dans la chair,	3 What the Law could not do because of the weakness of human nature, God did, sending his own Sonin the same human nature as any sinner to be a sacrifice for sin, and condemning sin in that human nature.
4 afin que le précepte de la Loi fût accompli en nous dont la conduite n'obéit pas à la chair mais àl'esprit.	4 This was so that the Law's requirements might be fully satisfied in us as we direct our lives not by ournatural inclinations but by the Spirit.
5 En effet, ceux qui vivent selon la chair désirent ce qui est charnel; ceux qui vivent selon l'esprit, cequi est spirituel.	5 Those who are living by their natural inclinations have their minds on the things human nature desires;those who live in the Spirit have their minds on spiritual things.
6 Car le désir de la chair, c'est la mort, tandis que le désir de l'esprit, c'est la vie et la paix,	6 And human nature has nothing to look forward to but death, while the Spirit looks forward to life andpeace,
7 puisque le désir de la chair est inimitié contre Dieu: il ne se soumet pas à la loi de Dieu, il ne lepeut même pas,	7 because the outlook of disordered human nature is opposed to God, since it does not submit to God'sLaw, and indeed it cannot,
8 et ceux qui sont dans la chair ne peuvent plaire à Dieu.	8 and those who live by their natural inclinations can never be pleasing to God.
9 Vous, vous n'êtes pas dans la chair mais dans l'esprit, puisque l'Esprit de Dieu habite en vous. Quin'a pas l'Esprit du Christ ne lui appartient pas,	9 You, however, live not by your natural inclinations, but by the Spirit, since the Spirit of God has made ahome in you. Indeed, anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
10 mais si le Christ est en vous, bien que le corps soit mort déjà en raison du péché, l'Esprit est vieen raison de la justice.	10 But when Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin but the spirit is alive because you havebeen justified;
11 Et si l'Esprit de Celui qui a ressuscité Jésus d'entre les morts habite en vous, Celui qui a ressuscitéle Christ Jésus d'entre les morts donnera aussi la vie à vos corps mortels par son Esprit qui habite en vous.	11 and if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead has made his home in you, then he whoraised Christ Jesus from the dead wil give life to your own mortal bodies through his Spirit living in you.
12 Ainsi donc, mes frères, nous sommes débiteurs, mais non point envers la chair pour devoir vivreselon la chair.	12 So then, my brothers, we have no obligation to human nature to be dominated by it.
13 Car si vous vivez selon la chair, vous mourrez. Mais si par l'Esprit vous faites mourir les oeuvresdu corps, vous vivrez.	13 If you do live in that way, you are doomed to die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the habitsoriginating in the body, you will have life.
14 En effet, tous ceux qu'anime l'Esprit de Dieu sont fils de Dieu.	14 Al who are guided by the Spirit of God are sons of God;
15 Aussi bien n'avez-vous pas reçu un esprit d'esclaves pour retomber dans la crainte; vous avez reçuun esprit de fils adoptifs qui nous fait nous écrier: Abba! Père!	15 for what you received was not the spirit of slavery to bring you back into fear; you received the Spiritof adoption, enabling us to cry out, 'Abba, Father!'
16 L'Esprit en personne se joint à notre esprit pour attester que nous sommes enfants de Dieu.	16 The Spirit himself joins with our spirit to bear witness that we are children of God.
17 Enfants, et donc héritiers; héritiers de Dieu, et cohéritiers du Christ, puisque nous souffrons aveclui pour être aussi glorifiés avec lui.	17 And if we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, provided that weshare his suffering, so as to share his glory.
18 J'estime en effet que les souffrances du temps présent ne sont pas à comparer à la gloire qui doitse révéler en nous.	18 In my estimation, al that we suffer in the present time is nothing in comparison with the glory which isdestined to be disclosed for us,
19 Car la création en attente aspire à la révélation des fils de Dieu:	19 for the whole creation is waiting with eagerness for the children of God to be revealed.
20 si elle fut assujettie à la vanité, -- non qu'elle l'eût voulu, mais à cause de celui qui l'y a soumise,-- c'est avec l'espérance	20 It was not for its own purposes that creation had frustration imposed on it, but for the purposes of himwho imposed it-
21 d'être elle aussi libérée de la servitude de la corruption pour entrer dans la liberté de la gloire desenfants de Dieu.	21 with the intention that the whole creation itself might be freed from its slavery to corruption andbrought into the same glorious freedom as the children of God.
22 Nous le savons en effet, toute la création jusqu'à ce jour gémit en travail d'enfantement.	22 We are wel aware that the whole creation, until this time, has been groaning in labour pains.
23 Et non pas elle seule: nous-mêmes qui possédons les prémices de l'Esprit, nous gémissons nousaussi intérieurement dans l'attente de la rédemption de notre corps.	23 And not only that: we too, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we are groaning insideourselves, waiting with eagerness for our bodies to be set free.
24 Car notre salut est objet d'espérance; et voir ce qu'on espère, ce n'est plus l'espérer: ce qu'on voit,comment pourrait-on l'espérer encore?	24 In hope, we already have salvation; in hope, not visibly present, or we should not be hoping -- nobodygoes on hoping for something which is already visible.
25 Mais espérer ce que nous ne voyons pas, c'est l'attendre avec constance.	25 But having this hope for what we cannot yet see, we are able to wait for it with perseveringconfidence.
26 Pareillement l'Esprit vient au secours de notre faiblesse; car nous ne savons que demander pourprier comme il faut; mais l'Esprit lui-même intercède pour nous en des gémissements ineffables,	26 And as wel as this, the Spirit too comes to help us in our weakness, for, when we do not know how topray properly, then the Spirit personal y makes our petitions for us in groans that cannot be put into words;
27 et Celui qui sonde les coeurs sait quel est le désir de l'Esprit et que son intercession pour les saintscorrespond aux vues de Dieu.	27 and he who can see into al hearts knows what the Spirit means because the prayers that the Spiritmakes for God's holy people are always in accordance with the mind of God.
28 Et nous savons qu'avec ceux qui l'aiment, Dieu collabore en tout pour leur bien, avec ceux qu'il aappelés selon son dessein.	28 We are wel aware that God works with those who love him, those who have been cal ed inaccordance with his purpose, and turns everything to their good.
29 Car ceux que d'avance il a discernés, il les a aussi prédestinés à reproduire l'image de son Fils,afin qu'il soit l'aîné d'une multitude de frères;	29 He decided beforehand who were the ones destined to be moulded to the pattern of his Son, so thathe should be the eldest of many brothers;
30 et ceux qu'il a prédestinés, il les a aussi appelés; ceux qu'il a appelés, il les a aussi justifiés; ceuxqu'il a justifiés, il les a aussi glorifiés.	30 it was those so destined that he cal ed; those that he cal ed, he justified, and those that he hasjustified he has brought into glory.
31 Que dire après cela? Si Dieu est pour nous, qui sera contre nous?	31 After saying this, what can we add? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32 Lui qui n'a pas épargné son propre Fils mais l'a livré pour nous tous, comment avec lui ne nousaccordera-t-il pas toute faveur?	32 Since he did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for the sake of all of us, then can we not expectthat with him he wil freely give us al his gifts?
33 Qui se fera l'accusateur de ceux que Dieu a élus? C'est Dieu qui justifie.	33 Who can bring any accusation against those that God has chosen? When God grants saving justice
34 Qui donc condamnera? Le Christ Jésus, celui qui est mort, que dis-je? Ressuscité, qui est à ladroite de Dieu, qui intercède pour nous?	34 who can condemn? Are we not sure that it is Christ Jesus, who died -- yes and more, who was raised from the dead and is at God's right hand -- and who is adding his plea for us?
35 Qui nous séparera de l'amour du Christ? La tribulation, l'angoisse, la persécution, la faim, lanudité, les périls, le glaive?	35 Can anything cut us off from the love of Christ -- can hardships or distress, or persecution, or lack offood and clothing, or threats or violence;
36 Selon le mot de l'Ecriture: A cause de toi, l'on nous met à mort tout le long du jour; nous avonspassé pour des brebis d'abattoir.	36 as scripture says: For your sake we are being massacred al day long, treated as sheep to beslaughtered?
37 Mais en tout cela nous sommes les grands vainqueurs par celui qui nous a aimés.	37 No; we come through al these things triumphantly victorious, by the power of him who loved us.
38 Oui, j'en ai l'assurance, ni mort ni vie, ni anges ni principautés, ni présent ni avenir, ni puissances,	38 For I am certain of this: neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nothing already inexistence and nothing stil to come, nor any power,
39 ni hauteur ni profondeur, ni aucune autre créature ne pourra nous séparer de l'amour de Dieumanifesté dans le Christ Jésus notre Seigneur.	39 nor the heights nor the depths, nor any created thing whatever, wil be able to come between us andthe love of God, known to us in Christ Jesus our Lord.
